CLARA - Common Language Resources and their Applications. CLARA is training a new generation of researchers who will be able to co-operate across national boundaries on the establishment of a common language resources infrastructure and its expolitation. http://clara.uib.no/ Common Sense Advisory is a US-based independent market research company specialised in translation, localisation, interpretation, globalisation and internationalisation. Their website provides access to many interesting research articles including facts and figures, etc, and although some require payment, the majority are available either free of charge, or free of charge via simple registration. http://www.commonsenseadvisory.com/Home/tabid/36/Default.aspx The IMS (Institut fr Machinellen Sprachverarbeitung) of the University of Stuttgart has a useful webpage Computational Linguistics - Resources and Institutions which gives many links to items such as calendars of events, journals and newsletters, mailing lists, etc. http://www.ims.uni-stuttgart.de/info/FTPServer.html The Compendium of Translation Software - Directory of Comercial Machine Translation Systems and Computer-aided Translation Tools. The fifteenth edition (January 2009) is available online for free download. This comprehensive Compendium covers MT sytems, support tools and online systems. Older editions are also available for consultation. It is published on behalf of the International Association for Machine Translation by the European Association for Machine Translation. http://www.hutchinsweb.me.uk/Compendium.htm The Globalization and Localization Association (GALA) is a fully representative, non-profit, international industry association for the translation internalisation, localisation and globalisation industry. The association gives members a common forum to discuss issues, create innovative solutions, promote the industry, and present a joint - and more powerful - voice within the industry and to the outside community. The Machine Translation Archive This site gives you access to a huge amount of articles, books, papers, conference proceedings and so on related to machine translation and language tools. It also has a page of links to biographies of authors and researchers in the MT and related fields - useful for looking for experts! It is compiled by John Hutchins of the EAMT - European Association for Machine Translation The Localisation Research Centre The Localisation Research Centre (LRC) aims to help people at national and international level in the process of localisation. Roughly speaking, localisation means adapting digital content to take account of local language, culture and environment. The LRC offers help to those in need of localisation services, or can give information on what localisation is all about. http://www.localisation.ie/ The Language Technology Resource Centre This is an interesting American site which lists among other things worldwide language-related associations, links to machine translation sites, conferences and other interesting language resources. Full membership requires payment but you can still have access to abstracts of published articles and news about upcoming conferences, etc., and they have created an interesting wiki http://www.aclweb.org/ CNGL - Centre for Next Generation Localisation "Localisation" refers to the process of adapting digital content to the culture, locale and linguistic environments at high quality and speed. A site bringing together people, reports, technology and best practices in the domain of translation technologies. The Translation Automation User Society (TAUS) is a community of users and providers of translation technologies and services. It has a huge collection of real data which allows researchers to experiment on a realistic data corpus.
