LOOKING FORWARD

Winter Edition Hi Everyone, POWER COSTS You may have read in The Courier Mail recently about The Big Switch initiative to save on electricity costs. Your Committee is currently looking at entry into the contestable electricity market which may mean savings, as a united group, of up to 30%. If this can be achieved over the course of this calendar year, then it may not be in your best interests to join The Big Switch. Ultimately it is up to you, but we will be seeking a commitment from all consumers (owners and residents) to join into a group contract once a deal has been negotiated with an electricity provider.More to come on this soon. GARDENS Over the next few months you will notice further garden renovations to replace tired areas and to make them more water efcient and less labour intensive in terms of weeding etc. We will be using more rocks, mulch, and drought tolerant plants to help in this regard. Both the main Grand Pde entrance, the Northern gate area, and at the rear of the Abaco building are in line for an upgrade.

The Committee has accepted a quote for removal of some palms from the atriums, and maintenance of the 20 Cabbage Palms around the grounds. Expect to see some atrium action in July, when some palms that are becoming too tall and dangerous in heavy weather will be removed. The winter period is a good time so that the understory plants can become accustomed to higher light levels. On the subject of gardening, anyone who would like to help in the gardens with the voluntary gardening committee, please give me a call and we will gladly welcome your contribution. Similarly any one who would like to donate a plant please contact me to discuss the appropriate plant type. FUN TIMES We are planning to have another social function over the Winter to support Cystic Fibrosis, so watch your inbox. All you Facebook users, would you please Like our page - St Kitts Double Bay Waterfront Apartments to keep up to date with what is going on. All contributions to our Facebook page would be appreciated. If you have photos of St Kitts fun times or wildlife around the grounds please let me know.

We have a casual vacancy on the Committee as a result of the resignation of Richard Barram. Richard was a valued member of the Committee but, due to heavy work commitments has had to make the call. Thanks to Richard for his encouragement and support. If you would like to spend one afternoon a quarter helping make the decisions that shape the future for St Kitts, please contact me. You dont have to take on a heavy workload-we need your ideas and your thoughts.Remember the AGM on July 16 @ 2.00 pm at Archers. COMMUNITY St Kitts is earning a reputation as the place to live on Kawana Island. We have newcomers who are part of the St Kitts Community from other areas of the Sunshine Coast, and we welcome the diversity that they bring. Real estate values are starting to climb and the effort that has been expended in gardens, painting etc is starting to show dividends. Please join into the Spirit of St Kitts - tell your friends about the great lifestyle. See you around St Kitts
