Club News Edition 10 For 2013

JUNIOR CLUB NEWS 10 Well we certainly have had some wintery conditions. Last week we saw some good rain during our training sessions, it was great to see so many young falcons come to training in the rain. The U13s game was moved to home after St Bernards was flooded for the second time this season. There were some good wins on the weekend to our U11, U12, U16 Reserves, Senior and Senior Women's teams. Well done to Riley Smith(U11) and Joshua Tortorella(U12) on playing their 50th game last Sunday. On Saturday we head to Officeworks for a sausage sizzle after being invited by them to participate in celebrations for the opening of their 150 th store. We will be at Officeworks between 10am-2:00pm please come along and buy a sausage to support our club. If you are able to assist on the day, please contact Bomber (Laurie Bomford U16 coach) on 0400 720 780. Trivia Night is now only a week away, please make contact to Bomber to purchase your tickets. Bring along some snacks and drinks and some loose change, there will be many raffles on the night. An exciting game, against quality opposition, going down to the wire is as close to a finals game as we can get and although we fell short by 10 pts the players can be particularly proud of their efforts and realise that if we all do our roles and work hard we can come back from any situation and swing the momentum our way. We were outplayed in the first half and took a big effort to fight back and never give it up. The competition is very close with at least four teams in the mix, all good teams, the challenge is there and we will look forward to the battles ahead. Best Josh, Soni Jordan, Youngy, Issy, Kuol ,Brenton, Bull, Chase UNDER 16 WYNDHAMVALE V GLENORDEN

We travelled all the way to Glenorden this week to face a team we havent yet played, we didnt know what to expect from Glenorden so we wanted to have a good start to the game. We slowly got on top in the first quarter and we put the game right out of Glenordens reach by booting 9 goals straight in the second. We kept the pressure up for the rest of the game and ran out easy winners. Areas of our game we have been working on at training are starting to improve. Our ball use is getting better and we are really starting to work together as a team. We still need to keep our talk at a high level right throughout games, this tends to drop off as we get tired. It was pleasing to have everyone contribute to the win, we need this to happen every week from now on, especially next week against top side Newport. Wyndhamvale 21 - 13 - 139 Glenorden 2 - 2 - 14

Goals:- Jhosh, Stefan 6, Dom 3, Rocket 2, Jack G. Mozza, Jacko, Andy Best:- Team Effort Thats all folks Bomber. Under 10's We travelled to St Albans today. Right from the first bounce we played footy exactly how it was meant to be played. You were all a force to be reckoned with and the opposition realised that pretty quickly. EVERY one of you played your position perfectly and did what was asked of you. I was so proud of all of you. What a game!!!!!!!!! Cody kicked the first goal of the game pretty quickly and that gave you all the confidence to realise " YES, WE CAN DO THIS ". From that moment on, there was no stopping any of you. Zack K and xavier kicked an amazing 4 goals each. What a great achievement for you both. Dylan kicked 3 goals. Will and Gunny kicked 2 goals each, and Nick, Aaron and Shak kicked 1 goal each. WOW boys!!! Team work was shown at it's best. Let's keep up this awesome work. Best - Team effort Well done our little superstars. Shane. U13s

St. Bernard's 9-4-58 to Wyndhamvale 1-3-9.

It was an early start for the boys today due to St Bernard's ground being unplayable. We were lucky enough to have the game moved to home but unlucky that the only start time was 8:50am! Our ground was in pretty good shape considering the big boys were playing at home yesterday too. It was a pretty disappointing game, maybe the early start didn't see the boys in their best form. There were lots of dropped marks, not much effort being made. However there were some highlights, Big Kallam showing his strength with good bumps, Deccy doing some big attacks. Lleyton had a great game and Brad really attacked the ball. Cam's efforts were unbelievable, Boog attacked well, Trae had a good game and Rhys attacked the footy well. We need to go into the next game with a new mind set, get our bodies on the line and get in there and have a good go. Goals: Lleyton Best: Rhys, Cam, Lleyton, Dec, Cooper and Trae Keep having a crack boys, Well get there Cookie.

