Tutorial - Animating with Inventor Studio

260 View s, 4 Replies 06-05-2006 03:50 PM My frustration begins. This tutorial uses the Arbor_Press.iam In doing the tutorial I'm asked to expand the Pinion Shaft component node in the brow ser and select angle 1 180 deg) to animate the constraint. In the Animate Constraints dialogue, in the End box located in the Action field, set the degree value to 0. How do I do that? I'm follow ing the tutorial to the letter and it doesn't w ork. The only w ay I can find to edit the value is to click the d= button. I put in the value of 0, drag the time line to 3 seconds as the tutorial instructs, set the End time to Current time, rew ind and play. Nothing. :-(

I did this for Inventor 10. It helped clarify some things for my students in relation to the tutorial. I prefer to remove the angle constraint and drive a mate offset constraint instead. http://home.pct.edu/~jmather/content/DSG321/Inventor%20Studio.ppt Please mark this response as "Accept as Solution" if it answ ers your question. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Autodesk Inventor 2013 Certified Professional Autodesk AutoCAD 2013 Certified Professional Certified SolidWorks Professional Inventor Professional 2014 Edu 64-bit GeForce GTX 560M i7-2670QM @ 2.2GHz 8GB RAM http://home.pct.edu/~jmather/content/DSG322/inventor_surface_tutorials.htm http://w w w .autodesk.com/edcommunity Still w aiting for -Draft option on any Rib feature.

06-06-2006 07:13 AM in reply to: *Robert Davis Tutorial corrections for panels 4 and 5: This addendum should REPLACE panels 4 of 24 and 5 of 24 in the ANIMATING WITH AUTODESK INVENTOR STUDIO tutorial. On panel 4 of 24 you are instructed to click the Animate Constraints tool.

You are not told about the next w arning dialog. In R11, Studio w as enhanced to support multiple animations per assembly (w hen Studio w as introduced in R10, it w as only able to have one per file). The w arning dialog states: Animation commands are not active in the model state. You must activate an animation to use animation commands. [OK] [PROMPTS] Clicking OK in fact creates a "new " animation w ithin the file called "Animation1" and activates it for you. The Animate Constraints dialog is displayed as is the Animation Timeline. Under the illustration in panel 4 of 24 you are instructed to select a constraint to animate how ever the model w as slightly modified betw een R10 and R11 and the constraint you are supposed to select is now called: Angle SHAFT TURN (180.00 deg) This is w here either the tutorial is w rong or there is a defect on w hat should default on the Animate Constraint dialog. In the ACTION area of the dialog, the SUPPRESS CONSTRAINT button is selected by default (the SPECIFY CONSTRAINT VALUE button should be selected, it displays d0= on the button). Click the SPECIFY CONSTRAINT VALUE button. Now , enter the value of "0" in the (now active) field for the end value (on the right). Next, in the TIME area of the dialog, the default is for an INSTANT (NO DURATION) event and this should probably default to the first button in the sequence w hich is START TIME FROM PREVIOUS ACTION Select the START TIME FROM PREVIOUS ACTION button now and enter "3.0 s" in the (now active) End field located on the right. Now click OK to create the constraint animation and dismiss the dialog. You should now be able to "rew ind" the animation by clicking the rew ind to beginning button and play the animation by clicking the PLAY button.
