VENTING OR TESTING VALVES This valve is installed wherever the venting is required. Sometimes, a suitable screwed plug can also be installed in the place of venting valves. This valve can also be used for testing purpose with a suitable screwed plug fitted on the other side of the valve. This plug can be of standard and capable of being removed to enable the test instrumentation to be connected. This valve should be of needle type. These valves are always located as close to the measuring device as possible. Most of the Pressure Transducers are supplied with a suitable plug for venting purpose. However it is necessary in the impulse pipe in order to ensure proper venting of the gas bubbles or air that may be collected at the end of the impulse pipe and by providing vent pipe, venting can be carried safely without disconnecting the instruments.
EQUALISING VALVES These valves must be fitted inter-connecting the pipes differential pressure measuring device where both the impulse lines are filled with liquid and this valve will facilitate equalizing the measuring instruments while on load. These valves should be of needle type.
BLOWDOWN VALVES OR DRAIN VALVES These valves are fixed at the lowest end of impulse pipe. In the case of high pressure line always 2 valves shall be fitted in series. Normally, these valves will be of globe type. For low pressure application, single valve is sufficient. In case of air and flue gas measurements, either a plug or a suitable gate valve of gun metal on/off valve can be provided. Normally the drain valve shall be connected to the common drain header which finally is terminated at plate operation drain system.
