Semi-Permanent Classroom Project Technical Scope of Works: Construction Works


OBJECTIVE

The key objectives is to construct 6m x 16m classroom blocks located at Dorro Refugee camp in Maban city that will improve learning space environment for children and school administration.
STATEMENT OF WORK AND DESCRIPTION OF DELIVERABLES A. GENERAL CONDITIONS

The sub-contractor shall provide the following: The Sub-contractor shall provide all technical staff, skilled and unskilled labor, tools and execute the construction works to be done and as described in the subcontract, and to execute this work safely, timely, professionally and economically. The Sub-contractors responsibilities shall include: 1. The Sub-contractor shall execute and complete the Works in accordance with the Drawings provided by Save the Children subcontract and with Save the Children Construction Teams instructions, and shall remedy all defects in the Works. 2. The Sub-contractor shall be responsible for the adequacy, stability and safety of all Site operations and of all methods of construction. Except to the extent specified in the subcontract, the Sub-contractor shall be responsible for all sub-contractors Documents, Temporary Works, and shall not otherwise be responsible for the design or specification of the Permanent Works. 3. The Sub-contractor shall take all necessary measures to control dust and mud and stormwater from the operations, and to prevent spillage of excavated materials on public and private roads and facilities 4. The Contractor shall employ the best practical means to minimize noise and vibration produced by the operations 5. Disbursement Schedule: There will be no advance paid for mobilization.
B. SPECIFICATIONS FOR SEMI-PERMANENRT CLASSROOMS CONSTRUCTION SUBPROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Semi-Permanent Classrooms of 6m width and 16m length and of height as shown in the drawings shall be constructed for this subproject and shall be at the following locations in Dorro Refugee camp, as stipulated in the drawings: Nur School, Unity School

Jamhur School Dares Salem School

The proposed improvements will include: All necessary demolition works and removal of debris, etc. created by said works The diversion of flow and bailing out of water Excavation of foundation Plain cement concrete and reinforced concrete works as specified in this scope of works and subproject drawings Cement masonry works as specified in this scope of work and subproject drawings Construction of Semi-Permanent Classrooms as specified in the drawings

1. MOBILIZATION AND DEMOBILISATION 1.1 Mobilization This work consists of moving personnel, tools and equipment to the subproject site and performing all preparatory work necessary before starting construction. The cost of mobilization is included in the BOQ and shall include movement of tools, equipment and personnel to the site and shall include (but not necessarily be limited to): a) Provision of any required access and detour roads, within and outside the construction site; b) Provision of transportation for all personnel and tools as necessary. 1.2 Demobilization Payment for demobilization shall be compensation in full for the costs of removing tools, equipment, facilities, and personnel from the site and shall include (but not necessarily be limited to): a) b) c) d) Transportation of any temporary plant from the site; Dismantling, demolishing, and removing of all temporary facilities on the site; Restoration of all construction site areas to a satisfactory condition; Cleaning up the site.

The cost of demobilization is specified in the BOQ and must be completed to the satisfaction of the Save the Children Construction Team. This item shall be payable only in respect of the whole of the Works and shall not apply in cases of sectional completion.

SITE CLEARANCE, SETTING OUT ALLIGNMENTS, EARTHWORKS 2.1 SITE CLEARANCE The site clearance shall cover all the operations required in full, as instructed by the Save the Children Construction Team, for clearing the site and its surroundings, including providing labour, tools, equipments and incidentals necessary to complete the work. It will also include handling, salvaging, piling or stacking or collecting and disposing off cleared materials. 2.2 SETTING OUT After the site clearance operations have been carried out, the Sub-contractor shall do all setting out required including the limits of excavation set to true levels, lines, curves, slopes, grades and sections, etc. as shown on the drawings or as directed by the Save the Children Construction Team. 3. EARTHWORKS Earthworks shall include excavation and backfilling works. 3.1 EXCAVATION WORKS Excavation works shall include the careful removal of all the materials of whatever nature and whether dry or wet, exactly in accordance with the lines, levels, grades, curves and dimensions etc. shown on the drawings or as directed by the Save the Children Construction Team, taking exact widths and levels of the lowest step of the foundations, footing, basement, etc. and the sides shall be left plumb where the nature of soil permits it. 3.2 BACKFILLING WORKS Backfilling works shall include the filling in of foundations, trenches, etc. with selected materials from the excavation as instructed by Save the Children Construction Team. Selected material filling shall be free from roots, debris or any other foreign matter. All clods of selected material shall be broken or removed. Where the excavated material is mostly rock, the boulders shall be broken into pieces not bigger than 15 cm in size in any direction, and shall be mixed with fine materials and fill the voids as far as possible. The approved material for filling shall be approved by Save the Children Construction Team before the Sub-contractor can fill the specified areas. 4. CONSTRUCTION The Sub-contractor, as instructed by the Save the Children Construction Team, shall implement all construction works. Construction works shall include the following activities: Production of snadcrete blocks Construction/installation of necessary formworks Pouring of mass concrete footings

Pouring and ramming and compaction of marram floors Fabrication and setting of reinforcement steel bars Laying of masonry block foundation walls and columns Anti-termiting of all necessary timber materials Fabrication and installation of timber roofing frames Installation of CI roofing sheets Any necessary painting works All defects works associated with construction Any other required construction activities as instructed by the Save the Children Construction Team

5. VISITING AND TESTING Routine site visits covering inspection and testing shall be carried out by Save the Children Construction Team to test the quality of workmanship for compliance with the requirements of drawing and technical scope of works. If required by Save the Children Construction Team, test specimen shall be provided by the Sub-contractor at his expense if required at locations selected by the Save the Children Construction Team. 6. MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT The unit of measurement for all works shall be units specified in the subcontract drawings. Payments shall be made as agreed in the subcontract payment conditions and schedule. The Subcontractor shall submit all payment requests to the Save the Children Construction Team for verifications and certifications, and subsequent submission to the Save the Children Maban office Team Leader for approval and subsequent payments.
