Job Description
Academy 360 is a Health and Wellness Expeditionary Learning Elementary School authorized
to open in Far Northeast Denver in Fall 2013 with Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade. At full expansion, the school will serve pre-natal through 5th grade students. At Academy 360, we are driven by the mission to develop students minds, bodies, and characters so they may lead healthy and fulfilling lives in school, college, and beyond. Our vision is to set a new precedent for what a school offers its community. Through a School Based Health Center, continually expanding our wrap-around services, and growing to serve Pre-natal through 5th grade, we seek provide a 360-degree education.

We are currently seeking 6 full time founding teachers for Primary grades to start mid-July 2013. Founding Teachers will demonstrate a drive for and commitment to our Core Values:
o Maximizing Potential - Every student can achieve at high level. Goals, data cycles, assessments, and strategic performance management will be used to maximize each student's and teacher's potential. Health and Wellness - School culture, structures, and instructional design reflect a comprehensive commitment to health & wellness. The proposed School-Based Health Center and Outreach Services expansion plan will extend this mission to the surrounding community. Community First - Academy 360 seeks to serve the unique needs of its community and to engage family and community members in the educational development of their students. Passion Principle - Passion is a gateway to effort, joy, and achievement. The inquiry-based curriculum and student-engaged assessment practices connect students to a passion for learning. The evaluation and coaching structures facilitate passion-driven improvement for teachers and administrators to continually serve their students more effectively.

Contribute to the ongoing development of Academy 360 in an environment with transparent decision-making, opportunities to participate in the decision-making process, and open, structured feedback pathways.

Ideal K-2 candidates will have:


Or be able to acquire, a Colorado teaching certificate in Early Childhood or Elementary Education; Masters degree preferred. Experience teaching in an urban setting, ideally with English Language and Diverse Needs Learner Certificate Proven effectiveness, or passion for leading students from low-income backgrounds to significant academic gains Proven ability to plan and implement a standards-based curricula Proven ability to contribute to a high-performing team, along with strong communication and interpersonal skills Knowledge of child development and best practices for teaching, along with experience in primary classrooms Experience with Expeditionary Learning, Experiential Education, Project Approach, or other Inquiry or Investigation based teaching and learning model preferred. Demonstrated commitment to and thirst for continuously improving teaching through rigorous coaching and professional development and a data-focused mindset about their practice. Demonstrated ability to work effectively informally and formally with individuals and families of diverse make-up, cultures and communities. Bilingual communication skills (Spanish/English)
