Multipoint systems are a cost effective way to connect multiple remote facilities and devices. Sector antenna connected to directional antenna limits interference Frequency agile radios; 5.25-5.85GHz plus adjustable channel sizes: 5, 10, 20 and 40MHz, provide maximum deployment flexibility Common remote devices are cameras, sensors, traffic signs, alarms, etc.
PtMP (Controlled Access)
Each radio is polled one at a time, so they do not self interfere and WORP dynamically figures out which radios require more bandwidth and polls them more frequently.
MESH
Self-Healing, Self-Forming Dynamically assigns mesh route All possible paths are calculated
> Allows instantaneous change if new route is needed
Only one route is active Best path continuously determined based on measurement of: traffic, signal strength, hops and other parameters Advantage: Simple to Deploy Disadvantage: Does not scale to large networks, does not guarantee communication or timing so unsuitable for video or networks requiring precise timing

Wi-Fi Mesh used in a PtMP Topology
For small networks with excess capacity, Wi-Fi Mesh works fine, but when more Mesh nodes are added to a mesh gateway, the load increases which creates errors, causing retransmissions. This reduces overall capacity and as more Mesh nodes are added this creates more errors, further reducing capacity, which degrades all links and video quality.

Omni antennas are required to enable redundancy in a Mesh network but they pick up interference from 360 degrees so create errors much faster and as more Mesh nodes are added to the network, this increases latency and effects all cameras connected to network

What is it? > MIMO (Multiple In Multiple Out) is the capability to transmit multiple data streams across multiple RF flow Each RF flow carries different information at any given time.
