The report also explains the necessary preparation that the Watson Ltd needs to make before the setting up new space for the expansion of the office.

CASE OF MANGEIST LTD

As per the case, Mangeist Ltd is a company which is in the process of production. They are basically in the business of the providing plant and materials to the business that are involved in building zone. The major products that the company is producing on large scale are the Cement Mixers, Dump Trucks, Compressors and Pneumatic Drills, Lighting rigs, and Vibrating Plates. Now as per the requirement of the company the major analysis of the activities are done with the help of Critical Path evaluation process.

Now as per the data analysis the date when the work will finish is 8th May 2013.

If the following happened what would be the effect on the duration of the whole project? Explain the reasons Activity B is delayed 1 day In the situation when the activity B gets delay, it becomes a problem for the company as the activity such as C, D, E and F get delayed and the cost of the project will automatically increase. The activity will finish in 88 days only but with extra efforts. Activity P is delayed 1 day In the situation when the activity P gets delay, the process will be much affected but not up to that much as the project manager can proceed for the activity B to Q and can channelize the project completion. The activity will finish in 89 days. Activity 0 is delayed 2 days If the activity O gets delay the whole process will be delay as there is no end point to precede to the last activity that is Q. The activity will finish in 90 days. Explain the limitations of Network diagrams The major limitations of the critical path analysis in case of Mangeist Ltd. are as follows: The process of the critical path analysis is a time consuming method for the company. As the company is producing so many products at the same time, so it becomes tough for the management to find out the critical path form the entire paths available for the company. The time consumption can be dangerous for the company that is involved in the production process. The manager faces some of the problem if the activity is not available in broken part. If the company is having single activity for the production then there will be no application of the critical path analysis. The critical path analysis is sometimes not applicable in the practical situations as the company is allocating task to the employee on the basis of the situation demand. If the situation is critical and needs the action to be taken at a glance, then the critical path evaluation is valueless for the company. The shifting of the resources for the one task to the other becomes impossible if the critical path have been defined.

If the company is having many critical path of the same duration, then it becomes impossible for the company to decide the path that will be the most among the paths available.

CASE OF WATSON LTD

As per the case of the Watson Ltd, it is a company that is involved in the design and signage supply. The major organisations that are included in the list of Watson Ltd are Local Authorities, SME enterprises and large global companies. The success story of the company can be analyzed for the time period 2005. The company is trading with the workforce of 16 people with various designations as mentioned in the table below: Table 4: staff information
DESIGNATION General Manager Assistant Managers Administration staff Design and Sales Staff General Operations staff NUMBER OF STAFF 1 2 3 4 6

The company is planning for the expansion. The company is in a plan to open the office in a new building for the operation. The area required by the company for the building is positively 35,000 square metres. The major aim of the company is to focus on the customer of the Signage.

TASK 2
As per the shifting or opening the office at the new area is a tough task for every business organization. The company has to follow on the tangible and the intangible factors associated with the new opening ( Kloppenborg, 2011). The major factors are the physical infrastructure, land, material, documentation and efficient human resources in case f the tangible factors whereas the strategic orientation, mission and vision statements in case of the intangible factors. Both the factors are equally important for the company. As the company is planning for the expansion, there is a specific process through which the company can design the expansion. Before the expansion the company needs to consider some of the major issues that are foremost important to be discussed before the preparation of the expansion blue prints. As a consultant the first step is to prepare the flow chart that is helpful for the expansion ( Kousholt, 2007). 8

SELECTION OF THE LOCATION PERMISSION FROM THE AUTHORITIES OF THE LAND PROCUREMENT DEVELOPMENT IN CONTEXT OF INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT OF THE UTILITY SERVICES TESTING REVIEWING SHIFTING

