The District Attorneys Office with the cooperation of the Federal Communications Commission's investigation found that Seon Bruce was acting as a deejay for 104.7 FM. During the investigation detectives bought air-time from Bruce to run a commercial on the pirate radio station. On April 18, 2013, a FCC engineer tracked the radio's signal to an antenna on the rooftop of a 50-story building located at 30 Broad Street in downtown Manhattan and later seized the transmitting equipments. Solomon Malka admitted that he was aware that his radio station was not licensed. Authorities also seized another transmitter belonging to Solomon from the elevator room on the roof of an apartment building at 611-615 East 76th Street in Brooklyn on June 14, 2013.

Kings County District Attorney, Charles J. Hynes said in a statement that the two men, Seon Bruce age 40 and Solomon Malka age 51, were charged with Unauthorized Radio Transmission, a class-A misdemeanor on June 27, 2013.

If convicted, each face up to a year in jail. A person is charged with Unauthorized Radio Transmission when he/she knowingly makes a radio transmission on a radio frequency assigned and licensed by the FCC for use by AM and FM radio stations without authorization or having first obtained a license from the FCC. With a radio broadcast license in New York now costing millions of dollars, several licensed station owners argued that the pirate radio stations were affecting their advertising revenue. As a result, New York has seen more FCC enforcement against pirate operations than any other state, with some 330 official actions including citations, fines and shutdowns logged against pirate radio stations since 2003.

e are shocked and outraged that George Zimmerman was found not guilty for the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin on the night of February 26, 2012, in Sanford, Florida. Zimmerman, a 29-year-old Hispanic American, was on neighborhood watch for the gated community where Trayvon was staying temporarily when he shot and killed the 17-year-old African American high school student. According to Zimmerman, he shot Martin in self-defense after he was attacked by the unarmed teenager. The Sanford Police Department detained and questioned Zimmerman for approximately five hours after the shooting and later released him stating they found no evidence to contradict his claim of selfdefense.
A justice system to protect African Americans

It took several days of national and international outcry and condemnation before Floridas authority decided to charge Zimmerman for second-degree murder and manslaughter in the death of the teenager. However, from the very beginning, we were very critical of the judicial process as allegations of racist motivation surfaced about the shooter and the conduct of the police. The community at large want to trust the American justice system, but it would appear that the prosecutors did a very poor job convincing the jury that Zimmerman is among a growing list of murders who target young and innocent Black boys. The case of Bronxs teenager RaMarley Graham comes to mind. At first, the New York Police Department claimed

that RaMarley attacked them with a gun. The department was forced to come clean after surveillance cameras captured the incident. A Bronx Supreme Court judge later threw out the indictment of Richard Haste, the officer who shot and killed RaMarley on a technicality. Although a retrial is expected in this case, justice delayed is justice denied. In both cases it would appear that the American justice system has failed to address racial profiling and discriminatory practices of people like Zimmerman and Haste. We are joining the millions of Americans in condemning the not guilty verdict and call for the fixing of the justice system to protect innocent African Americans.

ith the assistance of my friends and colleagues, I have been working hard organizing the first annual youth employment and globalization conference to be held on February 7th and 8th, 2014 in Miami Florida. I decided to do this conference to research ways of improving unemployment among young people. With the efforts from academia and other corporations, we can start helping our future leaders to become employable. Recently, I read an article where Angela Merkel, the Chancellor of Germany stated that youth unemployment is the biggest crisis facing Europe and urged other governments to do more to copy the German system concentrating on apprenticeships and not simply on academic study to prevent the emergence of a "lost generation." Ms. Merkel in addressing the press said, "Youth unemployment is perhaps the most pressing problem facing Europe at the present time." and "We in Germany have learned a lot from successfully reducing unemployment by means of structural reform since reunification and we can now bring that experience to bear." Forbes magazine reported that youth unemployment had reached 16.2 % in the United States, and 24% in Europe. Looking at the Caribbean, the unemployment rate in Jamaica according to the local Gleaner is approximately 32-35%. As of 2009, the United Nations placed Martiniques youth unemployment rate at 61.2%. An appeal was made for students to submit their research papers. To date, no submissions have been received from anyone living in the USA, or the Caribbean and the most confirmed attendees are from the continent of Africa as per our Facebook event page.

Bronx Councilmember Andy King (1st l) along with members of the Bronx Community Solutions recently launch Operation Cleaner Streets within the 12th District, which seeks to revitalize our neighborhoods streets and walkways through community service. Residents reported suspicious and disruptive activities in places purported to be legitimate day spas and massage parlors.
However, some of them had explicit advertisements on craigslist.com and on backpage.com. The operation, which utilized physical surveillance, undercover detectives, and search warrants, revealed substantial evidence of prostitution, promoting prostitution, and other violations of the NYS Education and Workers Compensation Laws, as well as the New York City Health, Safety and Zoning regulations and laws.

