The District Attorneys Office with the cooperation of the Federal Communications Commission's investigation found that Seon Bruce was acting as a deejay for 104.7 FM. During the investigation detectives bought air-time from Bruce to run a commercial on the pirate radio station. On April 18, 2013, a FCC engineer tracked the radio's signal to an antenna on the rooftop of a 50-story building located at 30 Broad Street in downtown Manhattan and later seized the transmitting equipments. Solomon Malka admitted that he was aware that his radio station was not licensed. Authorities also seized another transmitter belonging to Solomon from the elevator room on the roof of an apartment building at 611-615 East 76th Street in Brooklyn on June 14, 2013.
By Kim Blair, Street Hype Reporter wo Brooklyn-based radio operators and owners were recently arrested and charged with allegedly running pirate radio stations. Kings County District Attorney, Charles J. Hynes said in a statement that the two men, Seon Bruce age 40 and Solomon Malka age 51, were charged with Unauthorized Radio Transmission, a class-A misdemeanor on June 27, 2013.

If convicted, each face up to a year in jail. A person is charged with Unauthorized Radio Transmission when he/she knowingly makes a radio transmission on a radio frequency assigned and licensed by the FCC for use by AM and FM radio stations without authorization or having first obtained a license from the FCC. With a radio broadcast license in New York now costing millions of dollars, several licensed station owners argued that the pirate radio stations were affecting their advertising revenue. As a result, New York has seen more FCC enforcement against pirate operations than any other state, with some 330 official actions including citations, fines and shutdowns logged against pirate radio stations since 2003.

e are shocked and outraged that George Zimmerman was found not guilty for the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin on the night of February 26, 2012, in Sanford, Florida. Zimmerman, a 29-year-old Hispanic American, was on neighborhood watch for the gated community where Trayvon was staying temporarily when he shot and killed the 17-year-old African American high school student. According to Zimmerman, he shot Martin in self-defense after he was attacked by the unarmed teenager. The Sanford Police Department detained and questioned Zimmerman for approximately five hours after the shooting and later released him stating they found no evidence to contradict his claim of selfdefense.

that RaMarley attacked them with a gun. The department was forced to come clean after surveillance cameras captured the incident. A Bronx Supreme Court judge later threw out the indictment of Richard Haste, the officer who shot and killed RaMarley on a technicality. Although a retrial is expected in this case, justice delayed is justice denied. In both cases it would appear that the American justice system has failed to address racial profiling and discriminatory practices of people like Zimmerman and Haste. We are joining the millions of Americans in condemning the not guilty verdict and call for the fixing of the justice system to protect innocent African Americans.

ith the assistance of my friends and colleagues, I have been working hard organizing the first annual youth employment and globalization conference to be held on February 7th and 8th, 2014 in Miami Florida. I decided to do this conference to research ways of improving unemployment among young people. With the efforts from academia and other corporations, we can start helping our future leaders to become employable. Recently, I read an article where Angela Merkel, the Chancellor of Germany stated that youth unemployment is the biggest crisis facing Europe and urged other governments to do more to copy the German system concentrating on apprenticeships and not simply on academic study to prevent the emergence of a "lost generation." Ms. Merkel in addressing the press said, "Youth unemployment is perhaps the most pressing problem facing Europe at the present time." and "We in Germany have learned a lot from successfully reducing unemployment by means of structural reform since reunification and we can now bring that experience to bear." Forbes magazine reported that youth unemployment had reached 16.2 % in the United States, and 24% in Europe. Looking at the Caribbean, the unemployment rate in Jamaica according to the local Gleaner is approximately 32-35%. As of 2009, the United Nations placed Martiniques youth unemployment rate at 61.2%. An appeal was made for students to submit their research papers. To date, no submissions have been received from anyone living in the USA, or the Caribbean and the most confirmed attendees are from the continent of Africa as per our Facebook event page.
Is it that only African youths want to be apart of this event? Although we cant solve an entire nations problem, we can do our part by helping the youth to help themselves. We need to reduce youth unemployment globally. info@nevalliance.com www.nevalliance.com

proposal to allow more women to the United States under a comprehensive immigration bill is going to be introduced by a group of female senators. Accordingly, the female senators propose keeping 30,000 US residency cards in reserve for fields in which women hold most of the jobs, such as nannies, home healthcare workers and early childhood educators. The amendment has been signed by at least 12 women, including Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska). The Senate has a record contingent of 20 women this session, 16 of whom are Democrats. "For this immigration bill to institutionalize and set in concrete the unequal opportunities women have in other countries is not the way to go," Sen. Mazie Hirono (DHawaii), who developed the amendment with Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.), said. Female senators are said to have influenced other highprofile policy debates, including the Violence Against Women Act, in which the four female Republicans joined Democrats in voting to reauthorize the law.

