1 (a) Fig. 1A shows a section of plate boundaries on the earth’s crust.

(ii) Describe how the volcano shown in Fig. 1A has been formed. [4]

(iii) When a volcano erupts, the people living near it may lose their homes and
belongings. With named examples, explain why people still continue to
live near volcanoes. [6]

global temperatures.

Describe the effects caused by rising global temperatures and evaluate


how badly they will affect people and the environment. [8]

3 (a) Fig. 3A shows the wind system affecting a part of the world in July.

pressure over Australia in July. Explain why this is so. [3]

(ii) From Fig. 3A, state the name of the monsoon wind that blows over India
and explain its formation. [4]

(iii) India experiences two different kinds of weather between June and
September and between October and January. From your answer in
(b)(ii), describe and explain the difference in weather. [5]

(b) Fig. 3B shows the drainage basin of River Glugg

floods. [8]
