BUACA MANDATORY RIDING RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR ALL BUDDY RUNS QUEENSLAND 2013

All children must be supervised by a competent rider and or a buddy run coordinator, the co-ordinator member must be a committee member All Riders that participate with a child on their motorbike must have a current working with children check in place (QLD)(WA)(VIC)(NSW) At no times whilst a buddy run is being held will there be alcohol consumption until the buddy run has been completed. No rider who has consumed alcohol or drugs, are permitted to take any guest of the BUACA for rides and or is permitted to take part in the buddy run. All children taking part in the buddy run must first have permission from their parent or guardian. (written consent forms will be provided if need be) All passengers on motorcycles are required to be a minimum age of eight years old (except those in a sidecar). This is in addition to current requirements that motorcycle pillion passengers wear an approved motorcycle helmet and those seated behind the rider need to be facing forward with their feet on the pillion footrests. This amendment aligns Queensland with the motorcycle passenger requirements in the Australian Road Rules. All children passengers must wear an approved legal helmet at all times whilst on a motor cycle including off road travel. All children must be wearing the correct minimal personnel protective equipment which includes; legal helmet/ enclosed foot wear/ long pants and glasses ( full face helmet and riding jacket optional) All children and their parents/caregivers must be made aware of the hazards involved with being a passenger, therefore it is the responsibility of the rider to provide all the relevant safety information and safe passenger techniques which includes.. Mounting and dismounting the motorcycle/ the safest way for the passenger to hold on when in motion and where to hold onto/ minimal movement at all times whilst in motion (no horse play) how to get the riders attention if need be to pull over and or slow down if need be (continuously tap rider on the back until his or hers attention is noticed then rider must adhere and pull over immediately where safe.) All riders to stay at or under the speed limit and follow all road rules at all times, If a child feels disturbed or unsafe, rider is to immediately pull over to the side of the road to calm child and then contact ride coordinator asap.
