The Beacon is positioned on the coastal edge of Eyemouth, famous for its fishing heritage and a popular destination for divers. The town is well serviced with a secondary school, a number of shops, public houses and restaurants. Beyond Eyemouth, there is a range of golf courses nearby, sandy beaches stretching north and south and challenging hill walks inland. The A1 trunk road provides easy access to Edinburgh as well as many historic places of interest in and around the surrounding area, along the Heritage Coastline. Inter-city rail services are available at Berwick (9 miles) offering direct services to Edinburgh to the north and London Kings Cross to the south. Edinburgh airport is the nearest international airport (60 miles). Driving north on the A1 from Berwick, take the A1107 after 6 miles signposted for Eyemouth. Continue over the roundabout and past the secondary school. Cross the River Eye and turn right on to Victoria Road. At Churches Hotel turn right into Harbour Road, at the Ship Hotel turn left into Chapel Street before taking the second left into St Ellas Place.