Figure 2: Flowchart of the project

Selection of the location: - For the management it is important to search out for the location that can be suitable for the business. For the selection of the building it needs to be considered that the 35,000 square metres as the area for the perfect setup. Permission from the authorities of the land: - the second step is to take the permission from the authority that is been chosen for the set up of the infrastructure ( Murch, 2001). Procurement: - it is the development of the warehouse where the company can store the material for building the new infrastructure for the expansion. Development in context of infrastructure: - as per the requirement of the company the construction should be started for the development of the new warehouse that can be beneficial for the company in the future process. Development of the utility services: - the development of the new technology of the communication should be dome for the benefit of the employees of the company. the new infrastructure should be facilitated with a LAN connection for the better linkage between the branch of the company. Testing: - once all the above development has been over the company should test whether the implementation is been done in a better way. In this step the analysis of the whole infrastructure has been done. Reviewing: - as per the planning of the company in this step there is a comparison of the actual results with the planned one so that the company can take the corrective action for the improvement (Haynes, 2002). Shifting: - After completion of the above task the management of the company should proceed to shift all the material to the new infrastructure developed. As per the requirement of the company the project management process can be designed in the following manner as given below:

10

PROJECT CONTROL PROJECT CARRYING OUT PROJECT SCHEDULING PROJECT LAUNCH

PROJECT SHUT OUT

Figure 3: Project management process PLAN IMPLENMENTATIONS Step One: The internal structure of the office is to be designed according to the various staff and office accommodation for the company. The interior structure of the company must be designed in such a way so that it allots particular area for particular staff members. The place must be suitable to the organization (North West territories Canada, 2003). Step Two: Now the second step to set the equipments and furnish the office according there various section utilization. In interior design for the office will be implemented by furniture, lighting, flooring, partitions, ceiling etc. The second step includes the interior designing of the company. Each section of the company must be fully and well furnished according to the staff members. Every department must have the availability of proper lights, furniture and partitions (Inc, n.d). Step Three: After the second step there is requirement to discuss the financial issue with the time limit. That is the company is required to be established or shifted in time with minimum costing and in budget with no loss at all. It is a very important factors for leads the project further. Every company has to deal with the financial issues as these are very common in nature. In order to protect the company from loss, the bare essentials of the 11

company must be fulfilled with minimum cost. As the cost factor has direct relationship with the financial terms (Project management institute, 2004). Step Four: For starting WASTON LTD. and a vast supplier then the company has to be aware about proper team management and a perfect reserve for the trading and accounting management. The case is about the automobile company. Every organization must have to maintain some reserves for uncertain events. The revenue generated from trade can be used at the time of uncertainties if the company has maintained reserves (Project management institute, 2004). Step Five: The company has to take defensive measures to overcome phasing kind of issues for which various adapted are Insuring the stock and renewing it timely, insuring all entities included so as to recover them all in case of any uncertainty (Nagarajan, 2004).Above are the some common issues faced by every organization. Various preventive measures can be taken by the organization to overcome from these issues and some of the measures are manager must take proper information about every consignment so that it ensures the availability of remaining stock and that can be used at that time when there is unavailability of stock (Project management institute, 2004). Above mention the seven steps are cover the company aspect. Now are the actual implication aspects that can be followed for a successful performance of the company. There are some positive issues that must be considered and be made assured of company availability. Then the company to be able for future aspects well. formerly the company is physically established it must various studies like feasibility study, functional study and the detailed project analysis so its giving help for understand the market, evaluate itself and its strategies and then make it stand able with the market conditions. In the company, the feasibility study will help to analyze present situation so that the company will identify the areas where it needs to focus ( Mishra, 2009). The company can suffer feasibility analysis of its technical system, operational system and legal system, further, resource feasibility, financial feasibility and market feasibility these all are help the company in drafting its expansion strategies. These all are considering the WASTON LTD., the issue of discuss here, it would come to know its various existing competitors in the new market and their policies and how to deal with them to sustain there. The above steps have discussed all the major aspects of the company. Below discussed are the 12

