Electronic Newsletter for Wyomings OUT-OF-OPTIONS Furkids

July 22, 2013

e-WOOF is a bi-monthly

e-newsletter produced by a small group of Wyoming dog rescuers in an effort to highlight shelter dogs in critical need of help.

URGENT - Casper Metro Animal Control Contact: Cathy Corbin at 307-267-6524 or rescuerangers2@yahoo.com TUCKER is a Heeler mix, 3 years old. No doubt about it I am a great looking dog with beautiful colors. I enjoy going for walks, sniffing, and feeling the sunshine on my face. I am only about 1820 tall just the right size. Im hoping to find a new family to love me and whom I can love in return. We could have a great time going for walks or even jogs. Please come meet me and lets go for a walk! ____________ Longmont, CO - Longmont Humane Society Contact: Kim at transfers@longmonthumane.org or 303-772-1232, ext. 270 www.longmonthumane.org VAIL is a 10 year old, female, black Lab. She is currently on Tramadol for apparent pain in her hip area. We also started her on a special diet and medication for diarrhea. The latter may be stress related due to the shelter environment. Vail will pace back and forth and pant in the kennel, she has a hard time resting. She really needs to be in a home. Vail is good with other dogs and cats. She is very sweet and a volunteer favorite! ANGELINA is a 14 year old, female, Shepherd mix. Angelina was
found in our night drop on June 26. She is very thin, geriatric, and has a variety of health issues stemming from apparent neglect. She is good with other dogs -- tolerant of most dogs, all sizes. No cats! She snapped at the cat when the cat swatted at her, also wanted to chase the cat when the cat ran. Angelina did show some resource guarding over a kong but since she is so underweight and malnourished from years of neglect, this behavior is not surprising. A formal evaluation hasnt been done yet; however, with the resource guarding, we would recommend older children who are aware of her guarding behavior. Angelina has had a rough life so far and we would love to find her a stable, permanent home for her remaining days. ____________

e-WOOF spotlights many dogs that face euthanasia within days unless they are rescued, fostered, or adopted.
Transport can be arranged, in most cases, to approved adoptive or foster homes or rescue organizations. Please help us! These are good, healthy, happy, loving dogs that are out of luck and out of time. We urge you to crosspost to e-mail lists and Web groups, forward to friends, send to co-workers, and share with family. We hope our efforts, combined with yours, will save many lives.

Time is of the essence for helping the dogs featured in the e-WOOF newsletters. Please contact the name/numbers for each dog before contacting eWOOF. In most cases, time is limited for the dogs featured in our newsletters--with that in mind, we try to get the word out to as many contacts as we can using this publication. Work on behalf of the animals for finding them homes and/ or rescues comes from many, many sources and is an ONGOING effort dealt with a sense of urgency. In some cases there may be times when a sudden adoption and/or rescue comes through at the exact time our newsletter is issued. This is an unforeseen circumstance on our part--while we certainly understand the crossover may cause frustrations for you as the prospective adopter of an animal we hope you join us in rejoicing for an animal being saved. We appreciate and thank you for your continued support FOR THE

PLEASE NOTE:

Park County Animal Shelter -- Cody, WY Contact: 307-587-5110 or manager@parkcountyanimalshelter.com ATHENA came to us very skinny and neglected. This sweet girl had been tied up outside for days in the pouring rain with no food, shelter, or water. When the police brought her to us, you could almost see the relief in her eyes! She has come a very long way since then. She is active and loving, and loves to go for walks. She never had much training in her previous home, so she does need a bit of work. With a little bit of patience and love she would become a wonderful companion! MIA is a 5 year old female Tree Walking Coonhound mix. She came
to us because her owners were moving and could not take her with them. She was raised around children so she would be a wonderful family dog. She is wonderful with other dogs--she would be best in a home without cats. (She would most likely chase them.) She is a very affectionate and sweet girl who loves everyone! MIA

Scooby has been with us for 3 years now, and is still looking for his forever home. He can be a little intimidating while he is in his cage, but once he is out of the cage he is a different dog. He takes a little bit to get used to new people, but if you take him for a walk and give him a treat he will be your best friend. He needs to be in a home without small children or cats, but does get along well with most other dogs. He also needs to be in a home where his owner will be an Alpha personality. ____________

SCOOBY is an 8 year old Rottweiler/German Shepherd mix.

ANIMALS!

Rainbow Rescues - Casper, WY Contact: rainbowrescues@outlook.com or Tiffany at jabezmarie@gmail.com or 307- 277-5071 LITTLE JOE is a ten year old purebred Miniature Pinscher needing a permanent home. He has a special diet for liver function and does well; otherwise Joe is in perfect health. Joe has learned many obedience commands, loves walking, and close companionship. He is housetrained and kennel trained. He is quiet, only barks to go outside or come inside. At this state, it would be good for Joe to be an only dog. He is neutered, current on vaccinations, and weighs about ten pounds. His previous owner moved to an apartment where pets are not allowed. ____________

Sheridan, WY Contact: Jody at 307-752-0741 or dogsetc@actaccess.net Meet SWEETS and DOBBIE! Sweets (2 years old) is the mother of Dobbie (9 months old) and was found with him on the up ramp to the interstate near Lodge Grass, Montana. She has been vaccinated, vetted, and spayed. She would prefer a home without rowdy dogs. While Dobbie is very active, Sweets is quiet and loves to hang out and get attention. She will be about 65 lbs. when she gets her weight back. She was very thin and went far too long without good food so she guards all food from other dogs. But she has never been anything but cooperative and kind with people and loves, loves, loves attention! Dobbie has been vaccinated, vetted, and neutered. He is friendly and learning some social graces. He needs his own home! ____________

National Brittany Rescue and Adoption Network Contact: Linda Mickley at 307-760-4907 or lmickleyk9s@gmail.com Annie is a sweet senior Brittany girl (house-broken and crate
trained) who is looking for her forever home for her golden years. She is very spry at 11-years old; she loves to run and romp. Annie seems to be a retired birding dog, as she is quite deaf, but she is VERY visually stimulated. She watches birds fly and tracks them overhead! She is a petite 30 pounds, and loves her dinners, petting, a good roll in the grass, and being near you. She is current on her vaccinations, spayed, has had a dental (poor nutrition in her early years led to her having 7 non-molar teeth removed... she just needs her food moistened), and is Heartworm negative. She just loves her walks, and snuffling in the grass and looking for birds. She is an absolute gem of a girl! She gets along with other dogs, as long as they arent pushy. She will be cat-tested. A home without young children would be best (due to her deafness), and she will require a very secure fenced area for exercise. She does play fetch and has a gentle mouth. She will readily come to you when she sees you and you no wave for her. She would be a good candidate for a photo vibration training collar. Her adoption fee is $200, or $100 if available the adopter is over 60. Please go to the NBRAN website for an application. http://www. nbran.org/adoptappl.asp ____________
