The following sections list the minimum supported configuration for installation of the components of BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management version 8.6.02.
Note:
The recommendations mentioned in this guide support a typical setup. Configurations and disk space may vary depending on the size and number of devices being monitored. For more information, see the BMC ProactiveNet Performance and Scalability Guidelines.

Note: It is recommended to use the BMC PATROL Agent version 3.8.50 P01 and the VSM KM
version 2.9.60.03 with BMC ProactiveNet Server version 8.6.02 for virtualization monitoring.
BMC ProactiveNet CMDB Extensions and BMC Impact Model Designer requirements
BMC Impact Model Designer is installed with BMC ProactiveNet CMDB Extensions. The table below lists the requirements to install and use BMC ProactiveNet CMDB Extensions and BMC Impact Model Designer.

Java requirements
Java 1.6.0_20 is included in the installation of the BMC ProactiveNet Server.
Notes:
-In rare cases, if you are upgrading from BMC Impact Solutions to BMC ProactiveNet, a known issue with Java 1.6.0_20 causes a Null Pointer Exception. This error is harmless and can be ignored.
-To run the BMC ProactiveNet Maintenance Tool on a system in which the BMC ProactiveNet Server
is not installed, you need JRE version 1.6 or later. Systems on which the BMC ProactiveNet Server is already installed include JRE version 1.6.

SNMP libraries
The SNMP libraries are used for mib2map conversions (for example, with SNMP Adapter Configuration Manager or using snmptranslate.exe). The SNMP libraries are available at www.net-
snmp.org.
Adobe Reader
Adobe Reader is required to view and print the BMC ProactiveNet documentation from the documentation CD that is included with the kit. To download a free copy of Adobe Reader, visit the Adobe website: http://www.adobe.com.
Language-enabled platforms
BMC ProactiveNet is language-enabled. This means that the English product has been tested on localized operating system platforms in these languages: - Simplified Chinese - German - Japanese - Korean - French When installed on localized operating system platforms, BMC ProactiveNet can accept input, manipulate, and display data in these languages. The user interface of BMC ProactiveNet is displayed in English. The online Help for BMC ProactiveNet is displayed in English.
