1.0 General information/ Introduction 2.0 Product features/ product functions

This specification guide covers the general requirements for design, manufacturing and installation of low voltage measuring and monitoring relays for monitoring load states of motors. The device shall be designed for monitoring the load states of single and three-phase asynchronous motors. The measuring principle should be based on an evaluation of the phase shift () between the current and the voltage in a single phase. The threshold limits for cos max and cos min should be adjustable in the range of 0 to 1 via front-faced dials. Also a reaction delay time of 0.2 s to 2 s and a starting-up delay time of 0.3 s to 30 s should be possible to be set. If the threshold limit for cos max or cos min is reached by the measured cos , the output relays de-energize. The device should have an internal electrical isolation of the supply and the measuring circuits. The product should be provided with the following LED indications: - Threshold for load limit cos max exceeded (preferably red LED) - Threshold for load limit cos min below (preferably red LED) - Supply voltage (preferably green LED) The motor load monitor shall be ABB type CM-LWN or pre-approved equal.

3.0 Conformance/ standards

The motor load monitoring relay shall be designed, manufactured and tested in accordance with the latest editions of applicable IEC standards. Product standard: Electromagnetic compatibility: ESD HF radiation resistance Burst Surge HF line emission IEC 255-6, EN 60255-6 IEC 61000-4-2, EN 61000-4-2 IEC 61000-4-3, EN 61000-4-3 IEC 61000-4-4, EN 61000-4-4 IEC 1000-4-5, EN 61000-4-5 IEC 1000-4-6, EN 61000-4-6

5.0 Technical data

6.0 Mechanical requirements

The motor load monitor should be realized in a 45 mm wide enclosure, possible to be mounted on DIN rail according to EN 50022. The connection terminals should be able to accept stranded wires in the size of 2 x 2.5 mm2 (2 x 14 AWG) with wire end ferrule. The enclosure should have a protection degree of IP50 and the terminals should have a protection degree of IP20. The mounting position of the device in a cabinet should not be limited. The product should have a mechanical resistance of 10 g, according to IEC 68-2-6. The vendor shall be certified in accordance to ISO 9001 (quality management system) and ISO 14001 (environmental certification). A complete environmental product declaration (EPD) shall be available upon request. The EPD shall describe the material used for the motor load monitoring relay, energy consumption, losses, etc.
