Materials Needed : Text book, blackboard , pictures Lesson Objectives : To introduce the past progressive tense Lesson Procedures: Starter o Show the students a few pictures in which some activities are being performed by boys and girls in isolation as well as in groups. Presentation o Tell them that these boys and girls are performing these duties a day before at 8 o clock in the morning. It is not important when they started these activities. The important point is that at 8 o clock yesterday they were seen performing these activities. The following activities can be shown: a) A boy watching T.V b) Girls dancing on the stage c) A baby crying d) Children playing football ( pictures below) o With the teachers help the students try to describe the continuity of these activities in the past in the following way:

a) The boy was watching T.V b) The girls were dancing on the stage c) The baby was crying d) The boy was playing football. Differentiated Task o Give more examples of the past progressive tense and write the sentences on the board .Allow the students to come up with more examples of their own using the past progressive tense. Plenary o Explain the example sentence given and the information in the box. Take students through the exercise orally. Let them understand when they have to use the past progressive tense. o Give students time to complete the exercise individually or in pairs and write the answers
