RECRUITING

2008/2009

As we reflect on our Centennial celebrations, we find ourselves looking forward to new ways to innovate and grow over the next 100 years. It is a time of great change both within HBS and around the world. These changes represent an opportunity for the School and our students to connect with you to create lasting partnerships in the years to come.
Celebrating a Legacy of Vision and Achievement In 2008, HBS celebrated its 100th anniversary with events based on our commitment to innovation within the practice of management. With a focus on dialogue and the exchange of knowledge, the case method provided the foundation for many of the Centennial events, including 14 colloquia throughout the year and the Global Business Summit held in October. Grounded in the spirit of our students and faculty, the Centennial has been both a celebration of the Schools history of innovation and a reminder of its capacity for impact. Creating Lasting Partnerships Career visions are an ever-shifting landscape, and the 2008/09 MBA Recruiting Report reflects the ways in which HBS students have sculpted their education and experience to move into a wide array of industries, roles and functions around the globe. With new initiatives such as Spring Recruiting, an additional recruiting cycle in early March for all students, our office aims to meet the needs of our recruiting partners and students alike by customizing the recruiting process to align with these unique visions. Shaping the Next 100 Years In developing a vision that will guide the School into the future, we look to you for new ideas on how to continue to support our community. In the spirit of collaboration, we invite you to contact us with your feedback and ideas so we may improve our service. We intend to continue to shape meaningful partnerships with companies so our students can go on to make lasting impact within their organizations and the world around them. Thank you for your interest in the students of Harvard Business School and for your partnership with our office. Your support and investment in our community are invaluable. We look forward to the next 100 years at HBS andin the words of Dean Jay O. Light to your participation in framing the future. Sincerely,

Jana Pompadur Kierstead Managing Director, MBA Career Services

Here are some ways for you to get involved in recruiting at HBS.
Job Postings Our MBA Job Bank is a central online resource for job postings that provides students with direct, 24-hour access to your companys opportunities. Postings may be submitted free of charge throughout the year for full-time or internship opportunities. To post a job, visit our website at www.hbs.edu/recruiting/mba. Resume Books Recruiters identify candidates who meet their needs by searching our student resume database and by contacting students directly. Electronic versions of the Resume Books may be ordered for first- and second-year classes. Please visit www.hbs.edu/recruiting/mba to place an order. Networking Nights (Second-year students only) Networking Nights provide recruiting partners a forum for meeting with second-year students to discuss full-time opportunities with their companies. Segmented by industry, the networking receptions allow companies to interact with interested second-year students in a relaxed setting. Visit www.hbs.edu/recruiting/mba to learn more. Company Information Days (First-year students only) New this year, Company Information Days give firms the opportunity to host a 30-minute presentation and participate in a networking session on campus. Students have no academic or extracurricular conflicts during Company Information Days, thus maximizing student engagement. For more information, please visit www.hbs.edu/recruiting/mba/events/internship.html. Company Presentations MBA Career Services offers on-campus presentations on a rolling basis throughout the year. Presentations provide an excellent opportunity for a company to educate students about everything from opportunities that exist for MBAs to corporate culture. Please visit our website for specific dates and policies surrounding presentations. Other Recruiting Events In addition to Networking Nights, Company Information Days, and formal Company Presentations, there is a wide range of recruiting events offered at HBS that enables you to meet students and market opportunities within your company. To schedule a recruiting-related event, such as a reception or a dinner, please visit www.hbs.edu/recruiting/mba/events. Interviews Companies invite students to interview on or off campus outside of class time. The MBA Career Services office facilitates on-campus interviews through scheduling students and arranging interview locations. Additional information and date options are available on our website. Spring Recruiting Also new this year, MBA Career Services will host Spring Recruiting, another round of networking and interviews in March. Spring Recruiting will consist of a career fair, as well as an interview period for both first- and second-year students. For more information, please visit our website. Student Club Activities Companies generate awareness by collaborating with student clubs to participate in educational speaking engagements, conferences, and career fairs held throughout the year. A list of club officers and upcoming events can be found on our website at www.hbs.edu/mba/studentlife/clubs.html. Career Treks Treks offer an opportunity to meet a focused group of MBA students who are interested in learning about your company. Organized and run by Harvard Business School students, treks are multi-day trips, featuring on-site company visits, distinguished speakers, and alumni panels. In past years, treks were hosted in Los Angeles, London, Miami, New York City, the San Francisco Bay area, and Seattle, among others. Field Studies Companies work with a team of second-year students on a field-based project of strategic importance to their organizations. Field study projects are developed in many different research areas, and companies may propose a project idea online at www.hbs.edu/recruiting/mba/connect/fieldstudies.html.
