INSTALLATION ============ The installation program installs GSP, the database engine, a number of sample engine models/projects, map files, and the help manual. To uninstall the program, open the Control Panel, then Add/Remove Programs. Click the GSP program in the list and press the Add/Remove button. Updates for GSP are installed using the known installation path and known program group name. Note that with a major upgrade (i.e. from version 10 to 11) the newer installation will be installed over the previous using the defualt installation path. It is recommended to change the installation path and program group when a major upgrade is installed. INSTALLATION PROBLEMS ===================== 1) There are problems when installing GSP on Windows 2000/XP/Vista systems with user rights lower than Administrator rights. Avoid the problem by logging in as an administrator or as a user with equivalent rights during installation. 2) If an existing older GSP installation already resides on the computer, some problems may occur related to model versions and the Borland Database Engine version. These problems may be avoided by de-installing the old GSP first and also deleting the installation folder (default \Program Files\NLR\GSP\). You may want to save your own model and map files to another temporary folder and copy them back after installation. RELEASE NOTES ============= Read relnotes.txt in the installation directory! A manual (.pdf) and a compiled html pages (.chm) manual are installed. A pdf reader is required to open the GSP_UM_xx.pdf manual (download adobe acrobat reader from www.adobe.com). The gsp.chm file can be opened directly by double clicking it from windows explorer, or alternatively start is from the main application using the help menu. Note that xx denotes the main GSP version. Important: A Microsoft security patch now prevents HTML Help .CHM files from being opened on network drives. "Action canceled!" will be displayed instead of the topic text. When you distribute this CHM file, please ensure that it gets installed on the local C: drive. New users are advised to read at least the "Quick start basics" section in the on-line help and go through the tutorial to learn the basic tasks.
