WE HAVE A CHOICE
By Marilyn Conrad
One morning recently I was preparing to leave my house to go to the office. As I walked down the hallway to the kitchen, I heard hammering and wondered, What in the world is that? I walked into the kitchen to discover a man, down on his knees, trying to remove my sliding glass door with a hammer and a crowbar/chisel! Apparently he thought no one was home and since I startled him, he bolted and ran. The police were there within 5 minutes and I was able to give them a good description of the man. Later in the day I learned that two of my neighbors condos had been broken into and robbed. Praise God for His protection! The intercessors and my staff prayed for me and especially that I would not become fearful. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2 Tim 1:7 NKJV When in the midst of a crisis we want to focus on the danger. However, we always have a choice. Someone shared recently that the Chinese word for crisis is composed of two symbols. They represent two words: danger and opportunity. Like a crossroad which requires a choice. We must be aware of danger, however we must focus on the opportunity for God to show Himself strong on our behalf. We have a choice. Likewise, we have a choice during the Christmas holidays. We can look at our circumstances or we can focus on the Christ Child and His coming as the Savior of the world.

WE HAVE A CHOICE
Continued from page 1 I remember what a struggle I had that first Christmas without my family being together. I thought my heart would break and I was on the verge of tears most of the time. Many times at work I would have to run to the break room to compose myself. I would confess scriptures I had placed on the wall over the coffee maker until the peace of God would settle my emotions. I finally realized I had to make a choice. I could either continue hurting and being miserable, or I could celebrate Christs birth and allow God to heal my broken heart. As a result, my friend and I determined not to stay at home and isolate ourselves (her husband had recently died of cancer). We attended Christmas programs and concerts and held hands while singing carols, tears streaming down our faces. Was it difficult? Yes. Absolutely! Healing does not come without a struggle. A choice must be made in order for God to work. During this time, while attending a banquet, I was called forward and ministered to in front of 500 women. Not only was I given a prophecy about my marriage, but the speaker broke a spirit of loneliness off of me. She did not know that each evening I would remain downstairs as long as possible, because as I reached the landing on the staircase I would be engulfed in loneliness. As she prayed, that loneliness left and has never returned. What if I had not made the choice to celebrate the coming of Jesus, but instead had remained home: isolated and hurting? Being obedient to the Holy Spirit brought the healing I so desperately needed. During the holidays it seems to be easy to get our eyes off the Lord and onto circumstances and situations. At times it looks like we who are standing for God's best for our marriages and families are not winning at all. We often have difficulty with our finances while it appears our mates are being rewarded with prosperity and happiness. If you feel this is happening to you, I recommend reading Psalm 37. This psalm begins by saying, "Do not fret because of evildoers, be not envious toward wrongdoers." To fret means to glow or grow warm with anger, jealousy, or grieving. God desires to show Himself strong on our behalf but He can't do it if we are fretting and worrying. David says we are to: trust in the Lord; do good; dwell in the land; cultivate faithfulness; delight thyself in the Lord; commit your way to Him; rest in the Lord; wait patiently for Him; cease from anger; and forsake wrath. During the holidays we can learn to trust the Lord in a new and deeper way. However, trusting the Lord doesnt just happen, we

must choose to trust Him. When we make the choice to trust Him the results will be: He will give us the desires of our hearts; He will bring forth our righteousness as light and we will inherit the land. This holiday season protect yourself with the armor of God and fret not. Protect yourself from the right to be depressed, discouraged or full of strife. Determine to trust God more fully during this special season. He is always faithful. Deut 30:19: I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.

Merry Christmas from the home office!

We pray for peace, healing, health, happiness, and prosperity. We declare the blessings of the Lord upon you and may you experience the love of Christ as you celebrate His birth.

