Syllabus of Music Theory for 3rd Elementary School

Aims: Student understand well about Music Notation Students will be expected to capable in sight-singing one of childrens simple song with Music Notation Students will be expected to read one of childrens song with Music Notation and play it with music instrument. Lesson Plan: Week 1 (Class meets during 45 minutes) Read Music Notation
Listening and watching music video, the students can give a simple explanation about the video, such as the instruments (violin, cello and keyboard). knowing and understanding about; music notation (treble clef, staff, and time signature) note values (whole note, half note, quarter note, eight note, and sixteent note) and letter name (C,D,E,F,G,A,B,C) and its position on the staff. Sight singing a simple rythm.

Week 2 Sight-Singing Students is capable to sight singing with music notation, practise to understand well the rythm and beat with different time signature. Knowing and understanding about letter names and its position on the staff, sight-singing one of childrens simple song (Twinkle-Twinkle Little Star and Long-long Ago) Week 3 Playing Instrument and Perform Students bring one of the music instrument which they can play (students who do not bring can only singing or clap the hands for rytm). Students must be capable first to sight singing before they play with the instrument. Knowing about the position of notation in their instrument. The student who playing the instrument best must perform to class for example and give she/he an appreciation. Play or sing the same song together. Have a homework to looking for one of the song that they will play or sing in the next week. Week 4 Analythical Students play one of the song which chosed and then performing in class. They have to give a brief explanation of their song that they played on the last week. The explanation could include: tittle, composer, the key signature, kind of music (traditional or Western music) and how the nuance of the song (happy, sad or sprited).
