EXAMINATION PATTERN FOR IMU CET The students, who are seeking their admission in undergraduate level program

in Bachelor of Science (Nautical Sciences), must appear in an entrance test - IMU Common Entrance Test (CET). The common entrance test is conducted by Indian Maritime University, which has been recognized by the Government of India. The University conducts the entrance test at various centers across the country. Examination Pattern The University imparts the course to train students and make them eminent in the field of maritime engineering. Therefore, the IMU Common Entrance Test (CET) is conducted to prepare candidates before admitting them in the academic program. The examination pattern of IMU CET is given below. The question paper comprises of only multiple choice type questions. There are four options available in each question, from which the candidates have to choose the correct one. All the questions in the test are based on these subjects: Physics Chemistry Mathematics English The candidates must answer all the questions within two hours, which is the duration of the test paper. All the instructions and questions in the common entrance test are only in English medium. Interview and Medical test The candidates, who have successfully qualified in IMU CET Entrance Test, must appear in an interview, which is conducted by the University. After the interview, the candidates are called for a medical test, which is conducted at various test centres. Final selection of the candidates is based on their performances in these three admission procedures. Every year, Indian Maritime University admits students to its undergraduate courses in maritime engineering through IMU Common Entrance Test, which is popular as IMU CET. The students, who are seeking their admission in these courses, must appear in the entrance test. The University generally conducts entrance test in its centres located at Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata and Vishakhapatnam. Syllabus All the questions in IMU Common Entrance Test (CET) are generally asked from the syllabus of Science subjects (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) of Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (10+2), recognized by any state/national Board. The candidates have to prepare all the fundamentals of these subjects before appearing for IMU CET Exam. Physics Gravitation, Electromagnetic Induction and A.C., Electrons and Photons, Radioactivity, Semiconductors, Heat Radiation, Wave Motion and Sound, Fluids, S.H.M., Rotational Motion of a Rigid Body, Magnetic Effects of Electric Current, Current Electricity, Electrostatics, Ray Optics, Wave Theory etc. Chemistry Nuclear and Radio Chemistry, Halogen Derivatives of Alkanes and organic hydroxy Compounds, Chemistry of Transition and Inner Transition Elements, Electrochemistry, Chemical Thermodynamics and Energetics, Nature of Chemical Bond II, Adsorption and Colloids, Carbohydrates, Proteins and Fats, Chemical Kinetics, Coordination Chemistry etc. Mathematics Probability, boolean algebra, linear inequations, limits and continuity, vector and 3-d geometry, matrices, statics & dynamics, indefinite integrals, definite integrals & its application, differential equations, etc. Eligibility The University conducts admission for only those students, who have fulfilled all the eligibility prerequisites for the IMU Common Entrance Test. The eligibility criteria for the applicants are given below. The candidates must have passed in Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (10+2) or its equivalent, from any recognized state/national Board. The candidates must have obtained not less than 50% marks in aggregate in Science subjects such as Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics of the qualifying examination. The candidates must have studied English as one of the main subjects in the qualifying examination. The candidates should not be more than 25 years of age at the time of applying for the academic program.
