Atthesametimeitisimportantthatthecargoownersnotifytheircargoinsurersandrequestthem toinspectthecargoandestimatetheamountofthelossordamage.Incasecargohasnotbeen insuredbythecargoownerstheymustdecidewhetheritisnecessaryforthemtohavean independentsurveyorattendontheirbehalf.Itmustbeborneinmindthateachsurveyreportis solelyintendedfortheprincipalwhohasrequestedthesurvey. Acopyofsellersinvoiceandpackinglist. Acopyofasurveyreportissuedforthecargoowner,ifapplicable.

Acopyofareceiptforthecargowithanyexceptionsnotedonreceipt.Incaseofashortagefroman FCLcontainerthereceiptmustincludetheidentificationnumberofthecontainerandtheseal number,especiallyifthisprovedtobedifferentfromtheoriginalsealnumber.Incaseofashortage thenumberorotheridentificationmarksoftheparcelorunitwhichhasbeenshortdeliveredshould beincluded,aswellasanyfurtherdescriptionofthetypeofpackingandtypeofgoodsinvolved. Photosofdamagedcargoorcontainerifavailable. Incaseofdamagetogoodswhichitprovedimpossibletosellatareducedprice,confirmationofthe destructionofthegoodsmustbeincluded.Incaseitwaspossibletosellthegoodsatareduced price,suchvaluemustbedeductedfromtheclaimamount.Cargoownersareobligatedtomitigate theirlossbyseekingallavailablemeanstosalvagethecargo. Onreceiptofnecessarydocumentsandproofoflossordamage,Eimskipwillwithoutdelayassist theircustomersinsolvingtheirclaimsforlossofordamagetocargoduringtransportorstoragewith thecompany.
