DRAW BACKS OF FASHION

We are living in the world dominated by the Media Mafias. I would call them Mafia because they are acting in such a way. They manipulate the facts and they provide wrong information. They are attacking on our culture by promoting new and harmful trends in area of fashion and life style. Before going further let us see what is fashion. Fashion is perplexing, intriguing, irritating and, above all, compulsive. Like it or not, fashion exerts a powerful hold over people-even those who eschew it. While reactions to fashion are ambivalent, there is no doubt that clothes matter. The old adage that clothes make the 'person' still counts, while the wrong look for a particular occasion can have disastrous consequences. But how knowledge about appropriate dress codes can be acquired? How are everyday codes of dress constructed and modified by new styles? How do the ways we clothe the body contribute to the performance of the 'self' or person? There are no easy answers to these question thus one can say fashion perplexes and we are bound to follow the trends without thinking much about it. Fashion can be pretty confusing. You may think you know whats in and whats out, but how do you find out for sure? Youd need to consult some kind of expert someone with vast fashion experience, someone who knows everything about fashion The fashion merchandising industry will try to manipulate your desire to be fashionable. There are whole departments full of people whose paychecks are earned solely by selling to you based on whats fashionable. That being said, be wary of advertisements for the newest fashion if its not really something you want. Im not going to give you the whole be yourself, make your own fashion speech. Just dont let people sell you something that you didnt walk into the store to buy. If you want to go all out with fashion, you need to be able to keep up with it. After all, one of the major drawbacks of fashion is that it can change quickly and without notice. My point? Be alert. Dont go around in an oblivious cloud of how awesomely fashionable you are, or when you pull out, you just might be horrified to find yourself dare I say itNOT FASHIONABLE! Oh, why? Why?! So, as you can see, all-out fashion is a dangerous toy to play with. Of course, far be it from me to deter you from your dreams of being fashionable; just make sure you can stay aware of when something falls out of style. This is why I tend to leave serious fashion to the professionals. I wish I could just come out and tell you whats fashionable and what isnt, but there are two reasons that I cant. 1: If we apply the rule stated inn the above paragraph, it stands to reason

that anything that I type now will have fallen off the face of the fashion planet Apart from these difficulties fashion can take away from culture. Here are some examples in females that are making them almost nude. 1. The trousers of females are going up and up and one can easily see their shin (lower leg) 2. Cut (Chalk) of their shirts are going wide and above their buttocks to their waist and one can see the buttocks of females easily These are just two examples of fashion which make our modest girls almost nude to others according to our eastern standards Let us take examples in boys. 1. Pants of boys are slipping down and they have reached to just above their hips that gives them strange look. 2. Sleeves of their Shirts are going up and up we can see the armpits of them. 3. Blind followers of movies are getting tattoos on their arms and chest to follow their heroes. So we can conclude that fashion makes us crazy, we play at the hands of others and if we look at the fashion changes carefully it can make us laugh. Furthermore it is making us more and more nude and thus taking away our modesty. I therefore humbly suggest avoiding following fashion blindly but one can change the style of dress and other things after careful consideration and analysis. After all we are educated. Coins always have two sides. Fashion has two as well. We can feel its harmful effects and influence on our everyday life

2ND TOPIC
With time different trendy styles are introducing day by day. Especially women adopt different styles and techniques to look unique and attractive among others. During gatherings and parties the most attention grabbing thing in women is different styles and their alluring outfits. It is in the nature of females to compete with their same gender colleagues or friends to look different. In this article, I am going to tell you people some awful aspects of fashion techniques that are quite dangerous for health. Some basic drawbacks noticed in previous years of several trends are backbone pains due to heavy fashionable bags, ankle fractures or swellings due to high heels. So, these are the most common side effects of trends and with time and an increasing ratio of different styles and vogue, these harmful effects are also increasing rapidly. Now, I will discuss some other jewelry items and outfits that are quite unsafe to adopt.

