design by Vickie Howell Smocking stitch Wrist Warmers. Fourth in a series for Stitch.Rock.Knit-along with Vickie Howell. I designed them to be knit flat and seamed up at the side edge. Really, though, you can choose the method that works best for you. No matter what, youll get a great result.
STITCH GLOSSARY Smocking Stitch

(acrylic/wool; 167yd/153m) in color Magenta(ish) #0006 One pair size 8 (5mm) needles, OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE Tapestry needle

LEFT HAND Cuff

Cast on 36 sts. Rows 19 *K2, p2; rep from * to end.

Body
Rows 1, 3, 5 and 7 (WS) K18, p2, [k2, p2] four times. Rows 2 and 6 (RS) [K2, p2] four times, k2, p to end. Row 4 K2, p2, [work smocking stitch, k1, p2, k2, p2] twice, p to end. Row 8 [K2, p2] twice, work smocking stitch, k1, [p2, k2] twice, p to end. Rows 924 Rep rows 18 twice more. Rows 2528 *K2, p2; rep from * to end. Bind off in rib.

MEASUREMENTS

Circumference 8"/20.5cm Length 7"/18cm

GAUGE
18 sts and 24 rows = 4"/10cm in reverse St st using size 8 (5mm) needles. TAKE TIME TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.

RIGHT HAND Cuff

Cast on 36 sts. Rows 1-9 *P2, k2; rep from * to end.

Body
Rows 1, 3, 5 and 7 (WS) [P2, k2] four times, p2, k18. Rows 2 and 6 (RS) P18, [k2, p2] four times, k2. Row 4 P18, [work smocking st, k1, p2, k2, p2] twice, k2. Row 8 P18, k2, p2, work smocking st, k1, [p2, k2] three times. Rows 924 Rep rows 18 twice more. Rows 2528 *P2, k2; rep from * to end. Bind off in rib.

FINISHING

Weave in ends. Fold piece in half, sew side seam, leaving a 212"/6.5cm opening for thumb. %