Two more gold medals for Jamaica on final day of World Youth Champs
Jamaica ended the 2013 World Youth Championships in Donetsk, Ukraine in a blaze of glory on Sunday, securing two more gold medals to finish with six gold and two bronze, a total of eight medals. This is one medal less than the nine achieved by Jamaica in 2007 and 2011 but it is the highest number of gold medals ever secured by a Jamaican youth team. Michael Ohara won the 200m in a world leading time of 20.63, easing his disappointment at not placing among the medalists in the 100m. The other Jamaican gold medal on Sunday came in the sprint medley relay.
GEORGETOWN, Guyana (CMC) West Indies registered a 37-run victory over Pakistan and levelled their five-match series 1-1 in the second ODI at the Providence Stadium on Tuesday. Spinner Sunil Narine pulled the match around for West Indies in the late afternoon, grabbing four wickets for 26 that steered them to victory. He was also named man-of-the-match. Chasing 233 for victory, after West Indies posted 232 for eight off their 50 overs, Pakistan were restricted to 195 as the hometeam won with 13 balls to spare. Pakistan were unable to produce the acceleration they showed in the first match, when they defeated West Indies by 126 runs at the same venue, as the West Indies combined pace and spin attack kept them in check. They owed their total to a dogged but chancy 54, off 94 balls, from opener Nasir Jamshed, who benefited from four chances before he was fifth out off the bowling of Pollard.
S sprinter Tyson Gay, Jamaica's former 100m world record holder Asafa Powell and Sherone Simpson, Jamaican Beijing Olympic 100 metres silver medallist have failed drug tests. Gay, 30, the joint-second fastest man over 100m, was notified by the US AntiDoping Agency on Friday that his A sample from an out-of-competition test in May had returned a positive. The management company for Powell confirmed he had tested positive for a banned substance. Another Jamaican sprinter, Sherone Simpson, has also failed a drug test. The Olympic 4x100m relay silver medallist said on Sunday she had tested positive for a stimulant at last month's national championships. Powell and Simpson's doping positives come a month after Jamaican Olympic champion Veronica Campbell-Brown tested positive for a banned diuretic. The 30-year-old Powell was the last man to hold the individual 100m record before compatriot Usain Bolt broke it in 2008. He is still the fourth fastest man of all time. Powell later helped Jamaica to win 400m relay gold at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Gay, the fastest man in 2013, is waiting for the results of his 'B' sample. He has already withdrawn from next month's World Championships in Moscow. "I don't have a sabotage story... I basically put my trust in someone and was let down," he said. "I know exactly what went on, but I can't discuss it right now. "I hope I am able to run again, but I will take whatever punishment I get like a man."

roovin recorded by The Young Rascals in 1967 depicts a couple in love. Their performance was first class. Their latest recording of Hoodies On in recognition of the brutal slaying of Trayvon Martin closed their sterling performance with a nonhyped effect. The five-star of the show was the exquisite diva herself Patricia Louise Holte-Edwards a.k.a. Patti Labelle Grammy Award winner, singer, author and actress. Dressed in a classy baby blue suit, Labelle lit up the stage with beauty and style. The 69-year old recording artist 50-year run in the music biz had the audience fixated to her Dramatic soprano and explosive voice. The woman with an attitude gave us hits under the musical direction of New York-based John Stanley. Ms. Labelles interaction with the audience was hilarious and entertaining. She commandeered a star search for three male vocalists from the audience to do their thang which as it turned out the volunteers could not sing to save their lives. But, like a puppeteer, they popped to the beat. Her inclusion of a gospel segment was spirited and uplifting. Her back-up trios musical abilities plunged us into a vision of a thousand voices. Her final rendition of Somewhere Over The Rainbow had the crowd wanting more but after an hour-and-a-half long performance we had to let her go. The Diva was superb! The final acts were famed R&B trio TGTTyrese, Ginuwine and Tank. Avid fans were not disappointed especially the female audience. Tanks smooth rendition of Aint No City Like My City had them rearing to go. The performer had the audience fixed on him as his slender fingers splayed across the keyboard to his signature song I Can Make You Love Me. In a nutshell the 2nd staging of Groovin In The Park 2013 was a great show. Chris Roberts, CEO and his team of organizers had high expectations for the event. The reflection in diversity, culture and music was a rewarding experience. The intermittent kinks were duly noted but did not negatively impact nor shrouded the event. I am confident the unmentionables will be addressed and quick action taken for the 3rd staging.

