PASSPORT Persons travelling to Suriname should have in their possession a travel document or passport that is valid for 6 months from the date of intended travel. The following matrix lists a number of countries (CARICOM Member and Associate Member States are highlighted in blue) and specific notes regarding visa to enter Suriname:

TOURIST CARD As of 25 November 2011, nationals of the following countries who are travelling to Suriname for vacation are eligible to purchase a Tourist Card or apply for a visa:

The Tourist Card is a short term, single entry and expires after 90 days. It must be purchased from the Embassy of the Republic of Suriname before the intended travel to Suriname since it is not guaranteed that an officer will be on duty at the given time to issue one in Suriname at the J. A. Pengel Airport (or Zanderij International Airport). TOURIST CARD REQUIREMENTS: 1. 2. 3. For some other reasons than vacation, persons who would like to visit Suriname on business, attend conferences, training and the like, will be required to apply for a business visa prior to arrival in Suriname and must fulfil the business visa requirements.

CANAWAIMA FERRY SERVICE AT MOLESON CREEK Persons travelling to Suriname via Road will have to drive to Moleson Creek to access the Canawaima Ferry to cross over to Suriname. Moleson Creek is a community on the Corentyne River in the East Berbice-Corentyne region of Guyana, located at 5300N 57150W / 5.50000N 57.25000W / 5.50000; -57.25000. It is north of Orealla Mission, 10 km (6.2 mi) south of Corriverton, and approximately 90 km (56 mi) from New Amsterdam. Since 1998, the CANAWAIMA ferry connects Moleson Creek with South Drain in Suriname. This is the only legal connection between the two countries. IMPORTANT INFORMATION WHILE ON THE ROAD Travel Time Georgetown to Suriname The trip from Georgetown to Moleson Creek is approximately 3 hours. The ferry crossing to Suriname is 30 minutes and about 4 hours drive to Paramaribo. Persons should take into consideration roughly another 2 hours, depending on the number of persons, for customs/immigration checkpoints in Guyana and Suriname. VEHICLES/DRIVERS All drivers should have in their possession the following documents Valid License Vehicle Registration Road License Car Fitness Certificate Suriname Insurance Policy for Vehicle: A one-month Suriname Insurance Policy from any insurance company in Guyana. The duration of the visit would however determine the insurance policy period and the insurance company should therefore advise accordingly. Authorization from Owner of Vehicle: In cases where the vehicle is not registered in the drivers name, an authorization should be obtained from the owner and, in addition, should be signed by a Justice of Peace.
THE CANAWAIMA FERRY SERVICE AT MOLESON CREEK The Ferry Service operates from Monday to Sunday as follows: First crossing of the ferry is scheduled to depart at 9:00am every day. Persons should arrive before 8:00am for booking/check-in and processing of documents with the Ferry Service and the Customs/Immigration Unit. All booking/check-in commences at 6:30am and closes at 8:00am for the first crossing.

Second crossing of the ferry is scheduled to depart at 1:00pm every day. Persons should arrive before 12:00pm for booking/check-in and processing of documents with the Ferry Service and the Customs/Immigration Unit. All booking/check-in commences at 10:30am and closes at 12:00pm for the second and last crossing of the day. Ferry Fares can be paid in Guyana Dollars or Unites States Dollars and is calculated at the current US exchange rate. These are as follows: o o o Adults - from 12years will be charged US$15 or G$3,000 Children from 3-12 years old will be charged US$10 or G$2,060 Vehicles are based on weight/class and fares are separate from individual fares. See the matrix on Page 20 for details:
ITEMS/GOODS ON VEHICLE Persons transporting items/goods to Suriname should note the following: Requirements for Customs A customs broker should prepare a customs declaration document which should be processed at: Customs and Excise Department 200-201 Camp Street, Georgetown Telephone# (592)227-6060 or 227-8222 The processing fee is G$100.00 and should take about one week or less to complete. The document(s) should be presented to the Customs Office at Moleson Creek. The Brokerage fee is separate to the customs processing fee.
