JET 9 RDO OWNERS, STOP ASSEMBLING YOUR BIKE AND READ THIS!

Additional information or updates to this and other documents available in the DOWNLOADS section at WWW.NINERBIKES.COM.

Getting Started: We know youre excited to get your new ride built. Carefully follow the instructions and you will get out on the trail sooner than if you have to redo everything. You will need: 3MM HEX WRENCH 4MM CABLE HOUSING 6X CABLE HOUSING ENDS PROPER HEADSET PRESS 2X HOUSING ANCHORS 1. We design the Jet9 RDO to have the easiest possible internal cable routing while still holding to all our our design criteria. We want it to be easily serviceable and maintain quality friction free shifting for many, many miles. We feel that we have achieved our goals and made one of the best internal systems on the market. That said, all internal cable routing can be a little more complicated than external routing. However, after reading this you should have no problem setting up your new bike. If this is not the first time installing cables and housing on your bike skip to page 2 for more tips. Your Jet 9 RDO comes with temporary nylon guide tubes preinstalled in the frames downtube and driveside chainstay. Temporarily push the nylon tubes into the downtube to allow headset and fork installation. Install your headset, fork and handlebar per the manufacturers directions. Install shifters, brakes and grips and measure the length of the housing needed for the front of the bike (right shifter, non-drive side of the badge). You will want to cross the cables at the head tube to help decrease any bending in the housing. Remove the upper bolt on the shock. This allows the suspension to cycle and it gives you more access throughout the routing procedure. Remove the fork to gain access to the temporary nylon tubes and pull enough tubing out that the ends are accessible for cable routing. Thread your cables through the headbadge and all the way through the downtube guide tubes and then pull these tubes out of the frame (do not remove chainstay guide yet). Be careful not to cross the cables more than once in the frame as it can cause poor shifting. Pass the cables through the cable chuck and then bolt the chuck in place. Put the cable into the temporary nylon guide tube in the driveside chain stay until it comes out the other end. Now you can pull this nylon tube out of the frame. Cut a section of the 4MM cable housing that will pass through the chainstay. You will want to make sure that the housing is a little longer than you need. You can trim off the excess in the end. From the rear dropout, thread the housing (with endcap installed) onto the cable, inside the frame and then out the front of the chainstay.

10. Put the end of the housing into the cable chuck and cycle the suspension. Make sure that there is enough of a loop under the bottom bracket - too little may cause ghost-shifting. 11. Slide one of the housing anchors over the housing where it enters the front of the chain stay and push the anchor in place until it rests in the routing hole. Repeat this process for the rear cable exit hole on the chain stay. 12. Reinstall the shock bolt and install the rest of your components.

MORE TIPS FOR SECOND TIME CABLE INSTALL: The biggest difference when re-cabling your bike will be the lack of temporary nylon guide tubes in the frame to aid in routing. These tips will help you get the cables through the frame. 1. Pull all your cables out of the frame, but do not remove your housing. Your old housing will act as a temporary guide tube for your new cables, and your new cables will help you to install new housing. Pass a cable through the housing then pull the housing out. The cable will act as a guide for reinstalling new housing. To get the cables through the down tube, first remove the cable chuck. Use your old housings as templates for the new housings at the front of the bike. Remove the fork from the frame. Now run a 4ft section of old housing from the cable exit hole under the bottom bracket and pull it out of the lower headset cup. Put the new cable into the shifter and put the new housing on the cable. Run the cables through the head tube badge and pull the cables out the bottom headset cup. Put the cable into the housing until the cable comes out the end of the housing. Pull the housing out of the frame and the cable will be routed. Repeat for the other shift cable.