Every day I wake up, I thank God that I chose to be an orthodontist. The profession allows me to meet and interact with unique and different people every day. Im a peoples person. People come to see me because they want a better smile, and I take great pride in delivering the smiles they want and deserve. For a number of patients, this is a life changing experience! It feels good to see patients, who started out shy because of their crooked teeth, leave my office after treatment with perfectly straight teeth, now confident and outgoing, Dr Craig Smith. Education and Continuing Education Dr Smith attained his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry at Trinity College in Hartford, CT. He then graduated from Tufts School of Dental Medicine in 2001 with his DMD. In 2004 he received his Certificate in Orthodontics, also from Tufts University Dental School. In between dental school and orthodontic school, he did a general practice residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Although his formal education is complete, Dr. Smith attends several continuing education workshops every year. He also attends a great deal of Invisalign lectures. These courses and seminars help him to keep up with the latest technologies and procedures, which benefit his patients. Dr Smith has been practicing in the North Bronx since 2005 at Optimum Dental Care. He also maintains a private practice in Smithtown, Long Island. Over the past 8 years Dr Smith have treated hundreds of patients in the North Bronx and is known to be a very professional and compassionate person, who treats his patients with dignity and respect. Becoming Board Certified To become board certified, an orthodontist has to have passed a rigorous set of written and clinical examinations, as well as a comprehensive review of their credentials. The initial process of becoming board certified can take anywhere from five to ten years. Once certified, the orthodontist must become recertified every ten years to maintain board certified status.

What does it mean to be board certified? A board certified orthodontist, also known as a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, has been voluntarily examined by his/her peers according to knowledge and clinical skills. Becoming board certified signifies the orthodontist's pursuit of continued proficiency and excellence in orthodontics. What is orthodontics and how important are braces to a childs development. Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that specializes in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of dental and facial irregularities. Braces are appliances or devices used to make these corrections. Braces use steady, gentle pressure over time to move teeth into their proper
Benefits of early treatment 1. guide incoming teeth into optimal positions 2. regulate the width of the jaws 3. lower the risk of trauma to prominent front teeth 4. correct harmful sucking habits 5. reduce the likelihood of teeth becoming stuck or impacted under the gums 6. preserve or gain space for arriving permanent teeth 7. guide the growth of the young jaw bones creating a better environment for those new emerging permanent teeth. Early intervention by an orthodontist can prevent more complicated dental treatment in later years. By allowing children the opportunity to have a great and beautiful smile can affect their future in a positive way. Children are very concerned about their appearance and it is an acceptable rite of passage to get braces in order to have a great smile. In some communities having braces is a status symbol indicating intelligence and wealth. Age is not a factor for getting braces, if the bone and gum tissue around the teeth are healthy anybody can have orthodontic treatment. More and more adults are seeking orthodontic treatment, currently 20 % of all orthodontic patients are adults.

o you think that beauty is only important for women? Not in today's world. More and more men have discovered the benefits of maintaining a healthy and attractive appearance. 1. If your hair grows in a weird way or is of different colors, try to keep your facial hair by keeping a clean-shaven face. 2. Do not be afraid to use concealer to hide imperfections on your face. 3. Start using a moisturiser daily to maintain healthy skin. Both men and women have wrinkles, so there is no reason not to take care of aging skin. 4. Begin to use facial cleansers for your face

