Thought for the Week

illiam Gladstone, in announcing the death of Princess Alice to the House of Commons, told a touching story. The little daughter of the Princess was seriously ill with diphtheria. The doctors told the princess not to kiss her little daughter and endanger her life by breathing the child's breath. Once when the child was struggling to breathe, the mother, forgetting herself entirely, took the little one into her arms to keep her from choking to death. Rasping and struggling for her life, the child said, "Momma, kiss me!" Without thinking of herself the mother tenderly kissed her daughter. She got diphtheria and some days thereafter she went to be forever with the Lord. Real love forgets self. Real love knows no danger. Real love doesn't count the cost. The Bible says, "Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it."

JESUS IN BATTLE WITH DEMONS LUKE 8:26-39

Welcome to Worship
elcome to New Hope Church, now into our third century serving God! If you are visiting, you will discover a loving, spirit-filled church family. Here is some helpful information as you join us in worship today: All who worship here are equals in the sight of God, regardless of race, age, gender, physical disability or religious affiliation. Communion, when celebrated, is open to all who profess Christ as Lord and Savior, whether affiliated with this church or not. Children may partake of Communion as well, if parents approve. A nursery is available during the service; please see a greeter for directions. (This is for infants and children up to 3 years of age.) Handicap-accessible restrooms are located off the narthex (main foyer) and adjacent to the entrance lobby in the Fellowship Hall/Gym. Please complete the tear-off attendance slip attached to the bulletin and drop it in the offering plate so we will have a record of your visit with us today. Thank you for remembering to silence your cell phone during the service. We ask that there be no food or beverages in the sanctuary, please. If you arrived as a visitor we hope that you leave as a friend and worship with us often! New Hope Church exists to: Glorify God in worship and rejoice in our life together; Share the Good News of the Gospel in word and deed; Reach as many as we can with the saving love of Jesus; Help each person grow toward Christian maturity, and find their place of service in the church and in the world.

parents half-day-out every Tuesday! 2013 Vacation Bible School. This evangelistic VBS is the ultimate ride. At the end of the week, kids will want to do it all over again! VBS will be July 8th 11th, 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm, for ages 3 years up to 12. Please call Pastor Brad (7724680) or the church office (449-7020) with any questions or if you would like to volunteer to help with a VBS class or with snacks each night. You may also volunteer on the tear-off slip attached to the bulletin. New Hope invites the men of the church and the surrounding community to a weekly Prayer Breakfast each Tuesday morning at 6:00 a.m. A devotional is shared over breakfast, and a time of prayer follows before the busy workday begins. In a casual atmosphere men may discuss concerns that stay within the group. A bond between friends develops. This is a meaningful time of fellowship for the men who attend. Visitors are always welcome. Come join us! New Hope Choir Led by Ben, the New Hope choir is more than just a choir. It is a small group that meets on Sunday mornings to fellowship, express concerns, reflect on a devotional together and pray for one another. Those in the choir are blessed to be in it together. Join the choir and find out why! They meet every Sunday after the Worship Service at 11:30. Stephen Ministry - Got a burden? You dont have to carry that burden alone. You can have a STEPHEN MINISTER who will spend time with you, listen to you, and walk beside you. If you or someone you know is interested in receiving care through the Stephen Ministry program at New Hope, please contact the pastor through the Church office at (615) 449-7020 and request that a Stephen minister contact you.

Ministries/Activities Within Our Church

Next Sunday evening we invite you to come out at 6:00 for an old-fashioned Sing-Along. We will gather in the sanctuary and sing some of the old Gospel favorites, perhaps some that we have not sung in a while on Sunday mornings. So if you enjoy the old hymns, and appreciate the importance of preserving them for future generations, join us next Sunday night and bring a friend! A Cumberland Presbyterian Womens (CPW) Ministry is forming at New Hope. The CPW was very active at New Hope for many years but disbanded as more and more women now work during the day. We still have a few ladies who might be able to participate in the CPW either during work or after. Much of the most important outreach that was done at New Hope was done by the CPW. Please let Mary Thompson know your interest today. Childrens Summer Fun Program is every Tuesday morning. Pastor Brad will meet the youth and children at the church at 9:00 a.m. We will take the church van to Providence in Mt. Juliet to see a movie and eat lunch. Any child going will need to bring $1.00 for the movie and $5.00 for lunch. A list of movies that will be featured each week is on the church website. Think of this as a
