ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA Pipe Storage, Handling and Preservation Pipe handling procedure and equipment is approved by the Saudi Aramco PMT, and is available. End bevel protectors shall remain on pipes and fittings while in storage, protectors shall not damage internal or external coating. Slings for lifting pipe shall be nylon or similar material to prevent damage to the pipe surface. Wire rope slings shall not be used. Pipe shall not be rolled or dropped off trucks. Pipe stacking shall be made in a manner which will not damage the pipe or the coating. Internally coated pipe shall be handled from the outside diameter (O.D.), only. When a length of pipe is cut from a longer joint of pipe, all vendor markings and other identifying information shall be transferred to each length of pipe. Storage, Handling and Preservation of fittings & Flanges Fittings and Flanges must be packaged in steel-banded wooden crates or secured to skids. Fittings and Flanges must be protected from mechanical damage. Welding ends must be protected with suitable wood, plastic, or metal covers, (see Attachment 1). Storage, Handling and Preservation of Valves Valve end flanges shall be fitted with plywood covers. The cover diameter shall be the same as the outside diameter of the flange and shall be at least 10 mm thick for valves up to NPS 10 inch and 12 mm thick for valves NPS 12 inch and larger. The cover shall be attached by machine bolts with a nut and washer fitted on the inside of the flange. There shall be four (4) bolts on valves up to NPS 10 inch nominal size and eight (8) bolts on valves NPS 12 inch and larger. The bolts diameter shall not be less than the size of the flange bolt hole. The raised face portion of the flange and the ring joint groove shall be covered with a heavy grease, (see Attachment 1). A heavy duty moisture-proof disc shall be fitted between the greased flange face and the cover. The disc shall have a diameter equivalent to the inside diameter of the bolt holes. The ends of threaded and socket weld end valves shall be protected with tight fitting plastic caps.