Everyone loves heavy earrings because they are quite helpful to grab the attention of men and women, especially due to their big size everyone will stare at your face. Therefore, it has been proved that a female can grab the attention of others by this style but on the other hand the side effects of this jewelry item are quite horrible. Wearing such heavy earrings in parties on regular basis can cause serious problems to your ears and the consequences ends up with surgery of the affected area. Now, the second important issue or drawback usually girls face is of injured ankles due to very high pointed heels. Though, this trend of shoes is quite alluring because it totally increase the height of a person and helps to draw attention of others but this trend has also got so many side effects. The consequences of wearing long heels are quite drastic. Sometimes, it results in a broken ankles or swelling of muscles. It has also been seen noticed that such accidents also resulted in severe operations of ankles. Moreover, poor and cheap dyes used by manufacturers to dye clothes can also be very harmful to those women who are quite sensitive to chemicals. So, the whole purpose of this article was to give awareness to females that it is always not a good idea to adopt latest trends and styles to look unique.

[1] The more technical trm , costume , has become so linked to the term "fashion" that the use of the former has been relegated to special senses like fancy dress or masquerade wear, while "fashion"

means clothing more generally and the study of it. Although aspects of fashion can be feminine or masculine, some trends are androgynous . [2][3]

Recent researches : Recent researches Fashions changes, but change is always the fashion fashion come and go at a surprisingly steady rate, new researches suggests, driven by a small minority of innovators amidst a majority of people copying each other. The new research, published in the academic journal Evolution and human behavior, shows how Radom copying, with occasional innovation , leads are collectedly tastes to change consistently and at a predictable rate. because the copying is random, however, it cannot be predicated exactly which new fashions will replace the old ones.

Early fashion : Early fashion Early Western travelers, whether to Persia , Turkey , India , or China frequently remark on the absence of changes in fashion there, and observers from these other cultures comment on the unseemly pace of Western fashion, which many felt suggested an instability and lack of order in Western culture. The Japanese Shogun 's secretary boasted (not completely accurately) to a Spanish visitor in 1609 that Japanese clothing had not changed in over a thousand years. [4] However in Ming China , for example, there is considerable evidence for rapidly changing fashions in Chinese clothing . [5] Changes in costume often took place at times of economic or social change (such as in ancient Rome and the medieval Caliphate ), but then a long period without major changes followed. This occurred in Moorish Spain from the 8th century, when the famous musician Ziryab introduced sophisticated clothing-styles based on seasonal and daily fashion from his native Baghdad and his own inspiration to Crdoba in AlAndalus . [6][7] Similar changes in fashion occurred in the Middle East from the 11th century, following the arrival of the Turks , who introduced clothing styles from Central Asia and the Far East . [8]

Early Fashion :

Early Fashion The beginnings of the habit in Europe of continual and increasingly rapid change in clothing styles can be fairly reliably dated to the middle of the 14th century , to which historians including James Laver and Fernand Braudel date the start of Western fashion in clothing. [9][10] The most dramatic manifestation was a sudden drastic shortening and tightening of the male over-garment, from calf -length to barely covering the buttocks , sometimes accompanied with stuffing on the chest to look bigger. This created the distinctive Western male outline of a tailored top worn over leggings or trousers. The pace of change accelerated considerably in the following century, and women and men's fashion, especially in the dressing and adorning of the hair, became equally complex and changing. Art historians are therefore able to use fashion in dating images with increasing confidence and precision, often within five years in the case of 15th century images. Initially changes in fashion led to a fragmentation of what had previously been very similar styles of dressing across the upper classes of Europe, and the development of distinctive national styles.

Difference between old and new fashion: Difference between old and new fashion Fashion is artform that recycles itself. For example this past season the eighties strong shoulder came back but it was modernized ; during the eighties shoulder pads were put into every garment imaginable and most times those garments were boxy and shapeless. Today (fall '09 season) that trend was translated into sleek fitted sheath dresses and tailored suits. It almost gave some garments a furturistic appearance. One of the biggest difference between fashion then and now is simply technology in textiles and just in general. Textiles as a science has evovled in ways that were unimaginable during the early part of 20th century. This changes how fabrics can be used and shaped. The greatest difference would be society. Women as well as men are much more casual in dress to today than they ever were. Most people look for comfort in every aspect of their clothing. There was a time that women (and men) would not leave the house without wearing a hat and a pair of day gloves. Just as during the corset period in fashion a woman leaving the house without wearing one was viewed as "loose". Unfortunately leaving the house in a t shirt , jeans and bummy shoes has become the norm for most of America. Most people want effortless fashion that is comfortable and timeless.