getting enough rest, so get a full 8 hours of sleep for fresh air and light in the morning. 6. When you are exposed to the sun, wear sunglasses. 7. If you are daring, you can wear a subtle oilfree foundation or translucent powder to correct the excess oil on your face. 8. When you shave your face, use a razor with a moisturising strip so that you are less likely to have irritated skin when you are finished. 9. Dear Divine Diva: 'm dating a 16-year-old girl who was seriously physically abused in the past. She and her mom had to move away for a while, but have now been told by Department of Children and Family Services that it's safe for them to move back with her father, who abused her. After seeing what goes on in this house and hearing her describe how they treat her, I think the physical abuse has changed to mental and emotional abuse. I'm not sure what to do because I'm 18 and it's "illegal" that we are dating. It scares me that they can use anything against me. -What To Do?
Dear Divine Diva: 'm 18 years old. I play two competitive sports, maintain a 4.0 GPA, have good friends and will be attending the college of my dreams. Yet for some reason I cannot get along with my parents. It seems like I can't live up to their standards. We get into huge fights every day over insignificant things. My parents continually tell me they don't think I will handle college very well because I "can't get along with people." But their lack of faith just frustrates me and we get into more fights. In reality, the only people I don't get along with are my parents. This is unsettling to me because next fall I will be across the country from them and I feel they will be happy that I'm gone. I'm at a
loss as to what to do to control my temper and fix my relationship with my parents before I leave. Your advice would be appreciated. -Karen From The Bronx Dear Karen: It's possible that your parents may be suffering from separation anxiety. You, their child, are about to leave the nest, and they may be dealing with conflicting feelings of pride in your accomplishments and sadness that you are about to fly from the nest. It may not be a lack of faith in you. Also, they may be having second thoughts about how they can afford the tuition and other college expenses beyond possible financial aid. Sit and talk to your parents youll be glad did. -Always, Divine Diva

LIBRA (Sept. 23 Oct.22): There's no reason to be hesitant or shy if you made an error in judgment; just admit to it and move on. Act maturely and take responsibility for your words and actions, since they aren't as problematic as you think. The sooner you can look forward, instead of worrying about the past, the better it will be for everyone involved. SCORPIO (Oct. 23 Nov. 21): Sharing your deep concerns is not a wise idea, especially if there isn't anyone around that you sufficiently trust with your thoughts. However, you like the idea of being in safe harbor, even if you find yourself pulled toward someone else's perspective. SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22 Dec.21): If you have set your sights too high, you may become discouraged when you don't reach your goals. It's helpful to cut yourself a bit of slack and allow time for your plans to develop. But you might have a hard time learning the lesson of patience now. CAPRICORN (Dec. 22 Jan. 19): It might seem as if you don't have as many options as you want or that others are attempting to get in your way. Consider what you may have done to help set a restraining backlash in motion. Fighting against an external enemy, real or imagined is likely a waste of your time. AQUARIUS (Jan. 20 Feb. 18): You cannot tell if your current assessment of someone is valid or if you're basing it on assumptions that are built upon your desires. Thankfully, you can still jump-start yourself into motion. Your flexibility helps to alleviate the growing relationship tension, but don't diffuse the uncomfortable energy too quickly. PISCES (Feb. 19 Mar. 20): You might feel as if subtle forces are coercing you to act on your heart's inclinations, rather than doing what makes the most sense. You can understand the consequences of your actions, but logic doesn't alter your passions. Ironically, satisfying other people's expectations won't bring you happiness now. It's time to follow your bliss.

ARIES (Mar. 21 Apr. 19): You're not very excited about doing your chores now or even considering strategies to get a job done. Even if you can't take the whole day off, at least give yourself permission to relax and fall a bit behind in your production schedule. As long as you keep your priorities straight, you'll be able to catch up next week. TAURUS (Apr. 20 May 20): Avoid the temptation to weave stories, even if you are able to express yourself skillfully and entertain others. Keep things simple and stick with only what you know to be absolutely true. Avoid extra stress by choosing facts over fiction. GEMINI (May 21 Jun. 20): Everyone seems to be relying on you for your stability but this is not one of your typical strengths. You probably can anchor a loved one now and prevent him or her from drifting away in an emotional storm. Instead of wasting your energy wondering how to help, just jump in and do what you can. Others will appreciate your support. CANCER (Jun. 21 Jul. 22): Your reactions can be strong and swift now, making you afraid to share your desires with most people because you're worried that you might scare them away. Nevertheless, total inaction leads to even more problems, so don't go quiet and just pretend that everything is fine. Share your current concerns with a trusted friend. LEO (Jul. 23 Aug. 22): It can be quite difficult to separate what's good from what's not when it comes to relationships. Creating fantasies about what you want is easier than actually doing something about it. It may be healthy to have a few secrets now because there are some things that are better off left unsaid until the time is right. VIRGO (Aug. 23 Sept. 22): Your intentions are honorable since you truly want to do the right thing. But even a simple plan grows entangled with other ones, making everything more complicated. Your impromptu actions may even be misinterpreted by someone who should know better.