everything is as it seems. For many of us we are lacking "L" brackets to keep us together and working properly. My stove top looked great from the outside. It looked brand new, (probably because most of the elements never worked). The point being that we as believers attempt to hold it together, when in fact we are falling apart and need support. The six "L" brackets that bring support and stability to the stander are as follows: Loyalty: The Bible is either true in its entirety or it is utterly false. For if there is any falsehood to be found in the Word, then who can trust any of it? Standers are loyal to the Bible. They have taken the promises of the God of Heaven and believed them on this earth. They cannot be shaken and cleave to the Bible. What a support the Bible is to those who read and meditate on it. Is this bracket in place in your life? Laughter: It is important to not take ourselves too seriously. Laughter is healing to the soul and causes the negative feelings of this world to dissipate. When all hell is bent on destroying you, laughing is a sign of hell's impending doom. The Psalmist states that the Lord prepares a table for us in the sight of our enemies as a testimony to the protecting care and ultimate victory that is the believers portion. As a Covenant Keeper never allow the cares of the world to hinder your laughter. Laugh at the

my house. It was the kind that is flat and only has four knobs that turn on the heating elements. From the beginning my wife complained that the knobs were not working well. Something is wrong, she would complain. I assured her all was well. She went from three burners (the forth one apparently never has worked) to two, one and none. When she attempted to steam some veggies and nothing would turn on, she asked me to call a "real" repair man. I still do not know what she meant by real. As I was contemplating the essence of "realness," it dawned on me to look under the cabinet and see if I could find anything. Much to my consternation, I found that I had not completed the installation five years earlier. I had forgotten to install the "L" brackets that hold the knob assembly against the top of the stove. Once I installed the six "L" brackets the knobs fit properly and better yet, even turned on the corresponding heating element. The fourth element also complied to the turning of the knob. I was elated at my ninja repair skills and was raising my hands expecting a high five my wife simply shook her head and walked away. I am still contemplating her leaving me hanging, but realize that many believers are living their lives thinking they are cooking with all burners ablaze, when in fact not

devil and his cohorts as they try to mess with your life and your faith. Leadership: Standers lead by example. A man came and told me he was changing his life because my youngest daughter went to the mission field. He said that her willingness to go spoke to him louder than any sermon he had ever heard. Your stand shouts to the world that marriage is important and that God is real. It declares the truth about covenant and the importance of your words. You are leading and others are following, even if you never see the immediate fruit. Recognize the power of the witness you hold and continue in your stand, because people are watching. Legacy: You are not standing simply for the healing of your marriage, but for the generations that follow. You are standing in the gap to break the generational curse of divorce. Your stand, regardless of its duration or result, is the power that will stop divorce from becoming generational. Your grandchildren will reap the benefits of your stand. Be sure this bracket is in place for

their sakes. Liberty: As a Covenant Keeper you have a new-found liberty that no one can take away; the freedom to love without return, to pray without ceasing, to suffer hardship and weather that hardship to the glory of the Father, and to stand against the worlds wisdom for the healing of your marriage. This is true freedom. You have the liberty to be all that God desires you to be, unencumbered by the foolishness of the world. Grab hold of that liberty and stand! Life Blood. The blood of Jesus is everything to the stander. It is the robe of righteousness, the access to the Father, the healing power behind the miracle, and the foundation of the covenant. The blood of Jesus speaks of the sacrifice paid, the promises made, and the hope that is stayed. With these "L" brackets holding you together, you are in the perfect place to see the restoration of your marriage. Having done everything that you can, stand to the end. Victory will be yours for the glory of the Father.

Comments From The 2008 Conference I enjoyed the testimonies, praise and worship, teachings, meeting new people and renewing old friendships. But mostly I enjoyed being in the presence of the Lord with fellow believers. This was such a time of refreshing and renewal for me. And the movie Fireproof was an incredible bonus. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

