Wine Tasting Evenings at Franque

ART AND AN ARTIST WINE & A SOMMELIER An artist discussed an artwork, the sommelier carefully matches wines to the work, creating an evocative cultural and viticultural experience. This is a first in Australia and offers the ultimate recipe - one part wine, one part art, one part story telling and a dash of education

THE FRENCH RESISTANCE (The underground wines) Off the map, out of the spotlight, undiscovered French wines. Setting aside the French celebrity wines and their matching price tags for a moment, sommelier Peter Healy will head in a different direction, tasting relatively unknown French wines. On the wrong side of the road, on the other side of the hill but as enthralling all the same, he says. It is an evening to step outside your French wine comfort zone and into a whole new level of French wine appreciation.

THE ITALIAN JOB 0Hang on lads, Ive got a great idea drinking Italian gems Italy produces more grapes than most countries, more vino della casa than any other country and grapes that most of us cannot pronounce garganega, ribolla gialla, nuragus... Peter Healys mission has always been to take the mystery out of wine. The Italian Job will take you on a journey through this great country with a line up of great Italian wines. THE FOOD & WINE MINEFIELD Food and wine matching is a forte of Peters; his uncanny ability to hunt down the perfect wine or cocktail to complement a dish; scallops matched with Finot sherry and a squeeze of lemon ("the idea is that you are squeezing the lemon into the drink instead of the scallop"); Beaujolais matched with Wagyu skirt steak... The evening will see four courses matched with wines as Peter Healy plays mythbuster when it comes to food and wine matching. TAKE ME NOW OR LEAVE ME FOR LATER Drink now wines versus ones that need time in your cellarHow do you make the call? Peter explores the secrets of cellaring, and explains why gold medals, trophies and wine reviews are so meaningless when it comes to tracking a wine in your cellar. In this session, guests are encouraged to bring along a curio from their wine cellar and Peter will advise on its life expectancy.

PETER HEALY SOMMELIER Trained in France, Peter is considered Australias leading food and wine matching specialist. Recently at Marque Restaurant, Sydney and Appellation in the Barossa Valley, Peter is in high demand for his public speaking and masterclasses. He is also renowned for his passion and tenacity in tracking down exceptional wines that perfectly match the occasion.
