JUNIOR CLUB NEWS 11 (round 10)

We had a great day at Officeworks on Saturday for our sausage sizzle. Thankyou to Officeworks for inviting our football club to be part of their celebrations. Officeworks held a raffle in which we were to receive half funds raised by them and the other half was being donated to the School for Autistic Children. We also donated our share to the School for Autistic Children. Bomber was lucky enough to win first prize in the raffle being a Samsung Tablet. A big thankyou to those that came down and helped out or who came to buy a sausage. We had a very chilly start to Sunday morning ,the ovals were white, covered in frost. It was a lovely winter day though once the sun came out. There were some good wins on the weekend to our U11, U14, U16, Reserves and Seniors. Reminder for Trivia Night on Friday, tables are now sold out. There are still a couple of seats available, if you would like to attend please contact Bomber on 0400 720 780. Dont forget to bring the loose change for the raffles many great prizes to be won. Our Youth Girls play top placed St Albans on Saturday at 10:45am at home. Please come along and support our Youth Girls as they dont get to play many games at home. Congratulations to Tori on playing her 50th game this Saturday. The WRFL record now contains junior information including all fixtures and results. The record is available to purchase at the Atco Hut or canteen for $2.00 each. UNDER 16 WYNDHAMVALE V NEWPORT POWER This week was going to be our toughest game of the year against undefeated top side Newport. We knew they have had easy wins so far this season so we wanted to put them under some real physical pressure. We also wanted to focus on controlling the footy when we had possession. We took control of the game right from the first bounce, our on ballers were running hard giving our forwards plenty of opportunities. Matt Reschke was a real presence for us up forward kicking two goals and had the opposition worried with his size and strength. We kept Newport scoreless until the last few minutes of the quarter and went into quarter time with a handy 18 point lead. We completely dominated the top side in the second quarter and if it hadnt been for some bad kicking on goal (we kicked 2 - 7) the game would have been over at half time. We did this by playing our best team football of the year with a season high 46 sacrificial acts during this quarter. After half time we knew Newport would come back at us and they did, outscoring us by 10 points but I still felt we had control of the game. Unfortunately we lost Jhosh for the rest of the game, which was a pity because he had been playing a great game, this left us with only 17 players for the rest of the match. This could have been the undoing of all our good work but is seemed to make us change up a gear. Newport got to within 10 points of us in the last quarter but some great goals to Sheldon, Huddo & Mozza saw us winning by 32 points. Even with only 17 on the ground we still dominated play with 10 scoring shots to 2. I was really proud of the way we worked as a team today. Out talk and communication on the ground was first rate, we ran hard all day and played unselfish football which showed in the number of sacrificial acts for the day (144). Congratulations to Rocket on his 100th game and what a game it was! Good games today by Mozza, who ran his guts out for us and Sheldon who was very elusive on his wing. Ayor played is best game of the season and Matt R. Was a real force in the forward line. Today we took our game to another level, the trick now is to strive to always play at that level. Therefore we all need to keep training hard and keep improving. Its important we dont get big heads now, this was just one game in the season, we still have 5 to go until we achieve our goal.

REMEMBER :- IF YOU WORK HARD THE REWARDS WILL COME. Wyndhamvale 9 - 19 - 73 Newport 6 - 5 - 41

Goals :- Matt R 2, Dani, Dom, Rocket, Stefan, Sheldon, Huddo, Mozza Best :- Rocket, Mozza, Sheldon, Stefan, Jason, Ayor, Matt R, Jordyn & 16 others. Thats all folks Bomber.

This week our team had a bye, but the boys did not want to face a weekend without playing a game, so a scratch match against our parents was held.. Everyone was feeling very confident in themselves, and both teams wanted to win for the bragging rights. The game started off with a very fast and furious pace, until the parents realized that they weren't as young as they used to be.. Highlights of todays game included: Jakes speckie over Charlies shoulders (he really is that short)...Jays wonderful mark and goal over Jo (his first ever goal ).. Braydens lovely mark and goal over Jo & Liam (his first ever goal).. Charlies run down and tackles on Jake S and Lukas.. Garys reall y poor umpiring skills Little Rippas tackle on Big Rippa.. Carols rugby throws (not handballed).. Cookie (under 13s coach) spear ta ckle on Charlie from the boundary line.. There were plenty more sights to see but I was so out of breath that I couldn't keep up with what was going on.. Thanks to all the Parents and Kids for a fantastic day, it was a great bonding experience Well done boys! Under 13s It was a great day for footy. We were up against Old Westbourne at home. Everyone played really well today and the scoreboard just doesn't do justice to our performance on the ground. Everyone had a go, everyone contributed. Our efforts were a 100% turnaround from last week. I can't single out individual names this week, everyone had a great game. It has been really hard to pick the best players! Let's play like this again next week against St Albans. Remember it's an early game, 8:50am! Final score Wyndhamvale 2-2-14 Old Westbourne 14-7-91 Goals: Cooper and Brad Best: Great effort by all the boys Cookie.

We versed Nth Footscray at home on what was a very icy morning. Our opposition was going to be competitive from the first bounce. We found it very tough to play against a side that were taller and bigger then us. I think we held our own for most of the game but we seem to get lost in it all. We tried a new game plan and it worked well when we needed to use it. Lots of good things came out of the game like using your voices and shepherding. Some smothers were laid but we must always man up and keep focus. congratulations to all players who received encouragement awards. Cody, Khye, Aaron, Froggy, Braiden and Riley. Well done Riley on your first game. Hope you enjoyed it. Well done our little superstars. Shane Under 11s Wyndhamvale 5.3.33 def Newport 1.3.9

Sunday saw our boys come away with a win, but not before they made it hard for themselves. We started off well kicking three unanswered goals and had a handy lead a quarter time. However, that was the end of the highlights. Newport came out after the break and really took it up to our boys and slowed the scoring down. Blake and Scotty stood tall down back and had it have not been for these two boys we could of been in some real trouble. As usual we kept plugging away and held on to win. Boys, we must play good footy for four quarters and not be satisfied with just winning. Best-Blake, Scotty, Tyson, Jack, Griffo Goals-Tyson 2, Mouse 1, Colin 1(Well done mate!)Boooo 1.