Early human clothing:

Early human clothing Humans began to wear clothing 170,000 years ago, concludes a new study that suggests our ancestors first put on clothes after the second-to-last Ice Age , when being nude must have been too cool for comfort. The evidence comes from seemingly very unfashionable lice, since scientists tracked when head lice evolved into clothing/body lice around 170,000 years ago. So lice have been with us since the worlds first clothes were made.

Impact of fashion on youth: Impact of fashion on youth Fashion has now become unseparate part of youth. Fashion effects to our lives by getting us involved something new. Maybe it depends on the weather or seasonal change. In my opinion, there are two points positive and negative effects of fashion on youth. First of all, I could say about positive effects of fashion, that girls or boys use of fashion to attract representatives of their contrary part. For example, every young people want to have fashionable dressing couple. They pay attention to one another clothes, hairstyle, jewellery and so on. By this way, they seem having attractive appearance and give pleasure each others. Thus, it cause good relation between them. After looking at this example, we can see obviously advantage part of fashion for youth. In spite of previous example, we can point out negative effect. At present, youth think only new fashion and this cause spending much money. Therefore, they are not able to take notice other needs. As a matter of fact, my friends or group mates dispense their profits to clothes, hair style and others. Eventually, they are obliged to borrow money from their friends. For instance, clearly shows, that to pursue just the fashion take out hopeless result. As a result, here to elicit advantage and disadvantage effects of fashion on youths life. Every youngster must know this, if they keep with the fashion, they must do it according their opportunities.

Fashion is harmful: Fashion is harmful Young girls are trying to emulate celebrities/models and can't differentiate the celebrity's "public persona" wardrobe from their everyday "at-home" wardrobe. Young girls look to celebrities and/or models when trying to figure out fashion. They see what is dished out to them from the media or from in-person events. They don't understand that much of what celebrities wear is worn specifically for the publicity. Some even for shock value just to get into the forefront of the public eye. They see models with unrealistic body shapes and think that to be beautiful and successful they too have to be unhealthily thin. They don't know how many models are throwing up the only calories their bodies receive on a daily basis. They don't understand that celebrities that are dressing in body-hugging clothes and see-through tops are purposefully dressing that way because sex sells.

Fashion is harmful: Fashion is harmful Girls are so obsessed with being popular and accepted that they are trying to bypass being a girl and instead are trying to rush into being a woman. They aren't even getting the chance to figure out for themselves the stupidity of celebrities who spend a good sum of money walking in 9" stilettos or shoes without heels all for the sake of publicity. It is obvious that the celebrity is just hiding behind the same insecurity that the little girls have about being accepted and loved for who they are. For the record, people with real talent do not need to hide behind the facade of fashion absurdity.

Fashion design : Fashion design Fashion design is the art of the application of design and aesthetics or natural beauty to clothing and accessories . Fashion design is influenced by cultural and social latitudes, and has varied over time and place. Fashion designers work in a number of ways in designing clothing and accessories. Some work alone or as part of a team. They attempt to satisfy consumer desire for aesthetically designed clothing; and, because of the time required to bring a garment onto the market, must at times anticipate changing consumer tastes . Fashion designers attempt to design clothes which are functional as well as aesthetically pleasing. They must consider who is likely to wear a garment and the situations in which it will be worn. They have a wide range and combinations of materials to work with and a wide range of colors, patterns and styles to choose from. Though most clothing worn for everyday wear falls within a narrow range of conventional styles, unusual garments are usually sought for special occasions, such as evening wear or party dresses . Some clothes are made specifically for an individual, as in the case of haute couture or bespoke tailoring . Today, most clothing is designed for the mass market , especially casual and every-day wear.

History of fashion: History of fashion Fashion design is generally considered to have started in the 19th century with Charles Frederick Worth who was the first designer to have his label sewn into the garments that he created. Before the former draper set up his maison couture (fashion house) in Paris , clothing design and creation was handled by largely anonymous seamstresses, and high fashion descended from that worn at royal courts. Worth's success was such that he was able to dictate to his customers what they should wear, instead of following their lead as earlier

dressmakers had done. The term couturier was in fact first created in order to describe him. While all articles of clothing from any time period are studied by academics as costume design, only clothing created after 1858 could be considered as fashion design. It was during this period that many design houses began to hire artists to sketch or paint designs for garments. The images were shown to clients, which was much cheaper than producing an actual sample garment in the workroom. If the client liked their design, they ordered it and the resulting garment made money for the house. Thus, the tradition of designers sketching out garment designs instead of presenting completed garments on models to customers began as an economy. 'Fashion designing is a passion it comes from the heart'quoted a famous designer(Shannon McGHIE )who lives in Jamaica.