general aspects that are required while implementing any plan. Company is concerned with various issues. To understand the situations of market, to analyze the circumstances and competition, company has to make several strategies and also it needs to do study o various aspects also. The competition prevailing in the market shows the sustainability of any product (Mishra, 2009). If the company wishes to expand its directions, it is required for the company to focus on various feasibility aspects likewise financial, resource and market feasibility. The case has discussed the market condition which shows the sustainability in the competitive market. Furthermore, it has also discussed how to deal with the competitors and how to evaluate the importance of their policies (Kerzner, n.d). Then the company feels for the marketing and selling conditions with the motive of profit ascertainment. How can company increase their sales and with include reducing margin percentage with the exiting culture. As the company able to adding more space for its warehouse, the company will be able to store more inventories thus the company can full filled the requirements of the customers and make more connectivity with new customers also. This way of working company attract new customers and expand its business product. It will also help the company in its brand building and by introducing new product line the company will get a perimeter above its competitors ( Lewis and Slack, 2003).Profit achievement is the main aim of every company. In order to get more and more profit company sells its products in the market and sometimes company brings a range of products to customers. This will help the company to mark more products in the existing product line. The demand of any product is affected by the changing habits of the customers. As the company is increasing more products in its existing product line, it requires huge space to store the products in warehouse. This helps the company to make the goods available to the customers so that the company can attract and retain the customers. The company can expand its operations by providing different range of products and also it can develop the brand image of the company. This gives a tough competition to other marketers (RS Pressman and associates, 2005). It is more important for the company to be well aware about different acts applicable and various government rules and issues like tax payment, various policies like commercial, fiscal and the monetary policy etc( Brophy, 2002).Organization deals with various issues related to government likewise fiscal policies, monetary policies and various commercial policies. The

13

project manager must have the knowledge how to implement these policies in related issues (Brophy, 2002). The complete management of a company is totally depends on overlook and performance by the authority member or a manager, Overall his responsibility to consider the various issues and mange them effectively as soon as smooth, legal and marking performance and the growth of a company( Brophy, 2002).To manage all the tasks of the organization, manager is only responsible to manage various issues as effectively as these increases the growth opportunities of the company (Brophy, 2002). When the company successfully complete any project it is necessary that project manager is capable of integrating all the resources well and perfect on the time. It is very important in the company that project manager must develop a foolproof plan for WASTON LTD. so that the manager and company had ideas of all the programme involved while expanding the business. The essential requirement in completing any project is that, the manager must have the capability to manage all the resources efficiently. So that the project can be started with well furnished ideas and while implementing all the ideas in the project, resources can be allocated to them according to the requirements. The manager and the company can put all these ideas at the time when company wishes to expand its operations in different areas. Secondly thing is that the project manager must be schedule all the activities in proper sequence or a format with motion duration so that no activity overlaps with another activity and the project manager is able to complete the preceding activity before initiating next activity. For example in this case first the project manager should take all the required approval and then should start working on next activities ( Bakliwal. 2011). Before initiating any work, it is required to make proper schedule of all the activities and all the activities must be managed by the manager in a sequencing order. To start a new activity, it is first compulsory to finish the ongoing activity so that it avoids coincide. An example can be taken from this case as it shows that the project manager identifies all the activities which start after finishing the first task (Bakliwal.2011). Another parameter for the project manager should work on a cost management. Because it is very important for the manager to discuss the budget with the company management so that he can employ his resources accordingly. And then project manager completes requirement of the WASTON LTD. so that the manager is able to finish the work in available budget and 14

time.Resources are very scare in nature. To avoid the wastage of resources and to use them in a optimum way it is required for the manager to pay attention toward the budget limit. Company always allots budget for each project, and it is the keen responsibility of the manager to complete the project in the given budget. The case shows an example that the manger of Waston Ltd. Has discussed all the activities with the management so that they can allot the resources and time to each activity. Quality is also a parameter which must be followed by the project manager. The manager always be aware to plan quality standards according to the cost and must be able to maintain the quality standards ( Brophy, 2002).Proper planning must be there while allocating cost to each activity. When it comes to quality, first priority is always given to cost. Project manager must take care about the standards and quality (Brophy, 2002). Another quality the project manager must hold is the risk management. Because risk management also an important for a manager to properly manage the risk so that the project is not affected or get delayed by them. For example in the present case they may be the supplier will not be able to supply material on the time then the manager has rights with some alternatives so that the entire project does not get any suffer from any internal problem. The project manager must have the quality to deal with the risk factor. To minimize the risk element in any project, it is the responsibility of the project manager to manage the risk in a proper way so that the project does not get affected by the risk. An example can be taken from the case. The project manager has faced a problem in supply but he must be ready with another alternative so that the whole project does not get delayed. In any organization or a company the biggest role counts as a Project manager. Because the project manager manages all the staffing and developing an effective team so that he can completes there projects on the time (Rastogi. 2010). In every organization, the project manager must have the quality to recruit best candidate among alternatives so as to make best staff. This helps in completing the task within the time period (Rastogi. 2010). Organizational Awareness: In the company the project manager to be well aware about the requirements and needs of the organization. All this knowledge will in getting results by understanding, building and using formal and informal system and structures to reach to the outcomes, i.e. the way of to achieve objectives of the organization. As a company which is deals in auto parts, so the manager must have more knowledge about its competitors and its market so 15

that he can plan or a manage strategy accordingly ( Brophy, 2004).

