III. Justification for Change This change clarifies the structure of the program relative to the required admission portfolio. To be fully accepted as art majors, students must pass a portfolio review, the Entrance Portfolio. Students may submit the portfolio at designated times each semester up to or concurrent with their enrollment in ART 1100 and ART 1150. They may also submit the portfolio after completing these two classes. However, they may not proceed into any additional studio art classes until they have passed this portfolio review. The subsequent classes in the studio foundations sequence after ART 1100 and 1150 are ART 1200, ART 2150, and ART 2550. (Later classes will require one of these three as a prerequisite, so this chane is not needed there.) In practical terms, this new prerequisite limits enrollment to students who have been changed in Banner from ART-INTEREST to ARTwhich happens after successfully passing the portfolio review and being formally admitted into the art major.