KINGSTOWN, St Vincent (World Bank) -In St Vincent and the Grenadines, the national program to control HIV/AIDS implemented a comprehensive prevention, treatment, and care program to address the HIV/AIDS epidemic, led by the public sector with the participation of civil society. Between 2004 and 2010, the annual number of new HIV-positive cases declined by 41 percent from a baseline of 108 to 64. During the same period, the annual number of new AIDS cases declined by 38 percent from 40 cases to 25. Moreover, the total number of persons tested for HIV through the Voluntary Counseling and Testing program reached 8,927 in 2010, exceeding the projects target of 2,000.

n June 27 the bipartisan "Gang of Eight" immigration reform bill, which aims to provide a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants while strengthening the border, was passed at the final vote in the Senate. Senators passed the bipartisan bill known as "The Border Security, Economic Opportunity and Immigration Modernization Act of 2013", or S.744 by a vote of 68-32, setting an end to debate on the legislation. All 52 Democratic senators voted for the bill, along with 14 Republicans and two independents. Earlier this week, its amendments on border security were passed with the vote of 67-27, with 15 Republicans voting in favor. "Despite our continued concerns regarding the recent changes in the bill that will militarize the border and bring real harm to border communities, AILA is pleased that the Senate continues to move forward toward real immigration reform that will on balance benefit far more families and businesses than it will hurt," said newly installed American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) President Doug Stump, "This bill is far from perfect, but it does contain provisions that will boost our economy, make our country safer, and offer protections for the undocumented who currently live in the shadows. " "We are pleased that an immigration bill passed the Senate today with bipartisan support," said Steve Caldeira, president and chief executive of the International Franchise Association. "The [Act] works to address many of the current and future labor needs of our businesses while offering opportunity to improve upon the bill in some key areas, such as a better E-Verify program and strengthened w-visa language, in a conference committee."

proposal to allow more women to the United States under a comprehensive immigration bill is going to be introduced by a group of female senators. Accordingly, the female senators propose keeping 30,000 US residency cards in reserve for fields in which women hold most of the jobs, such as nannies, home healthcare workers and early childhood educators. The amendment has been signed by at least 12 women, including Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska). The Senate has a record contingent of 20 women this session, 16 of whom are Democrats. "For this immigration bill to institutionalize and set in concrete the unequal opportunities women have in other countries is not the way to go," Sen. Mazie Hirono (DHawaii), who developed the amendment with Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.), said. Female senators are said to have influenced other highprofile policy debates, including the Violence Against Women Act, in which the four female Republicans joined Democrats in voting to reauthorize the law.

Two more gold medals for Jamaica on final day of World Youth Champs
Jamaica ended the 2013 World Youth Championships in Donetsk, Ukraine in a blaze of glory on Sunday, securing two more gold medals to finish with six gold and two bronze, a total of eight medals. This is one medal less than the nine achieved by Jamaica in 2007 and 2011 but it is the highest number of gold medals ever secured by a Jamaican youth team. Michael Ohara won the 200m in a world leading time of 20.63, easing his disappointment at not placing among the medalists in the 100m. The other Jamaican gold medal on Sunday came in the sprint medley relay.
GEORGETOWN, Guyana (CMC) West Indies registered a 37-run victory over Pakistan and levelled their five-match series 1-1 in the second ODI at the Providence Stadium on Tuesday. Spinner Sunil Narine pulled the match around for West Indies in the late afternoon, grabbing four wickets for 26 that steered them to victory. He was also named man-of-the-match. Chasing 233 for victory, after West Indies posted 232 for eight off their 50 overs, Pakistan were restricted to 195 as the hometeam won with 13 balls to spare. Pakistan were unable to produce the acceleration they showed in the first match, when they defeated West Indies by 126 runs at the same venue, as the West Indies combined pace and spin attack kept them in check. They owed their total to a dogged but chancy 54, off 94 balls, from opener Nasir Jamshed, who benefited from four chances before he was fifth out off the bowling of Pollard.

S sprinter Tyson Gay, Jamaica's former 100m world record holder Asafa Powell and Sherone Simpson, Jamaican Beijing Olympic 100 metres silver medallist have failed drug tests. Gay, 30, the joint-second fastest man over 100m, was notified by the US AntiDoping Agency on Friday that his A sample from an out-of-competition test in May had returned a positive. The management company for Powell confirmed he had tested positive for a banned substance. Another Jamaican sprinter, Sherone Simpson, has also failed a drug test. The Olympic 4x100m relay silver medallist said on Sunday she had tested positive for a stimulant at last month's national championships. Powell and Simpson's doping positives come a month after Jamaican Olympic champion Veronica Campbell-Brown tested positive for a banned diuretic. The 30-year-old Powell was the last man to hold the individual 100m record before compatriot Usain Bolt broke it in 2008. He is still the fourth fastest man of all time. Powell later helped Jamaica to win 400m relay gold at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Gay, the fastest man in 2013, is waiting for the results of his 'B' sample. He has already withdrawn from next month's World Championships in Moscow. "I don't have a sabotage story... I basically put my trust in someone and was let down," he said. "I know exactly what went on, but I can't discuss it right now. "I hope I am able to run again, but I will take whatever punishment I get like a man."

