Testing principles for all grounding equipment: The capacities as indicated for all of MacLean Power Systems grounding components were determined according to the electrical ASTM F855 (American Society of Testing Materials) and IEC 1230 (International Electrotechnical Commission) testing principles and standards. All the test reports are available upon request. Details of IEC 1230 criteria: The test current* (It) is 15% higher than the RMS current (Ir), to cover all grounding cable lengths and associated resistivity. It = 1.15(Ir) The testing time* (Tt) is 15% higher than the assigned time (Tr), to cover all variations (security factor). The testing time is based upon 15 cycles: Tt = 1.15(Tr) For the first cycles, the current reaches as asymmetric peak value (Im) of 2.7 times higher than the test current. Im = 2.7(It) * The values assigned to the portable grounding assembly are capable of supporting the maximum effective current value (Ir) during the time period indicated (Tr) without and dangerous effects.

A temporary ground is a safety device designed to protect the linemen from an accidental or incidental reenergizing of the Electrical Network, Sub-station, or pole line.
