Potential issues with existing installs of MKS Toolkit There are potential issues with installing DataStage Server on Windows systems that already have an install of MKS Toolkit, in particular the Developer Editions. The advice from MKS is to uninstall MKS before attempting to install DataStage Server. Note that the DataStage Server install will terminate if MKS incompatabilities are encountered. Please refer to the Extended Edition for Windows Guide for further information. 2. Servers and clients must be upgraded to 7.5x2 DataStage 7.5x2 is not compatible with any other DataStage release. All servers and clients must be upgraded. Clients must not be used with other versions of DataStage. 3. Windows NT no longer supported This release of DataStage is not supported on Windows NT. The minimum requirement is now Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 (for clients) and Windows 2003 Server (for server/parallel). 4. Parallel Jobs must be re-compiled after upgrade If you are installing DataStage Enterprise Edition (previously DataStage XE Parallel Extender), some parallel jobs must be re-compiled after the upgrade is complete. Due to changes in the DataStage Enterprise Edition, all parallel jobs which use a Transformer must be re-compiled after the upgrade is complete. Compilation must be done from a DataStage client. A new feature exists in this release to aid in multi-job compilation: the Batch Job Compilation Wizard, from the "Tools -> Run Multiple Job Compile Tool" menu option. This wizard allows batch compilation of DataStage jobs. There is also a command-line (client-side) interface. See the Compiler Wizard section of the DataStage Designer Guide for additional information. 5. Job Parameters as Parallel Extender Lookup Key Definitions At previous releases in Parallel Extender jobs, it was possible to type in a Job Parameter name as the value of the 'Key' property of a Lookup stage input link. This will no longer be supported. With the new Parallel Extender Lookup GUI, the key columns are defined through the column metadata grids, and therefore cannot be specified as Job Parameters. Any existing job that uses Job Parameters in this way will be modified during the installation upgrade. In the Job design, the Job Parameter value will be replaced by a newly created column of the same name. This Job design will then have to be modified in order for it to run correctly. 6. Upgrading from 7.0.1/7.1 to 7.5x2 with XMLPACK installed If you are upgrading from 7.0.1/7.1 to 7.5x2 and have XMLPACK installed, you mus t first uninstall the XMLPACK client. To remove the XMLPACK Client go to the Windows Control Panel, choose "Add or Remove Programs", select "DataStage XML

PACK" and click "Remove". 7. Valid network connection is required during DS installation When installing DataStage Server on Windows you must have a valid network connection when attached to a domain. If your primary domain controller (PDC) cannot be found across the network, causes setup to fail when licensing DS Engine. If you do experience problems, you should install the product using a local Admin on the machine, or be sure you are connected to the network. Workgroup users are not affected.
