General Description:

For your nal project, you are going to analyze data in the topic of your choice. You choose the question; you decide the methodology for collecting the data; you analyze the data using Chi-Square analysis. e question you choose can address almost any topic (although I have veto power). is project requires you to synthesize material from this class. You will be working in groups of two to three students. I will choose the groups randomly. Your project will utilize the internet and electronic presentation in several ways. On the day of the nal, each group will present their poster and video description. More information about the poster and video is listed below. Some sample topics from previous years (can't use an topic from this list): Is there a relationship between GPA and gender? Is there a relationship between gender and music choice? Is there a relationship between favorite subject and gender? Is there a relationship between age and tness level? Is there a relationship between birth order and success level? Good projects begin with a well-de ned and well thought out hypotheses. Make sure you choose a topic that interests you and that is not vague in nature.

Project Timeline:
Part I: Develop a project proposal. are: e questions that need to be answered

Group members? What is the topic of your project? What are the main issues or problems you plan on addressing? What are your plans about nding background information (if needed)? How do you plan on random collecting data? Be very speci c on the randomization of the survey. What follow up questions could be answered if further analysis is needed? What questions or concerns do you have about your project? is proposal needs to be typed in your penzu.comaccount. A copy of your survey needs to be embedded within the document. I will provide feedback to you within one week and an updated proposal needs to be submitted before moving forward. Part II: Creating a poster e second part of the project is to create an electronic poster on edu.glogster.com. e requirements of the poster are: Must have a description of the topic Must have a description of Chi-Square analysis Must have a step-by-step description of the Chi-Square process Step 1: Describe the null and alternate hypotheses Step 2: Create an observed table from the data from the surveys Step 3: Create an expected table based on theoretical probability Step 4: Calculate the Chi Square test statistics (show work) Step 5: Draw a bell curve comparing the test statistic and the value from the table (at a .05 level of signi cance). Make sure you list the degrees of freedom as well.

Step 6: Draw a conclusion. Make sure the conclusion relates to the topic idea. Must have a video tutorial to describe the process and your conclusion (see below). Part III: Screencast tutorial is third part of the project is intended to show me and the audience your thorough knowledge of Chi Square and the process of hypothesis testing. You can choose the software...some options are: Camtasia Studio (http:// www.techsmith.com/camtasia.html), Videothread (http://voicethread.com/), Quicktime (comes standard with Mac), Educreations (http:// www.google.com/search? client=safari&rls=en&q=educreations&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8), etc. You must embed this video within the poster. When creating the video, you should consider the audience is made up of individuals that have no knowledge of the concept. is entire project should be a multimedia rich analysis of your topic. All parts of the project should have a professional appearance.
