THOUGHTS FROM BRAD

There is no perfect church! People have been in search of this church for generations but they have not found it. Oh they may find one that gives them a glimpse of perfection but eventually it too will fall short of what they are looking for and so they begin their search again, and again and again. There is no perfect church. If there was a church in the Bible that proved this imperfection over and over again it would have been at Corinth. The Corinthian church was split into at least three factions. It also allowed a church member to practice open immorality so perverse that even the pagans were shocked. Women were stirring up people by their behavior. Some were tempted by the idols of their past. There were doctrinal issues, etcOn and on we could go but I think you get the point. As long as there are people in the church, there is no perfect church. Yet when the Apostle Paul spoke of the Corinthian Church, he was quick to encourage and build up the church before he spoke critically of her. He was calling them out to remember who they are and to whom they belong (1 Cor. 1:1-9). In spite of the fact this church was not perfect, we are being declared perfect because of our faith in Christ Jesus. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in the Spirit of our God (1 Cor. 6:11). So the Good News is this: You may not find the perfect church, but you can find Gods church. This congregation, not the one around the corner, can be everything the Lord deserves, if Gods people, including the ones who have been looking for the perfect church, begin to demonstrate the love, faith and hope that the Holy Spirit produces! Today I hope you listen to the Lords prayer he gave on your behalf as we study John 17:20-26. I too pray that we may be as one. Thats my dream of the perfect church. In His Service, Brad

We need to rely on God. Through Him, we will gain the strength to overcome these huge obstacles in our own lives. Hannah

SCOTTS THOUGHTS
Romans 12:1-2 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of Gods mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to Godthis is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what Gods will ishis good, pleasing and perfect will. In my time as worship and outreach minister here at 5th Ave. We have focused our efforts on becoming more like Christ and inviting others to do the same. The call of Christianity is to follow Jesus with all that we are. We are to be constantly changing to be filled with love for God and overflowing with that love to be a blessing to others. A few days ago I heard someone say: Our children are missionaries we are sending to a time that we will never see. She was referring to the ripple effect our actions have that will outlive our own involvement. The seeds we sow today and others water tomorrow, as God brings the increase, may become the preachers and teachers for another generation. When we pour our hearts out in worship to God and invite others to do the same, we fulfill the great commission. When we love others as Christ does and call them to surrender their lives to follow Him, we become ambassadors for Jesus. When we cross social boundaries and reach out to the lost, the weary and the weak, we are living a Christ like life. There is no room for complacency. We are called to renew our minds daily that we might be continually in a state of transformation. Until Christ returns, our mission remains to seek and save the lost. May we continue to declare Christ as Lord through our lives given in surrender and obedience to the great commission he has given. May we daily die to self and live for him and may God receive the glory. Thank you for the opportunity to serve alongside you. As a family, we want you to know how much you have meant to us and please know that we continue to pray for you and are asking Gods richest blessings on this congregation.

Core Values...
Values central to the life, mission and vision of Fifth Avenue Church of Christ are: Christ-Centered Worship
We make it a priority every Sunday to celebrate Jesus through our music. (Romans 11:36-12:1-2). We focus on Jesus through gracebased preaching and teaching & understand the Bible is our authority (2 Timothy 3:16).

Church Health and Biblical Balance

Church health becomes reality when God's people seek harmony & live consistently. We expect every member to protect the unity of Christ's Church. (Romans 12:16; 1 Peter 3:8)

Global Evangelism
We are constant to our founding call to worldwide evangelism, proclaiming to all that Jesus Christ is the Savior, Healer, and SoonComing King (Acts 20:27).

Fellowship and Ministry

After people begin their journey with Jesus, we will equip them to find a ministry based upon their strengths. We want everyone to serve in some capacity. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27) We also want His church to be the living evidence of His love and power to the world.

Discipleship
We do not want you to "get religion" here at Fifth Avenue Church of Christ in Lancaster. We are all about teaching you that Jesus seeks a daily relationship with Him through a life of obedience. In other words, we want to see the things you are taught actually change your lifestyle & your daily decisions.

How Can I Respond Today?

At FACC we look to the Bible for guidance on all issues. We believe that Gods Word is clear concerning what a person must do to become a Christian. Trust that Jesus can bring you to salvation. Turn (repent) from the sin in your life. Confess your desire to make Jesus the Lord of your life. Be baptized (immersed) in water for the forgiveness of sins and to receive the Holy Spirit into your life. To make this life decision for Christ, we ask that you come forward during our commitment song at the conclusion of the Sunday message. Baptized believers are welcome to become members at FACC by coming forward on Sunday morning or by seeing our Senior Minister to discuss this further. We ask that you complete a series of Curious classes to help you better understand what you are committing to as a member.

Social Conscience
We place high value on the sanctity of human life, of Biblical marriage and morality, and we welcome ethnic diversity (Isaiah 56:7; Philippians 2:15-16).

Food for a Fish ~ The Whopping Story of Jonah and the Whale is a Mommy and Me book by Kelly Pulley. What happens when Jonah tries to run away from God rather than obeying Him? He learns a big, smelly lesson! True Valor is an adult fiction book by Dee Henderson. Lt. Gracie Yates spent her deployment catapulting off the deck of the USS George Washington in an F/A-18 Hornet. A self-assured naval aviator, she was flying to keep the peace while being ready for war. Major Bruce Stanton, Air Force Pararescue Jumper, had been pulling pilots and Special Forces soldiers from behind enemy lines for twelve years. Bruce knew Gracie was too good a pilot not to draw the tough flight assignments. She was on the front lines. If she got in trouble, his unit would get the call. With demanding jobs, deployed to different locations, they kept their relationship alive by writing love letters. In the face of danger, they both leaned on the truth that God is sufficient no matter what the circumstances. When shes shot down, hes got one mission - get Gracie out alive! Stop by the church library and check out a good book! If you have any questions about the library, contact Delores Payne.
