KEYNOTES:
SWEPT AWAY: The Keys ride into Carolina having just been swept by Lynchburg in a three-game home series. The Keys scored just four runs over the three games and managed just 15 hits against Hillcats pitching. It was the third time they had been swept this season and the second time its happened at home. WELCOME BACK, ZANE: Keys catcher Zane Chavez was activated from the disabled list Monday after a six-week stay on the DL. Chavez was placed on the DL with an oblique strain on June 14. Zane Chavez was hitting .268 with four homers and 30 RBIs before his oblique sidelined him. His last homer came on June 4, a tworun walk-off shot down the right field line that beat Lynchburg at Harry Grove Stadium. He played in two of the three games against the Hillcats and went 1-for4 in each. SO FAR SO HOBGOOD: Former first round pick Matt Hobgood has pitched well in his first two appearances for the Keys, pitching a combined 8.1 innings, allowing three runs and striking out nine batters. He last pitched a week ago and with Trent Howard, a reliever for most of this season, on the mound, theres a good chance Hobgood could pitch tonight, piggy-backing on Howards performance.
