Club News Edition 13 For 2013

JUNIOR CLUB NEWS 13 (ROUND 12)

We had another great weekend for football. The rain held off until the evening it tried at the end of the U14s game and the start of the U16 game. The Youthgirls and the U16 sides both had forfeits from the opposition teams. The U16 were lucky enough to have a scratch match with Spotswood, we received some great feedback from Spotswood about our U16 side displayed, well done boys. This Saturday at 9:15am we have our Youthgirls play at home for the last time this season and on Sunday the Senior Womens team have their last game at home for the season. It would be great to see a crowd get along to cheer them on, to show our support for the girls and Womens teams. We are looking to have games and activities on presentation day. To make this possible, we are going to be in need of helpers on this day to cook the BBQ, and to assist with the games and activities. We are looking to make this a great fun day for the kids but we need your help. Please contact Adam on 0457 005 767 if you are able to assist in any way. The Wyndhamvale sports club has a $5,000.00 raffle draw in November. This raffle is to help the club purchase new equipment to move to our new facilities in the new year. Tickets are $50.00 each, including free drinks between 11:00am -1:00pm, finger food supplied, please see Adam Kimpton to purchase tickets. The raffle will be drawn on 24/11/2013, last ticket drawn is the winner. If you have any news for our newsletter, game milestones, etc please email wynjnrfalcons@gmail.com and we can also pass this information onto the league. Good luck to all teams for the weekend. WYNDHAMVALE V SPOTSWOOD

We were looking forward to playing Spotswood this week but unfortunately they had to give a walkover when they couldnt muste r enough players. All was not lost though and we still managed to have a game thanks to Spotswood suggesting we have a scratch match. We lent them 4 different players each quarter so we could have 18 a side. There were a few highlights during the game including Spotswood allowing Jacko to lead out their side at the start of the game, this caused quite a bit of mirth in the group as I was trying to talk to them on the ground. Other highlights included Huss cleaning up Stefan after he disposed of the ball, Sheldon throwing grass at Stefan who was having a shot on goal and giving away a 50 metre penalty and a certain goal. But the two best highlights involved our ball magnet Rocket who had a towering mark taken over him by a Spotswood player using him as a stepladder and then later in the game being run down and tackled by Carlos. The game was played in the right spirit which I was very pleased with and we all had a bit of fun. Thats all folks, Bomber

Under 12s This week we played Williamstown at home with a very undermanned team. School holidays are always tough on our team as many families go away. With only 16 players to Williamstown 17, we were able to pinch little Dylan Marcon from the Under 10s to help us even up the numbers. What a fantastic game you played mate, thankyou very much for stepping up and topping it off with a goal of your own. A great game was also had by Ryan in the back line, we have never seen so many marks and kicks in one game keep it up mate. Tommy, Jake S and Iziah on the ball also had a big day, with lots of run and fantastic kicks into the forward line. We stood up well to the challenge and came home with the points. 3 goals to Arden in the forward line had us win by 19 points. Well done to all the boys and to our parent helpers. Goals: Arden 3, Tommy 1, Jake S 1, Dylan 1 (under 10s) Best: Ryan, Arden, Tommy, Iziah, Jake S, James and Dylan Well done Boys Charlie

Under 13s Although the scoreboard doesn't reflect it, the boys had a ripper of a game today. The first quarter was fantastic, everyone was putting in 100%. We looked a bit tired in the second but we picked up halfway through and levelled the scores late in the quarter until Nth Footscray popped another goal through. We scored more today than any other game this season, and we've had a tough season so far. We were unlucky not to have won today. Everyone busted their guts and should be proud of their efforts. You all had a go. Well done to Liam P who booted a goal and earned himself $50! Cam did a fantastic job, Coops had a great game, the back line were good all day. Trae played a fair game, Mawot was great. I was rapt with today's efforts. You are a great bunch of kids, keep your heads held high boys. Goals: Coops 4, Liam P 1, Liam G 1, Rhys 1. Best: (Everyone but I had to pick 6) Cam, Kallam, Deccy, Boog, Coops and Trae. Score: Nth Footscray 12-16-88 def Wyndhamvale 8-10-58.

Under 9s Match report not submitted Under 14s Match report not submitted Under 11s Match report not submitted Youth Girls Game was cancelled UNDER 10'S This week we versed Peg's jnr's. We played them earlier in the year and we knew exactly what we were up against. So we decided to use this game as a learning curve. Peg's under 10's team were 7 and 8 year olds and for once they asked us to borrow some players. Of course we did so, as week in and week out we have had to borrow players from other teams. They have only scored 2 goals for the whole season and we knew we had to change that. There is nothing better then seeing your child and their elation at kicking that red ball through the big sticks. So every quarter we lent them 2 players. First to go over was Cody and Brandan. I gave the kids that were going over to help out Peg's Jnr's a job. I told them to get the ball in their 50 and pass it off to one of the peg's players. They did exactly that. Kirra kicked the first goal of the game and her first goal of the year. I have never seen her dad, Darren who was the goal umpire, wave those white flags as vigorously as he did. Well done Kirra. Riley also kicked his first goal for the season. Well done mate. In the second quarter Gunny and Dylan went over, and Dylan did as i asked and that led to one of the pegs players kicking a goal. Both coach's went crazy!! Jemma came out firing in the second quarter kicking 2 goals. Her first goals of the season. We knew you had it in you. Well done. In the 3rd quarter, Aaron and Shak asked if they could go play for the opposition. I have never been so proud. So off they went and Aaron did an amazing job at passing the ball to a Peg's player and he kicked a goal. Jemma kicked another goal, as well as Gunny and Dylan. In the 4th quarter, Jemma and Jordan went over to help Peg's out. I told the back line, to spread out completely and this allowed Pegs players to get the ball down to their 50 and score another goal. Kirra wanted another goal, and she got it. Braiden, Zac and Shak also added to the goal list. You are such a great bunch of kids and today proved that. Best - Team effort. Well Done our little superstars. Shane. PS. Well done to Dylan who helped out the under 12's after our game and kicked a goal!!! Good Job. Womens Wyndhamvale 9-6-60 def Jacana 2-4-16

Away at Jacana , dry windy conditions for our contest this week. Jacana had first use of a very nice breeze scoring only a couple of goals. Our defence worked very well keeping the ball wide and continually clearing it with strong tackles and running teamwork. The second quarter saw us open up the game scoring 4 goals and keeping them scoreless. The handball out of congestion is becoming second nature, this is continually creating space and time to have a better kick forward. The structure of not overcrowding our forward 50 also allowed us better shots on goal. The third quarter was very tight contested footy, Jacana were very intent on having at least 2-3 players at every contest, there were not many chances to have a clear run at anything making this a pretty scrappy game. Our fourth quarter stretched the lead out to 44 points also keeping them scoreless again. It was great to see and hear the teamwork and support around the ground. Huge improvement on last week. We must all continue to build on our fitness and skills in the next few weeks. Finals are not far away!!!!! Best- Andy, Bridgie, Meagan, Kayla, Millsy, Nicky.