Fashion as career : Fashion as career Fashion design is the applied art devoted to the designing of clothing and lifestyle accessories. This art is influenced by cultural and social attitudes and has evolved over time and place. Fashion designing has come a long way from the designer clothes worn by the royalty of the ancient world to the haute couture products of the present. Fashion designing is one of the most lucrative, appealing, glamorous and exciting career options in today's world. If you have a penchant for creativity, style and originality, a career in fashion designing is the one tailor made for you. On one hand, the fashion industry satisfies both the creative fancies and the materialistic needs of the people. On the other hand, it promises glamour, fame, success and a high pay package to the talented people. An Essay on the Youth and Fashions Articles Fashions may be defined as way of living, decorating, etc., which are popular today, which are popular today, but which would soon lose their popularity. It is something passing and transitory, a mere craze of the moment to be looked down upon with contempt. For example, tight pants are the fashion today, but only a short while ago broad loose pants were the order of the day. If today a man appears in society wearing broad pants, he would be held up to ridicule, but only a few years ago they were the height of fashion, symbols of good taste and culture. Fashion is a tyrant; no tyrant is greater than that of fashion. Everyone tries to imitate the latest fashions. The youth specially are mad after it. They would not mind any expenditure to be in fashion. They must have their clothes cut according to the latest vogue, their hair made up according to the latest style, even if this places a heavy burden on their parents. Many of them

realize that a particular fashion would soon pass away; even then they waste their money over it. Costly articles of dress are often discarded, only because the fashion has passed away. Girls, specially educated ones, are the worst sinners in this respect. They are crazy after Sarees of the latest prints, ornaments of the latest designs, and other beauty aids which many happen to be popular at a particular time. Often, the entire family has to suffer owing to their craze for fashion. Many family discords and quarrels may be traced to this tyrant. Such is the tyranny of fashion that the fashion-drunk do not even care for their personal convenience. Popular articles of dress are often worn even if they make bodily movement difficult, and put the wearer to great hardship. Girls wear tight clothes, as tight as possible, even though the dress is entirely inconvenient. They are not move about in comfort, or to attend to their house-hold work, but still tight dresses are worn because others also use them. They do not even care for modesty and decency in their craze for fashion. Similar is the case with young men; they continue to wear tight pants, even though they freely acknowledge that their dress is highly inconvenient for them. Fashion is a tyrant which exacts strict adherence to its orders from its slaves. The fashion - loving do not care-even for their time. They have no sense of its value. Fashionable young men and women waste much of their time daily in make-up and dressing up. Modern girls waste hours in applying lipstick, rouge powder and beauty aids. They must do that hair according to the latest style, however ridiculous it may be. They would go to bed with their hair well oiled so that there may be no need of oil the next day and they may go out with their hair dry, according to fashion. Studies may suffer, but who cares for it? Similarly, the fashion crazy young men west there precious time in the pursuit of fashion they take hours over their hair and the toilet which follows. They carry their pocket-combs to their class-rooms and comb their hair even in the course of a lecture. They attended more to their toilets, that to the lecture. Other students may be disturbed, even the attentions of their teacher may be diverted, but they do not care for all this. The cinema and TV are the most important sources of fashions. The cinema, goers see the different style of dress and make up used by film actors and actresses. These fashions excise strong fascination over then and they are moved by a strong desire to imitate them. Girls see an actress say Kartina Kaif, with a particular dress style, and at once they are mad for it. Similarly, tight pants, the goat cut beard etc., were first used by particular actor and then were imitated by their fans. Contact with foreigners is another importance source of fashion. With the increase in cheap and swift means of travel and communication, the important of their source is rapidly increasing. More and more people are now coming in contact with people with other countries, and imitating the fashions of the foreigners. The televisions the fashion shows, the beauty

competition, and news papers advertisement are other prominent sources which increase the strength and popularity of this tyrant. All fashions are futile. They have a tendency to filter downwards. They spread from the rich to the poor and from the advance and prosperous countries to the backward and poor ones. By the time the fashion has reached from one class or country to another, it tends to be discard by the class or country which originated it. Many of those who try to be in fashion do know that it is fleeting. But even then they are madly followed as if nothing on earth matters more. Nothing brings out the tyranny of fashion better than this fact