WE HELP OTHERS
We are blessed to have leaders around the world who are willing to give their time and prayers to others. Below is a letter group leader Christina Eng, Malaysia, wrote to a lady from the Philippines who had emailed our office.
"I am so sorry to hear about your pain and the challenges you are facing. I truly understand your loneliness and pain as I too, have been through that. When my marriage broke up, (my husband left with a colleague from work and walked out on me when our daughters were 9 and 1 1/2 years old) I spent one year crying in church, hour after hour! I remember that every morning, one of the other families where I lived would help me send my daughter to school and then after I would drop my baby off at the babysitters, I would go to church. From about 8 am until nearly 11:00 AM I would sit and cry and pray and sleep (as I was not able to sleep at night). Then I would go to the office (by God's providence, I had my own business - don't ask me how the business survived!). Then by 12:30 I would be back sitting in church, crying, praying, and sleeping until nearly 3:00. Then I would return to my office for another hour before picking up my daughter from school and going home to cook for the kids. I couldnt eat myself, and I lost about 30 pounds (best looking time though!). At night I could not sleep and the Lord sent his people to pray with me, sometimes until 1:00 AM. Next day I repeated the same thing....this went on for a whole year, until my Bishop (whose office was next to the Chapel) called me in one day and told me that I had to pull myself together and EAT, because I had lost so much weight! Through it all, the Lord sent his instruments to see me through my darkest hours; sisters in Christ who unselfishly prayed hours and hours with me. I saw very clearly the hand of God working again and again. There were so many times that things happened that cannot be explained, which were miraculous. Everyday the situation with my husband just grew worse and worse. However, my faith grew by leaps and bounds and I never once doubted that there is a God and He loved me. I guess the Lord had plans and work for me, as He has for you. I am now so fully integrated into my church that I cannot imagine life without God, my Church or the Covenant Community that I belong to! Before my marriage broke up, I had not gone to church for many years. Although I am waiting for the Lord to bring my husband home, (my faith tells me that healing has taken place in the spiritual realm and it is only a matter of time before it takes place in the physical realm) my life has never been so fulfilling in serving Him in all the areas that He calls me to. We all have our journey to make, and it will be a different journey for you. The pain the Lord alone knows, but this I know for sure, when we seek him with all our hearts, He will not leave us alone! You will be OK. Your husband will be OK, and God will heal your marriage! Just seek Him with all your heart, mind, and strength! I pray for you to be able to step forward into service for the Lord. This is one area of the Lord's vineyard that needs workers desperately."

mas; our first Christmas since 1992." together He's paying the hefty deposit for her pets. I said, "I'm glad we ended on a high note," but he said, "This is not the end but the beginning of a wonderful friendship." CK was awakened by God every morning at 2 AM for five straight months. She prayed from John Eckhardts book "Prayers That Rout Demons" during this time. After five years her husband came to see her and said, "Please don't stop doing what you have been doing!" Minnesota: God gave CK revelation of the opportunity he has to love his wife now, in a unique way, that won't be available to him when she returns. North Carolina: I wanted to share a huge praise report. After nearly 6 years, my lovely bride has broken up with the other man and she began turning to me for consolation. I don't understand it, except I know it is God's faithfulness to our covenant! He is teaching me, as I, the slow and thick headed learner, am having to practice real unconditional love. God has truly given me a love for the other man and his family, as I know they are without Jesus. I can't wait to see my wife fully turn to God as Lord in all areas and He gives her His promised, lasting peace! Please keep praying, she is in a super-low place! Thanks for the encouragement! May God bless your wonderful ministry, as you teach people so much! Even more happened yesterday as my wife came over and I helped with her basic finances. She told me I'm the only person she can trust. Praise God! God convicted me many years ago that it was my responsibility to take care of my family. Thus, I have always paid the mortgage and any other bills I can. My bride called me last night and wanted me to come to dinner and a movie. Of course, I said yes. CK had a number of irritating problems to deal with, but God said "Love bears up under anything." (1Cor 13:7) So she did not complain, as she would have done in the past. CK has been motivated to pray more and also in tongues. People have commented that he looks happier. CK was able to share about Covenant Keepers at his men's group. The leader said he would study the Bible to find out what it says about divorce.

United States
Arkansas: "We headed up a 'childcare brigade' for the movie Fireproof. Our church rented the whole theater for a Thursday night sneak peek. 300 people went to the movies while we (and other volunteers) cared for more than 80 children. Colorado: CK just moved from Union Blvd to 4evers Dr! CK was able to safely drive across the country to pick up daughter who is also a covenant keeper. CK felt led to ask forgiveness for things that happened in her childhood. Pennsylvania: "Our entire group viewed the movie Fireproof and was delighted and encouraged. Tennessee: What good news came my way when I heard that two more marriages are healed. A friend shared with me her story about infidelity in their marriage and how God has brought healing into their family. My daughter shared that their friends at church were on the brink of separation when she became pregnant. A neighbor lady led them to the Lord; they are now together, in a Bible study, and have twins.

Canada
Saskatchewan: CKs brother-in-law gave his heart to the Lord.