Cuba gains but Haiti tops CFU in world ranking

KINGSTON, Jamaica (CFU) -Caribbean Football Union (CFU) teams Cuba and the Dominican Republic made significant gains to remain inside of the top 100 of the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking, according to the July edition. Cuba leaped nine places to 82nd in the world and eighth in the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF). The Dominican Republic also moved up four places to 90th in the world. But Haiti remains the top CFU nation in the rankings despite falling six places on the world ranking to 69th. But on June 30th enthusiastic patrons of all age group were in love with the 2nd staging of Groovin' In The Park on Sunday afternoon in Roy Wilkins Park, Queens. Buzzing with musical greats, the highlypromoted musical extravaganza had patrons groovin' despite intermittent showers. The colorful array of umbrellas and make-shift plastic rain coats did not deter the fans from enjoying the show. However the rain sparked an instant flashback to my childhood days walking barefooted with a plastic overcoatbut back to my review. The dynamic radio-duo-Richard Richie B Burgess and Ras Clem with their eclectic taste in music kept the flow of performances on cue with engaging dialogue and bouts of humor. Kudos guys! While I missed Half Pints opening act, the rumor mill was out he was great! Second in line and not to be outdone was the make-over man himself, Barrington Levy. Levys obvious self confidence as the self-proclaimed dancehall master dispelled all schisms as he delved into his slew of hits Living Dangerously, Prison Oval Rock, Black Roses,Broader Than Broadway, Too Experienced, My Woman and Dangerous. A crowd pleaser, his rock steady rendition of Struggler and impeccable timing with the band made his set simply electrifying. While the women were in chorus -Levy was on point. And speaking of being on point! Queen Ifrica the Fya Muma chanted her way to the stage with the song Babylon You Throne Gone Down in a summery black dress embellished with a picture of Bob Marley. Her fabulous female back up duo in toe she struck her hit Brown Skin and the crowd was groovy. From my vantage point, Queen Ifrica was irie. But the obvious response to Kevin Anthony Jackson a.k.a. Sanchez by the women sent a clear message that the right kind of touch was on ration. Sanchezs stream of hits Here I Am, Sometimes, This Little Girl and

But the Grammy Award winning Steel Pulse from the Handsworth area of Birmingham, England turned out to be the picture-perfect scenario of the Bull riding rodeo sport in which a rider tries to mount a large bull and attempts to stay mounted. In this case the bull turned out to be - the audience! The obvious lack-luster response from the crowd was a clear indication that the rich vocals and impressive collective repertoire did not impress the audience or they simply did not know their songs. The 50 minute-run started off with Rally Round The Track, Prodigal Son, Life Without Music, The Body Guard and a rhythmic chant to Summer Day. In Steel Pulses defense it is without a doubt that they have honed their right to global recognition.

Their performance was first class. Their latest recording of Hoodies On in recognition of the brutal slaying of Trayvon Martin closed their sterling performance with a nonhyped effect. The five-star of the show was the exquisite diva herself Patricia Louise Holte-Edwards a.k.a. Patti Labelle Grammy Award winner, singer, author and actress. Dressed in a classy baby blue suit, Labelle lit up the stage with beauty and style. The 69-year old recording artist 50-year run in the music biz had the audience fixated to her Dramatic soprano and explosive voice. The woman with an attitude gave us hits under the musical direction of New York-based John Stanley. Ms. Labelles interaction with the audience was hilarious and entertaining. She commandeered a star search for three male vocalists from the audience to do their thang which as it turned out the volunteers could not sing to save their lives. But, like a puppeteer, they popped to the beat. Her inclusion of a gospel segment was spirited and uplifting. Her back-up trios musical abilities plunged us into a vision of a thousand voices. Her final rendition of Somewhere Over The Rainbow had the crowd wanting more but after an hour-and-a-half long performance we had to let her go. The Diva was superb! The final acts were famed R&B trio TGTTyrese, Ginuwine and Tank. Avid fans were not disappointed especially the female audience. Tanks smooth rendition of Aint No City Like My City had them rearing to go. The performer had the audience fixed on him as his slender fingers splayed across the keyboard to his signature song I Can Make You Love Me. In a nutshell the 2nd staging of Groovin In The Park 2013 was a great show. Chris Roberts, CEO and his team of organizers had high expectations for the event. The reflection in diversity, culture and music was a rewarding experience. The intermittent kinks were duly noted but did not negatively impact nor shrouded the event. I am confident the unmentionables will be addressed and quick action taken for the 3rd staging.

