Kudu Duminda's recovery spells danger to narcotics officers -Ajith murder is testimony

(Lanka-e-News

-23.July.2013,10.30PM) Following the recovery of Kudu Duminda , the drug menace had once again raised its monstrous head , and the officers of the anti narcotics Bureau are in grave fear as their lives are under threat, according to reports reaching Lanka e news inside information division. Appuwahandi Ajith Sampath who died at Mt.Lavinia recently when Narcotics Bureau shot him is one against whom Wele Sudha a powerful bigwig of the drug underworld ring of Sri Lanka (SL) has given a contract to kill . Well placed inside sources of the narcotics Bureau stated . The individuals who are targeted for murder in the case filed against Wele Sudha are the three officers of the CID and Narcotics Bureau who are key witnesses in this case. Two of these three officers have already gone on retirement and these two offices are in a most insecure state. The two officers are DIG Kulatileke who spearheaded the operations to bust Sudhas drug ring and IP Dilruksha Perera . Late Appuwahandi Ajith Sampath had been spying on them with a view to commit these contract murders , and the monies due on this contract had already been deposited to his account, the Narcotics Bureau had received information. It is well and widely known that Wele Sudha is a king pin in drug peddling and dealing. He has no education and his father had been an illicit kasippu

seller. Sudha who was living in a small hut in a by road of Subuthi road near the Wellawatte bridge later moved to a house in the middle of a paddy field in Badowita division. While he was carrying on his drug business , he became known by the name of Wele Sudha based on his place of residence in the Wele. Among the drug dealers , he built a reputation among addicts and dealers for his excellent quality drugs. In order that others dont sell inferior quality drugs imitating his , he used a hitherto unknown method he was in the habit of changing his trade symbol monthly. If he uses a kungfu exponent as a symbol , the next time he changes it to the setting sun and so forth. The narcotics Bureau was able to trap his business via this symbol. In fact Sudha had told it is the setting of the sun symbol that brought him destruction. The Narcotics Bureau was able to raid his kudu (drug) factory in 2012 April when three women and three men who were engaged in filling drugs into packets were arrested . The media at that time gave wide publicity in that connection. The Narcotics Bureau officers who took into custody wife and relatives of Wele Sudha were also able to trace the monumental assets purchased by Wele Sudha out of the kudu earnings, and legal suit was filed to confiscate them. Sudhas wife at that time had also revealed the close ties between kudu Duminda and Wele Sudha. However this fact was suppressed for obvious reasons. The first witness in the case filed for confiscation of assets was , DIG Kulathileke and the second witness was IP Dilruksha Perera. Incidentally ,Dilruksha Perera was the chief officer of the CID team which swooped on the website office of Mangala Samaraweera some time ago on the pretext that the website was passing information to Lanka e news . Now , it is this same Dilruksha Perera who is seeking security in the face of the death threats besetting him from the kudu mafia (drug mafia) enjoying political patronage. Lanka e news which always champions the cause of the downtrodden, the oppressed and victims of injustice has in any event decided to make this exposure on his behalf : It is possible for one to imagine the power and influence of Wele Sudha who is carrying on these kudu businesses while being in Pakistan if one understands why the SL government took measures to transfer all the CID officers who conducted the raid on the kudu dens of Wele Sudha in SL. The senior narcotics officers of the Bureau who were conscientiously performing their duties for so many years were left high and dry. DIG Kulathileke was

one of them . ASP Srilal Perera is another officer who is also subjected to similar ill treatment. He is now transferred to a remote corner in Trincomalee and is discharging ordinary police tasks. The troika : kudu Duminda-Wele Sudha- criminal offense secretary Gota who work together use their powers on these lines to victimize those who perform their duties duly. Might it be recalled that on one occasion when a quantity of heroin of Duminda was being loaded along the coastal strip of Chilaw , the vehicle K N 7046 , a red Prado of Duminda was seized by the police only to be released later on instructions from the top. It was anyway discovered that this vehicle belonged to the Presidents Security Division. This clearly evinces how the kudu troika is operating . Wele Sudha who was in the doldrums for some time had now got his life back after kudu Duminda his closest partner came back on the kudu scene . Sudha is now rising from the ashes to which he was reduced. If the assets that were confiscated are to be got back by Wele Sudha , it was decided that the two key witnesses in this case which is already weakened because of the transfers of these officers, have to be liquidated. One of the individuals who was employed towards these intended killings was Ajith Sampath who was shot dead at Mt.Lavinia. The officers of the narcotics Bureau who respect laws are of the view that Sampath was killed at once instead of apprehending him and eliciting further information was a conspiracy to suppress evidence that could incriminate the criminal troika. These extra judicial killings of underworld criminals must be stopped therefore, because these are done to achieve the ulterior motives of mafia operators like the troika , and not based on genuine reasons to eradicate crimes raging in the country. In any case the genuine Narcotics Bureau officers have the need now not only to safeguard themselves from the underworld groups but also from the criminal troika like Gota -Duminda Sudha . When it is well and widely known that even Baratha Lakshman could not save his life and protect himself from these criminals, kudu Duminda and Gota , it is imaginable what life risks these ordinary police officers are incurring . Hence, it is the absolute duty of the IGP to ensure the maximum protection to these officers.
