Message One day, Jesus was speaking to a crowd of people who were interested in hearing the Word of God. He saw some fishermen standing by near the water and decided to go over to them. They look discouraged because they had not got a good catch. Jesus told them to go out into the deep and let down their nets again. They were not too happy to hear advice from someone who had not been fishing as long as they had. Nevertheless, they knew this man was different and they listened to him. This man was Jesus. They went out into the deep and to their amazement; they caught so many fish they did not know what to do with them all. Jesus then told them that from now on they were to fish for men rather than fish.

The one fisherman, Simon Peter, was so touched he fell at Jesus feet. Jesus then called 11 other men to follow him. These men were called disciples. Jesus had an important job for them to do and he wanted them to spend some time with Him to know how to do the job he had for them. It was to evangelize. Jesus came to evangelize the world and he needed some help here on earth to continue his job upon His return to heaven. We are all commanded to go into the world and preach the Gospel. Jesus wants us to share the Good News to those around us. He wants us to make extra effort to do this, and go to those who need to hear about Him. We must tell others that God loves them, and cares for them. He is preparing a place for all those who believe on His name.

Application I have a bag of M&Ms with me. I am going to give some to (select a child). Give the child five M&Ms and (whisper in ear) tell them to give four of them away to two different people. Tell those two people to keep one and give one away to two other people. STOP. Ask how many kids were given an M&M. There should be five people who got an M&M. Tell them to begin with that you only gave them to one person. If we invite two people to church and they attend, that makes two more. If those two invite someone to church that is another two more which makes how many? See if they know the answer. Give every child an M&M.

Discussion Questions 1. Who is someone that you can evangelize to this week?

2. In what ways, can we evangelize? 3. Why does God want us to evangelize others? 4. How did Jesus use the disciples, and why did he need them?

Game Cut out fish using cardstock. Write one word for the verse on each card. Place in an envelope. Make two complete sets. Have two kids come up at a time and put the verse together in the correct sequence. Allow two more to come up following them. Do as many as you have time for. Every time one group completes the verse stop and say it all tighter than go one to the next two kids. Option: You can use several to put each one together if you wish.