Every day I wake up, I thank God that I chose to be an orthodontist. The profession allows me to meet and interact with unique and different people every day. Im a peoples person. Education and Continuing Education Dr Smith attained his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry at Trinity College in Hartford, CT. He then graduated from Tufts School of Dental Medicine in 2001 with his DMD. In 2004 he received his Certificate in Orthodontics, also from Tufts University Dental School. In between dental school and orthodontic school, he did a general practice residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Although his formal education is complete, Dr. Smith attends several continuing education workshops every year. He also attends a great deal of Invisalign lectures. These courses and seminars help him to keep up with the latest technologies and procedures, which benefit his patients. Becoming Board Certified To become board certified, an orthodontist has to have passed a rigorous set of written and clinical examinations, as well as a comprehensive review of their credentials. The initial process of becoming board certified can take anywhere from five to ten years. Once certified, the orthodontist must become recertified every ten years to maintain board certified status.

At each visit the orthodontist evaluates the teeth and bends the wire in a specific way to achieve the tooth movement that is desired. Rubber bands and elastics contribute a lot to straighter teeth. Attached to the braces, elastics exert the force that creates the right amount of pressure to move teeth in directions that the braces alone cannot. Signs that a child might need to see the orthodontist 1. early or late loss of baby teeth 2. difficulty chewing or biting 3. crowding, malpositioned, or blocked out teeth 4. jaws that shift or make sounds 5. biting the cheek or roof of the mouth 6. teeth that do not meet at all 7. jaws and teeth that are out of proportion to the rest of the face 8. finger sucking or pacifier habits continued beyond the age of six. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends an initial consultation no later than age 7. A child can see the orthodontist at an earlier age if any of the previously stated problems exist especially for finger sucking or tongue thrusting, these conditions can be treated by certain appliances that can be custom made for the child. Early treatment can eliminate the need for more drastic and complicated treatment in the future, including avoiding the need for corrective surgery in some cases.

he Health Department released a new report today showing younger adults who frequently use headphones at high volume report more hearing problems than those who use them less frequently and/or at lower volume. Nearly one out of four adults aged 18 to 44 who report heavy headphone use say they have hearing problems, and were more than twice as likely to report hearing problems than those who report light-tomoderate use or no use of headphones. Prolonged exposure to loud sounds can cause irreversible damage to the inner ear, resulting in hearing loss, tinnitus (ringing in the ear) or both. Though hearing loss is preventable, more and more people are having trouble hearing, said Health Commissioner Dr. Thomas Farley. With more people regularly using headphones, the message is loud and clear New Yorkers need to turn down the volume to protect their ears.

The new report, Hearing Problems and Headphone Use in New York City, is based on data collected from the 2011 New York City Community Health Survey. Younger adults aged 18 to 44 are nearly three times more likely than adults
45 and older to listen to music with headphones. Although adults aged 45 and older report more hearing problems, younger adults who frequently listen to headphones at high volume report a similar rate of hearing problems. More than onethird (36%) of younger adults who report listening to music with headphones listen every day. Of the younger adults who listen every day, 16% report listening at more than half the maximum volume for four or more hours. Hearing loss is preventable. To protect your hearing when using headphones: Reduce the volume, limit listening time, take regular breaks and never listen at maximum volume. Know the early signs of hearing loss and ask a doctor for a hearing test if you have trouble hearing conversation, need to turn up the volumes on TV, radio or personal music players or experience ringing in the ear. Find ways to prove your business model on a shoestring budget. Demonstrate your worth before seeking investment. If your concept is successful, your chances of raising capital from investors will dramatically improve. Be healthy. No, I'm not your mother. However, I promise that you will be much more productive when you take better care of yourself. Entrepreneurship is a lifestyle, not a 9-to-5 profession. Working to the point of exhaustion will burn you out and make you less productive. Don't make excuses. Eat right, exercise and find time for yourself. Don't fall victim to your own B.S. Don't talk the talk unless you can walk the walk. Impress with action not conversation. Endorse your business enthusiastically, yet tastefully. Avoid exaggerating truths and touting far reaching goals as certainties. In short, put up or shut up. Know when to call it quits. Contrary to popular belief, a smart captain does not go down with the ship. Don't go on a fool's errand for the sake of ego. Know when it's time to walk away. If your idea doesn't pan out, reflect on what went wrong and the mistakes that were made. Assess what you would have done differently. Determine how you will utilize these hardlearned lessons to better yourself and your future entrepreneurial endeavors. Failure is inevitable, but a true entrepreneur will prevail over adversity.
