Assistant Manager (Mechanical Design)

LOCATION : DEPARTMENT SECTION Design Mechanical

A.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: To Lead engineering activities from project conceptualization, contracting phase up to execution phase for companys present and future power projects. To do inter disciplinary coordination amongst all disciplines at OFFICE and be a single point coordinator from OFFICE with respect to Head office/Site and Contractor/Suppliers To Co-ordinate with O&M team for resolving the Engineering related issues.

B.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Critical 1. To Lead a team of engineers who will be doing the following activities Calculation of equipment capacities for various mechanical equipments and systems and Preparation of equipments and system specifications for projects Technical evaluation of bids/offers submitted by vendors/EPC contractors to prepare Bid evaluation report and extend the technical support for the ordering and contracting process Preparing P&IDs, defining the controls and interlocks logics, sizing and specifying of piping, valves, control valves, specifying instrumentation requirements, controls and interlock logics and interfacing and coordination with electrical, instrumentation & controls and civil disciplines. Preparation of Engineering drawings /documents such as Plot plan, Design Criteria, detailed Layouts, Interface Drawings etc. Intofficeonnecting piping engineering consisting of preparation of the piping layouts, piping isometrics, supports engineering, stress analysis, Bill of quantities and procurement specifications.

Important

1. To Lead and supervise a team of engineers and to do inter disciplinary coordination amongst all disciplines at OFFICE and be a single point coordinator from OFFICE with respect to Head office/Site, Contractor/Suppliers and External consultant for the following activities.

Review and approval of Engineering & design documents/drawings submitted by EPC contractors /Package vendors in close co-ordination with project team. Review the inspection and shop performance test results of equipments. Review the final Plant Performance Guarantee Test procedures, witness the PG test and review and approve the test reports.

2. To Lead all engineering discussions with contractors / suppliers / external consultants and to participate in design review meetings and project review meetings Others Conducting knowledge sharing sessions Participating in the external Technical meeting Review of O&M documents Review and certify the As-Built drawings Package interfacing and coordination.

of their documents. Clarifying the queries of vendor on the specification / documents / drawings etc.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Reporting to Head Mechanical Design

Please note that the reporting relationship in case of vacancy in the above position will be to the next immediate superior in the respective department.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
B.E Mechanical Engineering with 8+ Yrs of Experience in Knowledge on Conceptual Design, Basic engineering, Layouts for Thermal power plants with mechanical software and content knowledge of design codes like IBR, ASME, BS, API & TEMA, etc..
