Work/Research Experience Senior Research Fellow (DBT) - June 2011- Till date, Department of Biochemistry & Cell Biology, Vision Research Foundation, Sankara Netheralaya, Chennai, Tamilnadu. Principal Investigator Prof. K.N. Sulochana Project: - Development of Therapeutic Peptides from Small leucine rich repeat Proteoglycan family for the inhibition of Tumor Angiogenesis Senior Research Fellow (UGC) - January 2010-May 2011, Department of Clinical Immunology, JIPMER, Pondicherry Principal Investigator Prof. V.S.Negi Project: - Immunological Studies on Pollen Allergy Study was undertaken to carry out the purification, immunochemical characterization, sequencing, and epitope analysis of major and mild allergen from the local plants of puducherry region. Molecular characteristics of the allergenic proteins are expected to greatly improve the management of patients with allergic disorders. The knowledge acquired will help to develop newer and more specific invitro and in vivo immunological tests and allergen specific immunotherapy protocols for the diagnosis and treatment of Allergic disorders

Project Assistant (DBT)- August 2007- February 2008 ,Allergy & Molecular Biology Lab, Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology, (CSIR) Delhi Principal Investigator Dr Naveen Arora Project: - Expression and purification of recombinant Allergen GST & Alcohol dehydrogenase from Epicoccum nigrum, and Alternaria alternate Project: - Assessment of Allergenicity and Toxicity in Genetically Modified Food The work which I am associated with was aimed to assess the allergenicity of Brassica juncea (mustard) expressing choline oxidase gene from bacteria Arthrobacter globiformis that provides resistance against abiotic stresses. Proteomics analysis, bioinformatics approach, in-vitro digestibility studies, specific sera screening, animal model studies were done to study Allergenicity of GM mustard. Comparative proteomics analysis by 2D electrophoresis has been done to analyze the GM and native mustard at the level of proteins and by IgE Immunoblot with mustard positive patients sera. Computational analysis was done to study allergenicity of protein sequence. Invitro digestibility and heat stability of proteins was also assessed. Specific IgE reactivity of native and GM mustard was compared by ELISA and skin tests in allergic patients. Animal model was developed by systemic exposure of GM and native mustard protein in Balb/c mice to study the immunological responses. Allergenicity of purified choline oxidase was also assessed using in-vivo and in-vitro studies. In some other studies, Osmotin protein isolated from tobacco and introduced in plants for abiotic stress tolerance and antifungal activity was cloned and expressed in pET 22b+ vector and purified by chromatographic techniques. Safety of osmotin will be studied by invivo and in-vitro studies.. Project Trainee - July 2006-June 2007, Allergy & Molecular Biology Lab, Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology, (CSIR) Delhi Principal Investigators Dr Naveen Arora and Dr Beeena Pillai Project: - Standardization of Protein Microarray for Diagnosis of Type 1 Hypersensitivity Protein microarrays provide a powerful strategy for viral diagnostics, prognostication, etc. However, a protein chip for detection of allergens has not yet been developed although couple of recent publications has addressed the possibility. Microarray technology allows one to immobilize a large number of proteins on to smaller surfaces and thus offers a platform to test IgE activities in a single step that requires low volume of serum. This experiment involves Preparation and standardization of extract from pollen, fungi and insects, Recombinant expression and purification of 3 allergenic proteins from diverse sources, Standardization of protein printing methods on solid support, Detection of protein-antibody interactions on micro-arrays, Testing of coated

slides with hypersensitive patients sera and normal control, Specific IgE evaluation using patient sera by microarray and ELISA Project Trainee- December 2003 to May 2004, Biotechnology Department. Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (ICAR) Bangalore. Principal Investigator Dr Lalitha Anand Project: DNA Finger Printing& Genetic Relatedness among Indian Mango Varieties by Using RAPD & ISSR Primers Study was aimed to drawn a DNA fingerprints among the Indian mango varieties. By taking three hybrid varieties of mango (Arka Anmol, Arka Aruna, Arka Neelkiran) developed by IIHR and three mango varieties of Indian mango (Rathanagiri Alphonso, Samparpatti Totapuri, and Totapuri). DNA Fingerprints were done by using 50 RAPD Oligo primers (OPE, OPS, OPI) and 20 ISSR primers and genetic relatedness were measured between the mango varieties by Statistical Analysis tools .
