EXECUTIVE OFFICERS VACC BOARD OF TRUSTEES 2013-2014

1 Founding Chairman/President DANTE LA. JIMENEZ A sheltered family man, Dante was pushed into crime fighting by a sibling tragedy. Yet, his is not vengeance but to rectify things, to render justice where it is due. He is solid in the maritime industry, a pylon in education in Bicol. He is multi-dimensional, a keen reader of public events. Quite properly, a Renaissance man. Ka Dante, fondly called, had been on the advocacy against crime and corruption for 23 years since 1990 (when his brother Boboy was killed by a drug syndicate in Paraaque and Las Pias. A dreadful Christmas for the family, then). 2 Chairman Emeritus LAURO G. VIZCONDE Transformed debilitating pain to a majestic crusade for justice and common good. One may see a husband grieving, a father wilting for a beautiful family lost in violence. Ka Lauro lost his entire family wife and 2 daughters in 1991 from a massacre by drug crazed individuals and lost his pursuit for real justice in a widely criticized Decision by the Supreme Court in 2011. Yet, there is a Man by the rock --- leading fellow victims against injustice, against a weak system. Even against time. But unrelenting, prodding on. 3 Chairman MARTIN BUBOT B. DIO Death threats are normal to Kap Bobot Dio and reacts with, Kung matatakot ka, walang mangyayari. Ang krusada ng VACC ay ipaglaban ang tama at dapat kaya handa naman ako sa mga ganitong klaseng harassment. It is easy to detect the politician in Kap, as he is known in Barangay San Antonio, District 1, QC, where he served as former Barangay Captain just

as his father before him there. He got into politics by chance since he was already poised to migrate to the United States with his family. As the clich goes, service beacons and he could not refuse. Capt. Bobot is more known to have helped the child victim Baby Echegaray by her own father (Leo) who was executed in 1999 by lethal injection. 4 Vice-Chairman ATTY. MANUEL S. OBEDOZA, JR. Volunteer lawyer of VACC since 2010, this courageous man has helped victims of heinous crimes in their pursuit for justice in various courts. Manny stands tall in the eyes of his wards; more respect in debates with his peers to juice the truth from the crassness of life. 5 Vice-President MS. CORY R. QUIRINO In broadcasting scene since the 1980s, Cory is the third child of Tommy Quirino and Conchita nee Rastrollo; grandaughter of President Elpidio Quirino. Ms. Quirino was abducted in 1995 while shooting in Caliraya, Quezon, her show, Citiline. It was harrowing, with forced movements and violence. But her smarts prevailed and the abductors were caught. The experience aids her well in VACC advocacy. 6 Secretary General MERLE JIMENEZ-SAN PEDRO A sociologist, a maritime training professional, an academe. Activist in gender equality, womens rights, against discrimination. Yet behind that personal glitter is a bleeding heart for her brother Jaime Jr. killed by a drug syndicate operating in Las Pias and Paranaque. From a bullet at prime of his career and community involvement, a common bond of the family. 7 Treasurer EMERSON D. PASCUAL Emeng lost his two brothers, Ericson and Ebertson. From assassins allegedly hired by Ernesto Natividad, former mayor of Gapan, Nueva Ecija. The sordid crime on March 20, 2006, took three innocent bystanders.

Arraignment was dramatic when Judge Alameda, in crutches, went down the city hall garage to read the charges against Natividad in an ambulance. This breaks the practice of hospital shelter tolerated by the Courts for the rich and influential. VACC pushed, the wheels moved. At last! 8 Auditor ARSENIO BOY G. EVANGELISTA Mang Boy, as fondly called, became active in VACC when his son, Venzon was killed on January 13, 2011 by the Dominguez carnapping syndicate operating in Metro Manila. Mang Boy has been very active in mass media advocating the fight against carnappers and coddlers. He heads the VACCnappers, a specialized core networking nationwide. 9 Trustee DR. PAZ B. MOJICA Dra. Paz had been in the advocacy against crime when her husband, Roberto C. Mojica, was killed by a known troublemaker in their place in Sampaloc, Manila on October 8, 1991. The killer was sentenced to life imprisonment but died without completing the sentence. Dr. Mojica is an Original Member of VACC since 1998. 10 Trustee ENGR. TOMAS N. OROLA Tom got involved in VACC because his brother-in-law was killed by a dreaded drug syndicate in Bacolod City. Eleuterio A. Salabas was declared dead on September 20, 2003 from gunshot wounds at Punta Buriat Barangay Ajay, Iloilo. The wife of the victim Dr. Elizabeth O. Salabas got justice with the conviction of some members of the drug syndicate with the help of VACC. 11 Trustee MRS. JULIET CRUZ Her two sons, Leo Valentine and Leo Jonathan, were killed in Pasig City on November 30, 1993 by known bullies in their place. The culprits have been sentenced to life imprisonment. But a technical appeal was lodged due to unsigned stenographic notes by the Courts Stenographer. Closure of the Case took l8 years, the longest case of the VACC.

Trustee

CAPT. ALEXANDER G. ABILO Capt. Alex is an avid supporter of VACC and later accepted to serve in the Board of Trustees. He joined VACC fueled by the heinous crime against the family of his crew member. The entire family of his most trusted cook Randy Olarte were massacred in Laguna on July 11, 2011. Justice remains elusive.