ISLAM VS. FASHION:

The concept for fashion in Islam or we can say the space for fashion in Islam is controversial. As, from the topic of the article we can see clearly that it is a big problem for an illiterate individual from point of view of religious knowledge to understand whether fashion and Islamic ideology about clothing are two different concepts or they can be interrelated. Most of our religious scholars say that Islam is a simple religion and it does not allow any fashion but recommend simple and plain clothing. On the other hand the modern world, full of fashion and design is of the view that no natural religion can restrict a person from his rights and its the right of a person to be up-to-date. So, now what to do in this case??? The basic flaw that I got behind this conflict is lack of knowledge and lack of ability to apply that knowledge in a perfect way. What do we mean when we say the word fashion? We generally mean it as wearing trendy clothes and being up-to-date in respect of costumes. So, by and large most of us relate fashion with clothing and ones appearance. Most of us in fact dont know what fashion in real terms mean and how much broader areas it covers beyond what we think it is. According to Oxford Dictionary the word fashion means make, style, shape, pattern, manner, whatever is in usage for a time being AGREEING OR NOT WITH CURRENT USAGE. Most of us take the meaning of fashion as a trend which is IN now-a-days but unfortunately the concept is incorrect. First of all there is a need to redefine the term fashion. Fashion is not restricted to one area of life i.e. costume or appearance but it has a very wide applicability in almost every field of life like architecture, arts, dance, style of speech, economic trends, management, politics, medical etc. so, we can easily say that fashion are social phenomena common to many fields of human activity and thinking or in other words we can define it as styles and customs prevalent at a given time (not current time).

So, by the above discussion, it is clear what fashion in real terms mean. Now, coming on the particular field of fashion the costume and appearance of a person. This is the most criticized field everywhere in relation to religion especially Islamic ideologies. The appearance of both men and women is questionable. The main point is to see both, the fashion and Islamic teachings, from one angle. Fashion in real meanings is not to wear trendy, expensive and attractive clothes. Fashion is a style, its a make, and its an appearance. So, what so ever one is wearing must suit him. Fashion is not to wear what others wear. Just the theme is to wear anything that perfectly suits and match the personality of the wearer. Take fashion from this angle and relate it with Islamic ideologies. Islam does not restrict anyone to wear good clothes. What it restricts, is not to wear such clothes that do not cover the body in a decent way. If we think positively, we all know that such small and so called trendy clothes infact not suit anyone but is a symbol to make oneself different in mob. The reason to wear stupid clothes like baggies and small t-shirts is just to make one different, just to satisfy one own self that everyone is looking at him regardless of the remarks that are being passed on him. If one wears decent clothes, Islam does not stop him on doing this. Demand of Islam is not to wear clumsy clothes but if we study, we will come to know that Islam is very strict for cleanliness especially in clothing. Islam allows fashion but in certain limits. This should not be a point of conflict that there should be no limitations. Every field has certain limitations. Socially we all are bound for it. Why laws are made??? They are to enforce such limits. As it is a fact that Islam is a complete ideology of life so it guides us in every field. It has limited us in fashion too. It has been done for the welfare of society. We all are well aware of the pros and cons of the most hi-tech fashionable societies. So, Islam is not against fashion because fashion in reality is to make better and better, that is why it is adopted and on the other hand, Islam also guides to improve us, to be up-to-date so we can better compete others. The point is simple that not to apply fashion just in terms of clothing. At this point we take a stand that it is our right. If fashion is our right, then why just to apply it at only one sector? Why not to apply it in every field like medicine, technology, welfare? Apply it everywhere. We criticize Islam only due to the reason that it limits us and teaches us how to live in a civilized society??? You decide better what is wrong and what is right, our thinking or Islamic ideologies.
