Rosenberger In-building Solutions Communication is the key for any business' success; signal coverage is the primary requirement

of any communication system. Here at Rosenberger; we have developed S-Cell In-Building solution to fit the business needs. Rosenberger provides a complete portfolio of services, products and applications for the entire In-building system. In Building Solution is an indoor signal coverage solution as the extension of the existing mobile network. It distributes the RF signals to different indoor locations via the distributed antenna system, which consists of antenna, power splitter, coupler etc, and improves wireless coverage inside buildings to capture indoor traffic volumes and revenue streams, which would otherwise be lost. S-Cell IBS in combination with standard and customized wireless applications offer additional value to the buildings can help mobile service providers increase usage of their mobile networks, reduce subscriber churn and promote revenue-generating voice and data services. S-Cell IBS provides includes all cellular standards: CDMA800, GSM900, DCS1800, 3G etc.

1. z

Wireless repeater solution Characteristic Works as a bi-directional amplifier to increase the signal between mobiles and base stations, in uplink and downlink direction. Used for an area with poor coverage or for coverage enhancements in areas blocked by obstacles. Uses a pick up (donor) antenna to receive and amplify the radio signal from a donor cell, and then retransmit from antennas mounted near the area to be covered.

Advantage Fast rollout and fast coverage leads to fast return on investment Low build out costs For GSM network, no planning of BSS parameter (well known as the number one

error source in every GSM network) z No microwave link and No 2 Mbit- connection needed Easy to locate site for installation & coverage Platform for subscriber growth

Typical application The site signal strength is not good, but traffic volume is not high, it can receive a good donor signal source. For example: small shopping mall, small hotel, basement and elevator.

Frequency-shifting repeater solution Characteristic Frequency-shifting repeater system is a point-to-multipoint that overcomes the antenna isolation problem in conventional repeater system. Available in Low Power (2W) or High Power (10W or 20W). Comprises of Master Unit (Direct or Wireless Coupling) and Remote Unit. Available in GSM-DCS, GSM-GSM, DCS-DCS, GSM-CDMA, GSM-1.5GHz.

Advantage Eliminate donor antenna isolation problems through frequency translation. Fast rollout and fast coverage leads to fast return on investment. Low build out costs. For GSM network, no planning of BSS parameter No microwave link and no 2Mbit- connection needed. Easy to locate site for installation & coverage. Expands coverage areas Platform for subscriber growth.

Typical application It is difficult to meet the isolation because of the site environment; The site radio environment is very complicated, signal source is not good, the installation environment can not meet BTS installation requirement, there is not optical fiber connects to Base Station.

3. z

Fiber optic repeater solution Characteristic Suitable for large-scale indoor installation. Integrated unit supporting multiple cellular standards. Laser technology with high linearity. Low noise and high reliability. Broader frequency range

Small optical transmitting loss, Optical fiber transmission up to 20km;

Advantage Remote Unit is light weight and easily installed with wall mounting chassis. No isolation requirement between receiving and transmitting antenna. Fast rollout and fast coverage leads to fast return on investment. Low build out costs. For GSM network, no planning of BSS parameter Easy to locate site for installation & coverage. Expands coverage areas Platform for subscriber growth.

Typical application Blind Spot Coverage: Extend BTS coverage, especially for the rural area that can not install RF repeater (weak receiving signal strength). Hot Spot Traffic Shunting: Bring some carriers from idle BTS to shunt traffic.

Such as Expo Centre, Stadium and office building.

BTS + Distributed Antenna System (DAS) solution Characteristic

Distributed Antenna System (DAS) is composed by line amplifier, divider, coupler, feeder cable, and antenna. In the case, the output power of BTS is strong enough to directly meet the coverage requirement and a Passive DAS can be implemented. Passive DAS has the following features: z z The system reliability is relatively higher Easy to maintain and upgrade

When the coverage area is too large, the output power of BTS can not satisfy the coverage requirement, a line amplifier can be used to complement the power loss in feeder cable during signal transmission. The distributed antenna system with Active DAS has the

signal amplifier equipments is named as Active DAS. following features: z

Cost effective, active equipments such as booster can increase the coverage area at a relatively lower cost compare to additional Base Stations.

z z

Large coverage area Flexible Design and configuration

In most cases, a passive DAS can be used in S-Cell IBS due to its system reliability and convenience of upgrade.

Advantage z BTS can provide new carriers and increase the network capacity in buildings; z Stable signal source z Good signal quality

Typical application z Large coverage area with high traffic volume: such as airport, hotel, shopping mall to solve the problem of coverage and capacity; z High rise buildings, with interference from remote cells such as co-channel and adjacent frequency interference
