l.Objective
Work instruction for calculation of loads is required for each engineering discipline to execute the detailengineeringworkforprojects.
2.Scope
Thisinstructionprovidescalculationanddefinitionofpipingloadsthatshallbe transmitted tocivil andstructuredepartment. This practice is applicable for all design projects in the fields of oil, gas, petrochemical, mining plant, andotherindustrialfacilities.

4.LoadDefinitions
4.1. Uniform Loads
All future and empty surfaces in the pipe rack (surface occupied by pipes with line size less than 20) are considered as having water filled piping of a diameter equal to the average of the system. The following table (table 1) and formula will be used for vertical load on the pipe rack (KN/m2) as a function of the average size . Maximum amount of load calculated due to formula and table should be considered. Table 1 Average of Piping 2 or less 1 3 1.5 4 2 6 2.5 8 3 10 3.5 12 4
Weight(KN/m2)
W: Full of Water Pipe Weight n: Number of pipe that can be placed in rack or sleeper in one meter width, due to 50 mm gap between outer edges of pipes

Any concentrated weight (such as valve, flange and fittings) shall be added proportionally to the calculatedloads. 4.2.4.OperatingLoad The Operating Load shall be sum of the forces & moments produced by Sustain, Thermal Expansion,FrictionandThrustLoadcontractionofattachedpiping. Operating Load needs to be calculated only for Axial and/or Lateral restraints as a concentrated loadbasedonthesumofthefollowingloads: 4.2.4.1.Sustainload Referto4.2.3. 4.2.4.2.ThermalLoad Thermal Load shall be approximated to 0.5 of Sustained Load for Axial restraints and 0.3 of Sustained Load for Lateral restraints (sustain load should be consider for effective length describe laterin4.5.) Sustainloadinthiscaseissustainloadofpipingbetweentwosupportinsamedirection. 4.2.4.3.FrictionLoad Friction Load is required to be calculated for axial restraints. For an anchor on a pipe support (except on pipe rack) Friction Force may be neglected. Friction Forces for 3" and smaller pipelines maybeneglected. The reaction forces and moments caused by the exhaust of fluid from safety valves, control valves, and other discharging piping components shall be taken into consideration of the design. Discharge reactionforcescausedbysafetyvalvesshallbecalculatedaccordingtoANSIB31.1forsteamservices, and API RP 520 for other services. Discharge reaction forces due to other piping components shall be calculated according to the project specification. 5.2. Equipment loads Equipment weights including empty, operating and test condition shall be shown. If test at site is not a design case or the equipment shall be tested in positions other than installed position, this shall be clearly indicated on the drawing. Equipment dynamic parameters including eccentricity, rotor mass and allowable settlement, for both nominal operation and starting shall be specified by vendor. Equipment preliminary total forces and moments for wind and earthquake shall be specified by equipment engineer. Vendor shall specify the exact loads and moment on each individual support. Equipment center of gravity (empty and operating). Elevation of any lateral support and its loading. Loads of lay down area or maintenance loads.