Malaysia
CK praises God that her two children working in another city were able to buy a new condominium in a very nice area. She can see the Lords blessings on her children. Due to tremendous work pressure and a difficult boss who insisted on staff staying late every night and working every weekend, CK has been missing Sunday mass, her daily prayer and CK meetings. She felt she had no choice, since she needed the money. She prayed hard and the Lord helped her find another job and she was able to attend CK meetings at last. Praise God! Having struggled with depression since her husband left with the third party, CK praises God for discovering the power of the Word of God to lift her up everyday, as she is learning to commit herself to reading the Bible.

New Zealand
CK thanks God for his CK group and the support that God has given him. CK wants to thank the Lord that He has brought her out of the dark times into a time of praising, rejoicing and thanking Him for His goodness. CK met a Christian who had a broken marriage. He was able to share his stand and told him that there was an alternative to divorce. CK was shown by God, through prayer ministry, things from his childhood and this understanding has helped him.

WHAT DID FATHER SEE?

By Derrick Paluck, Board of Directors, Canada

hat was it like for God, the Father, as He searched for the right couple to be foster parents for His Son? Why did he pick a carpenter and a young mid-teen girl to be the earthly parents to the Savior of the World, to His beloved Son? What part of their character drew God to them? What could He see in them that others could not see?
When the angel of the Lord came unto Mary and greeted her in Luke 1:28-29: "Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!" But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was. (NKJV) She was not surprised nor does it say that she was afraid of the angel but puzzled by his greeting. This suggests that she was familiar with the presence of spiritual beings and the spiritual realm. But the main characteristic was her willingness to sacrifice all of who she was, her reputation, her will, her very being. All to do what God has called her to do. Luke 1:38: "Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word." (NKJV) Those words ring very close to what Jesus said in the garden of Gethsemane before being arrested. Obviously she had the heart of God and desired to do whatever the Father asked of her.

The other, often overlooked, member of the family was Joseph. Imagine the pain that he must have felt to see Marys growing figure with a child that was not his. Im sure human nature has not changed much in two thousand years, so there were rumors and gossip that would have floated around him and there would have been "friends" that would have made it their business to tell him each and every rumor that was going around, and even would have

of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. (NKJV) He, like Mary, was familiar with the spiritual realm and more importantly, was quick to obey Gods instructions. He did not wonder if it was God because he knew his God and was quick to react. He, too, put Gods will above his own. Both Mary and Joseph had the faith and the will to do what God had called them to do. God likewise has looked at each of us, has searched our hearts and found a treasure there. He has built upon the foundation of faith that was in each and every one of our hearts as He has called us to stand for reconciliation, to be a witness for Him. Like Mary and Joseph, He saw something in us that we may not even be aware of; something that will bring Him glory as we stand as physical examples for the reuniting of the Bride, His people, to His Son, the Groom. As we reflect upon the gift that we celebrate at this time of year let us also give thanks for the gift that he has placed in each of our hearts: to be parents to what He wants to birth in and through us. Have a Blessed Christmas season from Covenant Keepers in Canada!

offered up their own support. "You will be justified, if you divorce." "You are far too good for her." "There is someone better out there for you." How many of these statements have we all heard? It says in Matthew 1:19: Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. (NKJV) This shows us that he was willing to put aside his hurt and was mindful of Mary. Matthew 1:20: But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son

Southwest Region Yellow Ribbon Day

More than 50 Covenant Keepers celebrated the 10th anniversary of Yellow Ribbon Day in Austin, Texas on September 27th. Regional Directors, Tom and Lou Bearry, and State Director, Judy Pruitt hosted the meeting, which was once again held at the club house of the Bearrys housing addition.

Jerry & Nancy Gardner

Anointed praise and worship was led by Pastor Rick Randall of Austin Cornerstone Church and Vince Cox. The Lord blessed the group to hear not just one, but two healed marriage testimonies. Jerry and Nancy Gardner, Regional Directors for 2=1 Ministries (formerly called University of the Family) revealed how Gods love brought healing to their very troubled marriage.

Pastor Rick Randall & Vince Cox led praise & worship

After a great Texas BBQ lunch served outdoors, Damon and Mary Cotter shared their story. Damon left Mary with two little children after seven years of marriage. Once divorced, God began dealing with his heart and led Damon to Calvary Chapel Church where he submitted his life to Christ. As a result, restoration came to their marriage and salvation came to his entire family. All those attending were truly blessed, inspired, and encouraged. To God be the glory for the things He has done!
