11 unique Points of Yamazen Flash Systems

Yamazens proprietary Rf Gradient has been designed to elute the target compound at 4-CV minimizing the run time, solvent use and waste disposal while achieving the good sample separations. Less solvent use means less costs to acquire solvent and dispose waste, and its Eco-friendly. The sample elution at 4-CV is equivalent to eluting the sample at the speed of Rf 0.25, which is a proven fact that good separations are achieved in the normal phase silica column chromatography.

Yamazen UV detectors provide a broad detection range from 0.04 O.D. to 4.0 O.D. Thus, any samples ranging from thin and low UV absorbance samples to thick and high UV absorbance samples can be well detected and collected without any loss.

Yamazen is the one and only company that have successfully transferred the method from TLC to column chromatography. Yamazen silica columns well correlate with the world famous Merck TLC. Just enter the TLC Rf value of the target compound and the solvent mixture ratio, and the optimized Gradient method to elute the target compound at 4-CV (or at the eluting speed of Rf0.25) will be automatically developed. There are companies who use spherical silica packed columns. Those columns will not correlate with TLC, because the TLC has irregular silica on it, and not spherical silica.

Benefits of using Inject Column: It contributes to the better sample purification and separation to use an Inject Column as a sample-loading column together with a main separation column like Yamazen Universal Column, which makes the downsizing of a column possible. An Inject Column also eliminates the harmful effect (co-eluting of the sample) caused by highly polar solvent when it is used to dissolve a tough-to-dissolve sample.

Sample loading software: Just input TLC Rf values of the target compound and the nearest impurity, and the maximum sample load for each selected column will be automatically calculated and displayed. Its an excellent tool to quickly choose the best-suited column for the sample. Scale up and down can be done freely.

Ultra Slow Gradient (0-3% over 30 minutes): Mixture of polar solvents needs to be precisely controlled when purifying samples of which Rf value change largely by the amount of polar solvent like chloroform and methanol. Equipped with the upgraded firmware along with the high precision valves, the ultra slow

gradient is available with Yamazen systems. Running on the gradient, sample bands become narrower to achieve a great purification, and the eluting position can be controlled precisely. 7 Parallel detection between UV detector and ELSD or RI detector is possible with Yamazen flash systems (Option). The ELSD-100X offers a wide dynamic range and the ability to handle high concentrations of samples, which is critical for the flash purifications. It is of the stand-alone compact design and add-on device: The smallest footprint available in industry. The RI detector, RI-31 features that the baseline gets stabilized fast, and chromatography can be done at high flow rate up to 100ml/min. Using both an UV detector and an ELSD or a RI detector boosts productivity and efficiency since each detector can be used for the compounds on which it works best. 8 Toluene can be used as an elution solvent with Yamazen flash systems. When running with elution solvents such as hexane/ethyl acetate or chloroform/methanol, condensed ring aromatic compounds or compounds with many aromatic rings to be used to develop organic electronic industrial materials such as organic electro-luminescence can be crystallized or many not be retained by solid phase of a separation column long enough. This will result in poor separations. In that case, the sample separation will be improved by using toluene as one of the elution solvents. A wide detection range of Yamazen UV detectors allows Toluene to use as a elution solvent. 9 TLC Image Reader, Cat No. A272, RE-X10 (Option): Rf input directly from the TLC image is possible! Place the TLC plate on the TLC Image Reader. Just with a few clicks on the monitor, the TLC image is shot, stored, and Rf values of the target compounds are automatically calculated. Rf values are then entered as parameters to use for Automatic Method Setup and also for the sample loading software.

Equipped with a built-in UV light source and a camera. By shooting the TLC plate and clicking the target compound on the TLC plate, the Rf value of the target compound will be calculated and the optimized chromatography method will be developed automatically.

The TLC plate is displayed on the screen during run. Compound spots on the TLC plate and the compound peaks both are displayed on the

screen.

Both the photographic image of the TLC plate and the purification are saved as a data file.

Click the target compound and the nearest impurity on the TLC plate, and the maximum sample load for each column will be automatically calculated. Thus, enabling the chemists to choose the best-suited column for their sample.

10 Real Time Pressure Monitor: The precision pressure mater makes it possible to do real time monitoring of the pressure building up inside the column. When pressure hits the preset limit, the pump will stop as quickly as a flash, which will protect the system from being damaged. Highly responding pressure moderation system (PMS) prevents disposable plastic column and glass column from bursting, and allows the sample run to continue. Yamazen's motto is "Safety First! 11 External Nozzle Cleaning System (Option): External Nozzle Cleaning System removes the crystallized samples accumulated on the outside of the fraction nozzles and cleans well. Cross contamination is a big concern in flash chromatography. This system cleans outside of the fraction nozzles as well as inside. Thus, pure fractions will always be collected. This device keeps entire solvent lines always clean. (Patent No. 4551364)
