SETTING GOALS Dreams determine goals and goals map out actions and actions results and the

results brings success. When one wants to make a journey, he know where he wants to go, how he will get there, whether by car, plane, train, sea or by air. Many people plan their goals but it never materialize since they blame people for their downfall or not achieving their goals. There is foot-dragging, that is, they find it difficult changing. They are also dreamers, never turning their plans into actions and dont take any risk in life. They are also being motivated by focusing their minds on the present. Setting goals create roots for success, draws out ones sense of purpose, motivates and helps us accomplish our goal, makes us set priorities and shows or teaches us to know whether we are on or off track. In achieving the SMART-F goals, ones vision for attaining the goals must be SSpecific, M-Measurable, A-Achievable, R-Realistic, T-Time bound and lastly FFlexible. After completing General Certificate of Education (GCE), Ordinary Levels, though I could have attended the Nursing Training College straightway, I decided to teach, and use some of the money to buying a few belongings and then pay and pursue the General Certificate of Education (GCE), Advanced Level course at the same time. This I achieved. After teaching and closing in the afternoon, I would attend the General Certificate of Education (GCE), Advanced Level course classes and close in the evenings but that did not stop me from participating in the church activities.

Before my results (i.e. General Certificate of Education (GCE), Advanced Level examination results) were released and gained admission at the Nursing Training College, I have been able to use my salary to buy a lot of nursing books and also the needed items to take to the school. My parents had to add just a little amount of money to carter for the rest of the required items to school. Not only did I achieve all the SMARTS goals but I also gained more knowledge from the teaching. I also gained more respect and admiration from my parent because I was able to foot almost all my bills before starting the Nurses Training College. Teaching experience has also enriched my curriculum vitae.

MANAGEMENT OF TIME Managing time is an important aspect in ones life. Time is said to be valuable resource. Many people dont really value it as a valuable resource. Many of the workshops and seminar I have attended dont go according to scheduled time. It is always an hour and half late before it starts. This invariably affects the closing time negatively, that is, these seminars and workshops ends late. Time is said to be a passing life in that it doesnt wait for anybody, is the same for everyone. There is this saying that time and tide waits for no man. Whatever that one has to do in a specific time should be done. Time can be poorly managed through procrastination, poor planning and scheduling, interruptions by people, poor delegation, poor usage of the telephone, i.e., by reaching or calling friends and gossiping, lack of concern for time management and lack of priorities.

To manage time effectively one can keep a small notebook to write what we want to do in a given period at different time, finding a source of motivation or inspiration to keep one going, breaking larger problems down into smaller task, allocating time for achieving ones goals in stages, cost our time, say no to our friends especially when one is busy with other things, asking for help, using planner or diary to note down the things that one will do throughout the day or month. Out of aforementioned things to do for effective time management, the one I really lack is how to effectively delegate some of the work to others. Most of the time, I feel the way I want it to be done would not be achieved, so I always struggle and do it on my own. In so doing, I tend to have a lot of things to cover within a short period and hence do not finish some of things I have to do on time. I have now learnt that delegating to others can ease your work load and make one less tired. You only need to clearly define what has to be done, give time schedule or lines and monitor the responsibility you delegated. Delegation can help one finish his or her work earlier.
