This course is intended to develop students environmental awareness, and an appreciation for the environmental impacts of their future careers. It discusses the various types of environmental pollution and introduces a variety of traditional and alternative methods available to prevent and remediate their presence. It is a fun course . Assessment and grading:


Your final class grade will composed of the following: 20% Course assignments 10% Quizzes, and attendance 30% Midterm test 40% Final test

Homework Guidelines:
Homework will not be accepted after the class it is due on. If you miss a homework, you get a zero in that homework. Homework problems should be written neatly with a box placed around the final answer. A cover sheet, provided by the instructor should be used, and the homework should be 1

WEEM 101 Dr. Qasem Abdelal solved on a blank A4 white paper. You must show your work to receive credit. Neatness counts illegible or messy solutions will be penalized at the discretion of the grader.

Attendance Policy:
Each student is expected to attend all classes. I will be taking attendance randomly. An absent student will be losing one grade from his/her overall course grade. For example, for a student absent 3 times, his maximum score for the Quizzes and Attendance will be 7 of 10 possible points.

Cellphone Policy:
Use of the cell phone during the class is strictly prohibited. Violators risk taking their cell phones away. Keep your cell phone turned off and away in your pocket or purse. No cell phones are allowed on the tables. If you need to use your cell phone for a phone call or sending a text message, please leave the class permanently.

Academic Integrity:
I encourage students to work together on homework assignments; however, individual solutions are required. If cheating or copying is suspected, all students involved will receive a zero for that assignment. Cheating during tests will be punished according to the university regulations outlines in the student guide that can be obtained from the registrar.

Environmental Chemistry: stoichiometry, enthalpy, chemical equilibrium 3. Water pollution: water resources, pollutants, BOD, lake and reservoir water quality, groundwater quality, ground water remediation technologies. 4. Water quality control: municipal water and wastewater systems, water and wastewater treatment 5. Introduction to Air pollution 6.