The case is about a

company that deals in auto parts. Organizational awareness helps the managers to get the information about the needs and requirements. To achieve the goals of the organization, managers must make formal and informal structures so as to get all the required aspects with regards to achievement of the goals. The terms of the market is more competitive now a days and as the manager is from the same field can ensure the organization to make the plans accordingly (Brophy, 2004). Leadership: The project manger should handle and manage all the staff associated with the project. As a leader, the project manager should be able to motivate and lead the workers to full fill the goals and objectives. By the manager this skill will help in attracting and mobilizing the energies and talents. The project manger will be making them work towards the best interests of the organization. Manager help in increasing the moral of employees to better perform in a particular task. In some cases it is very important for the manager to show leadership skills so that he can motivate to the staff and properly communicate the plans to the staff ( Brophy, 2005). The manager must have leadership quality in himself so as to motivate the employees to work according to the directions framed by the company. In order to achieve the targets efficiently, it is the duty of the manager to allot the right job to the right person. It helps in increasing the overall efficiency of employees and organization. It is very necessary to increase the morale of the employees so that the company can retain the efficient employees. The respective case shows the responsibility of manager in various departments so here he must have attained appropriate skills in leading the team (Brophy, 2005). Interpersonal Relations and Communication: It is very important term in any organization for the manager has very good relationship with each and every person who is working with him. Manager has Effective communication skills which are helps them to develop respect, mutual understanding and productive working relationships ( Brophy, 2008). Communication helps the manager to work like a team and also it helps the managers to maintain good relations with the employees. Better communication reduces the chances of misunderstanding, conflicts whereas it develops respect for each other. Manager can properly delegate the duties to his subordinates and can have control on their performance. In order to achieve the goals of the organization, managers must have the information about the interests of the employees (Brophy, 2008).

16

Domain specific and IT knowledge: In the company project manager has a strong knowledge of the project management concepts and theories. Then he takes an action planning, monitoring and controlling. The responsibility of a project manager never end with the implementation of a project but it extends further to proper monitoring and controlling of the project .The project manager should also make sure the timely completion of the project, it is completed within the allotted budgets and to maintain the high standards of the quality material, control risk and mainly to ensure the service quality and product gaining. In this type of condition the manager having IT knowledge helps in designing the warehouse in more efficient manner in the time and cost (Brophy, 2007). Project manager must have the calibre and capacity to deal with various HR functions. He must have appropriate knowledge about the management aspects and about the various theories and practices of HR. It is the basic responsibility of HR manager to monitor all the operations and to control the project till the project completes. Manager is concerned to deal with various issues in the organization. Dealing must be in a proper way as it increases the efficiency. In order to maintain the standards and quality, the project manager should use the resources in an optimum way so that it avoids wastage. Time is like a constraint. Every project must be completed within the time period given. As the manager in the case has knowledge in IT department, he can make use of that knowledge to design the structure of the warehouse. This thereby reduces the extra cost (Brophy, 2007). CONCLUSION From the above discussion, it is totally about the company which has been clearly and well floored with the establishment and suitable basics having the principle issues and policies noticed. The different features regarding the physical establishment, locality, design, and structure, and critical path analysis is also using for helps to plan all the tasks that must be completed. This is basic preparation of schedule and resource planning. All are human resource implications have been restricted in the report. All are requirements and their implications, legal issues, environmental issues, risk factors are showing in safe parameters and secured for further use. It can be concluded from the above case study that the well floored and well established company has various principles and policies that can be adapted in handling various issues. The case shows the link with the human resource department. Various aspects regarding the companys infrastructure along with design, structure and presence in the particular area has been described in the case. Furthermore, the case has also covered the need and requirements of 17