ROUND 7

Wyndhamvale 6.8.44 def Werribee Centrals 0.3.3

It was a good win by our boys today, playing smart footy in wet, slippery conditions. Good use of the footy made it hard for Centrals to get their hands on the ball, allowing our boys to play a flowing game we are really starting to enjoy. Some special mentions go to Mouldy and Jack Logan who are the captain and vice captain of our side, forming the "wall" and constantly pumping the ball back into attack. It was also pleasing to see Jordy back on the goal kicking tally. Jordy worked super hard and rewarded himself with three goals. We are already at the halfway mark of the season, and I am extremely proud of what the boys have achieved thus far. However, the second half of the year is going to be tough and we cannot afford to drop off from what we have been doing. We must continue to work hard and make sure we are ready to go. Don't forget we are going bowling on Thursday night for a bit of fun, laughter, and team bonding!! ROUND 8

Wyndhamvale 11.4.70 def Sanctuary Lakes 2.0.12

This weeks newsletter is dedicated to Riley Smith. On Sunday Riley played his 50th game for our club and did so in style. Riley is a quiet kid who just goes about his business week in and week out, sometimes slipping under the radar of the coach (sorry mate). So, Riley had played 49 games for Wyndhamvale and not kicked a goal. This week he kicked 2.What a way to play your 50th. I am also proud to say that I have coached all 50. Congratulations Riley and we wish you all the best in your next 50. A great win by the boys this week, a game dominated by our big centre half forward Matty Capela. Matty kicked four for the game, but was doing everything a coach could ask for. Well done big fella! Jordy was again back to his best kicking three. We finally kicked 10 goals in a game. Well done boys! The big score only happened because we played the team game. The talk was better this week and so were the one percenters. Another special mention goes to Griffo who played a magnificent game in the ruck and never gave up trying all day. We have a tough game this week playing Newport away. We must be switched on and ready to go. Best-Matty.C, Tyson, Jacko, Jordy, and of course RILEY! Goals-Matty.C 4, Jordy 3, Riley 2, Jack 1, Mouse 1 Thanks again to all our helpers. Another wet morning, and another very muddy ground. Something tells me that you boys love playing in the mud, you all seem to be playing your best footy while having fun slipping in mud!! Today we celebrated with 2 milestones, firstly a big congratulations to Josh (Hulk) for celebrating his 50th game in style, and secondly to our whole team whom for the first time have kept our opposition scoreless. Most of these boys have had plenty of scoreless games, where we were the ones that didn't get the chance to score, so today we can really celebrate our hard work in style. Our teamwork, commitment and sportsmanship is what we showed on the ground today, lets keep this going for the rest of the season. Enjoy the weekend of boys, and lets be ready and focussed for next week. Goals: Jake S 3, Arden 2, Deklan, James, Tyler, Luke, Lachlan Best: Tommy, Jake S, Iziah, Deklen, Charlie, Kaiden Thanks Boys! Wyndhamvale 12-12-84 def Melton 61-37

After an hour delay due to ground use issues, our game against Melton started evenly. Our poor kicking 1-5 with the wind in the first quarter was set to keep the game even until half time. Our girls ran hard, competed for everything all over the ground, but we failed to centre the footy when needed, so our conversion was poor. A brief chat at the main break saw us come out and kick 6 in a row from much better positions. We continued similar work in the last. Game over! Our handballs clear of the packs to a running teammate was to be a feature in the second half, along with strong tackling and better delivery to forwards. It was overall a good win and a quick lesson on how and where to deliver the ball going forward. Only 4 games left before finals begin, so we need to continue to learn something from each session and game. Continue to impress each other and get better as a team along the way. Lets see how far we can go!!! Goals: Heater 4, Kellee 3, Kerry 1, Kirra 1, Bec 1, Andy 1, Milsy 1 Best: Millsy, Bec, Andy, Anna, Kellee, Bridgy, Kirra
