Week 1
When a word ends in e, drop the e before adding ing, eg create, creating; practise, practising
Week 2
If a word ends in l, to add a suffix double the l, eg travel, travelling
Week 3
When a word of one syllable contains a single short vowel, double the final consonant before adding a suffix, eg run, running, runner; star, starred
Week 4
If adding able to a word ending in e, drop the e first eg advise, advisable
Week 5
Contractions Above where the letter is supposed to be, we put the apostrophe. theyll, were, theres, didnt, theyre, arent, wont, mustnt, wouldnt and isnt
Week 6
To add a consonant ending to a word ending in e, just add the ending, but to add a vowel ending to a word ending in e, drop the e before adding the ending, eg. sideways, chasing

Week 2
For adjectives which end in y, change the y to i before making in to comparatives and superlatives eg sleepy, sleepier, sleepiest
Week 3
When a word ends in a consonant + y, change the y into i before adding an ending, except if the ending is to be ing, eg. cry, cried, crying. mercy, merciful lady, ladies..occupy, occupies, occupying
Week 4
When a word ends in a consonant + y, change the y into i before adding ly, eg steady, steadily hungry, hungrily
Week 5
When a word ends with one f, change the f to v and then add the plural suffix es, eg half, halves (Exceptions: roof, roofs; chief, chiefs)
Week 6
When a word has more than one syllable and the final syllable contains two vowels, then the final consonant is not doubled before adding a suffix, eg. appear, appeared; complain, complained

Week 4
Words with double ee keep their es when ing is added. Example: referee, refereeing
Week 5
When a word ends in a vowel + y, just add s to make the plural eg storey, storeys..monkey, monkeys
Week 6
When adding all to the beginning of words, drop one l. Example: all so - also
