EE 310 Electronic Circuit Design I Summer 2011 Assignment 6

Due: Monday, July 25, in class It is recommended that you complete the chapter 5 and 6 problems on this assignment before July 21 as practice for Exam 2. BJT Small-signal Operation BJT Amplifiers Linear Op-amp Circuit Design BJT amplifiers can be analyzed by using an appropriate small-signal model. Since the BJT is a threeterminal device, it is possible for it to be connected in one of three amplifier configurations: common emitter (CE), common base (CB), or common collector (CC). For each circuit we find the small-signal AC properties (gain, input and output resistances). A comparison of the values of these properties provides a basis for choosing a particular BJT amplifier configuration in a design. The op amp in linear circuit design requires the use of negative feedback. Practical op amps approach the ideal device in performance, and thus this assumption is often made in the initial design. We begin by analyzing the basic inverting and noninverting amplifier stages.