he Health Department released a new report today showing younger adults who frequently use headphones at high volume report more hearing problems than those who use them less frequently and/or at lower volume. Nearly one out of four adults aged 18 to 44 who report heavy headphone use say they have hearing problems, and were more than twice as likely to report hearing problems than those who report light-tomoderate use or no use of headphones. Prolonged exposure to loud sounds can cause irreversible damage to the inner ear, resulting in hearing loss, tinnitus (ringing in the ear) or both. Though hearing loss is preventable, more and more people are having trouble hearing, said Health Commissioner Dr. Thomas Farley. With more people regularly using headphones, the message is loud and clear New Yorkers need to turn down the volume to protect their ears.

Prolonged exposure to loud sounds can cause irreversible damage to the inner ear, resulting in tinnitus, hearing loss,or both.
The new report, Hearing Problems and Headphone Use in New York City, is based on data collected from the 2011 New York City Community Health Survey. Younger adults aged 18 to 44 are nearly three times more likely than adults
45 and older to listen to music with headphones. Although adults aged 45 and older report more hearing problems, younger adults who frequently listen to headphones at high volume report a similar rate of hearing problems. More than onethird (36%) of younger adults who report listening to music with headphones listen every day. Of the younger adults who listen every day, 16% report listening at more than half the maximum volume for four or more hours. Hearing loss is preventable. To protect your hearing when using headphones: Reduce the volume, limit listening time, take regular breaks and never listen at maximum volume. Know the early signs of hearing loss and ask a doctor for a hearing test if you have trouble hearing conversation, need to turn up the volumes on TV, radio or personal music players or experience ringing in the ear. For more information, search Noise & Hearing Health at nyc.gov.
According to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), nearly 1 in every 10 children/adolescents in the USA has elevated total cholesterol levels; and this was after concentrations had dropped over a 20-year period.

The most important thing you can do is learn from your mistakes--and never make the same mistake twice.
Say it in 30 seconds or don't say it at all. From a chance encounter with an investor to a curious customer, always be ready to pitch your business. State your mission, service and goals in a clear and concise manner. Fit the pitch to the person. Less is always more. Know what you know, what you don't know and who knows what you don't. No one knows everything, so don't come off as a know-it-all. Surround yourself with advisors and mentors who will nurture you to become a better leader and businessman. Find successful, knowledgeable individuals with whom you share common interests and mutual business goals that see value in working with you for the long-term. Act like a startup. Forget about fancy offices, fast cars and fat expense accounts. Your wallet is your company's life-blood. Practice and perfect the art of being frugal. Watch every dollar and triple-check every expense. Maintain a low overhead and manage your cash flow effectively. Learn under fire. No business book or business plan can predict the future or fully prepare you to become a successful entrepreneur. There is no such thing as the perfect plan. There is no perfect road or one less traveled. Never jump right into a new business without any thought or planning, but don't spend months or years waiting to execute. You will become a wellrounded entrepreneur when tested under fire.
No one will give you money. There, I said it. No one will invest in you. If you need large sums of capital to launch your venture, go back to the drawing board. Find a starting point instead of an end point. Scale down pricey plans and grandiose expenditures. Simplify the idea until it's manageable as an early stage venture. Find ways to prove your business model on a shoestring budget. Demonstrate your worth before seeking investment. If your concept is successful, your chances of raising capital from investors will dramatically improve. Be healthy. No, I'm not your mother. However, I promise that you will be much more productive when you take better care of yourself. Entrepreneurship is a lifestyle, not a 9-to-5 profession. Working to the point of exhaustion will burn you out and make you less productive. Don't make excuses. Eat right, exercise and find time for yourself. Don't fall victim to your own B.S. Don't talk the talk unless you can walk the walk. Impress with action not conversation. Endorse your business enthusiastically, yet tastefully. Avoid exaggerating truths and touting far reaching goals as certainties. In short, put up or shut up. Know when to call it quits. Contrary to popular belief, a smart captain does not go down with the ship. Don't go on a fool's errand for the sake of ego. Know when it's time to walk away. If your idea doesn't pan out, reflect on what went wrong and the mistakes that were made. Assess what you would have done differently. Determine how you will utilize these hardlearned lessons to better yourself and your future entrepreneurial endeavors. Failure is inevitable, but a true entrepreneur will prevail over adversity.
